Good post.

Do people really think she's a feminist though? I'm British so I don't know as much about her as an American might.
It's more the "woman in power" thing, which pisses me right off in this circumstance.
*snip*

Her own merit? What? What merit? McCain picked her because Obama was so wildly popular and he thought that by selecting an attractive woman, he'd appeal to more people by appearing progressive. It ended up being a huge mistake for him. So. What merit?

You getting all self-righteous about her just comes across as obnoxious. And then pulling the Hitler card? Really?
Uh, did you even read my post? I wasn't defending her being chosen as a VP candidate. I was defending the fact that she was already the Gov. of Alaska and she had gotten there based upon her merit. If you're just going to tl;dr, at least just post that before going off in a rant.

Secondly, self-righteous? How is defending someone's right to being acknowledged for their accomplishments being self-righteous? Are we speaking the same language here?

Thirdly, if you'd actually, once again, read the context in which I spoke about Hitler, you'd see that I was saying that even though he was a horrible person, he did in fact have some good ideas and helped Germany through a horrifically difficult time before he went apeshit bonkers with war. I was using him as a comparison of the fallacy of writing someone off because of blind rage for their beliefs or something that they've done. Just because Hitler was a madman doesn't mean that his strategic genius was any less potent during war, amiright?

Does this mean she won't run for president? There're too many idiots willing to give up a country to a woman WHO CAN WINK! OMG! to risk this not happening.
Not necessarily. If anything, it raises the likelihood, because now her schedule is mostly clear and she could prepare for a run if she wanted. Scary thought, isn't it?

This is probably the smartest thing she's done in a while. Everything that gets reported about her nowadays is negative, so the only way she has a chance for the presidency in 2012 or any sort of political career beyond governor of Alaska is to get out of the spotlight for a while until the post-election buzz dies down a little bit. Plus, her family has been under a lot of scrutiny which can't be fun.

And it's a good way to avoid charges of ethics violations.

Hey wait - why do I care? I'm British :p
Because we're your close friends. Don't you worry about your friends when they make nuclear holocaust causing decisions?

I've always stood against the republicans and definately Sarah Palin, but I can't blame her for resigning, seeing as there has been so much controversy about her. Also, any links to this?

I feel bad for her personally. I think she got into politics for good intentions and the Repubs. drew her into the whole presidential running to take advantage of the fact she's an attractive female. Now she has gotten caught up in the big scandals and drama and all that other fake shit that comes with top tier politics and she doesn't have the big family name or money or connections to keep her on top of it like the older politicians do. Just another example of what our "American dream" is becoming, it's kinda sad people.
No, Not really.
If you run under "Family values" your expected to have some.

Sorry it's just the way it's always been.

It did come as a shock for sure,
but I still haven't figured out the massive hate for her. Can someone, rationally and calmly explain why they hate Palin so much.
I don't agree with Obama's policies but I don't go around the internet spouting hate speech towards him.
You Palin haters need to support your hate of Palin with facts and reasons, instead of clogging the forums with ever more creative ways of saying "I hate Palin"

The problem I have with Palin is that despite everything, she still represents "Traditional Values". Think of Thatcher too. It's the "Hockey Mom with $500 outfits because her appearance IS EVERYTHINGGG!!!111oneoneone", the idiocy of her, that kind of thing. Do I discredit her political capacity? Oh there's no doubt of that, mostly because I dislike slime in politics.
*Drops from the skies, wreathed in a pillar of flame*

Somebody mentioned Thatcher!? Gah, why oh why didn't I kill her when I had the chance....and Palin too. She was something of a nobody until the election, and then she became too well-known to remove without risking a Republican victory.....Gah.

God is either sexually ambiguous or a transvestite. Problem of sexual identification solved: you can just call God whatever you want now.

and there are rumors of an impending federal indictment for embezzlement.
First I've heard anything about that. Odds are these rumors were made out of thin air, as otherwise they would have been on the national news last night. The news loves rumors like that, especially when they're attached to high-profile Reps.

Palin was what sunk McCain, so I have no pity for her.

You think? Knowing the trash media it'll be Palin behind the Scandal, interview, interview, how are you coping now, Palins scandalous life etc, etc

Youll probably get more than ever now.

*yawn* I stopped hating Palin as soon as she stopped talking.
I still can't stand her... shooting poor defenseless mooses from helicopters with an AK47...
bah. glad she's gone.
Really, I'm just glad McCain and her lost the election.

I don't understand anyones disdain with her. Yeah, she's an idiot. Yeah, she's stupid. Yeah, she's unfit to run anything, let alone have a family.

But... so?

I don't understand why this was a news worthy event. All major US news stations had stories about it. I'm completely puzzled as to why anyone actually cares if you live outside of Alaska.

Right on! Although she said that she quit because of a "greater calling" which worries me. If she becomes president, we're fucked.
