It kinda feels weird seeing parents doing..... SUCH a thing.

But then I kinow that Parents make even WORSE things and give more horrible names (the movie Idiocracy is kinda on the right way) to their childs.

But seriously? Guys, this ones going to be a normal human beeing, not a kind of Superhero.

And he got to live with that name till he changes it, or forsakens it.

You know they can change the name afterward, like 5 years later or so.
Why would they want to?
Dovahkiin means Dragonborn, how fucking cool is that.
Here are some much worse names http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCdmiZyyGjQ

Dova at 14 years old: Mom, dad, why did you guys give me just a complicated name?
Parents: Because we wanted free gaemz!
Its things like this that make teenagers become clinically depressed people!
Names make teenagers depressed? Funny, here I thought that it was because parents are abusive, drunks, uncaring and/or drug addicts but there I go again with my silly delusions.
Its scumbag parents in general. They basically took advantage of this kid in order to get free shit, and the idea of being used is depressing to everyone.

I think the parents are retarded for not getting physical copies, but instead digital copies.

Guess what happens if his account gets hacked? Mommy went through 9 months of hell in vain.

Why is the name Dovahkiin a problem? It'll stand out on a CV, for one, employers tend to discard things that look normal without so much as a glance. The only things they tend to take seriously are unique or very impressive things.
I got bullied at school for having a Scottish name. In Scotland, it was picked on for being Irish. Turns out nobody even knew where my name was from, they just wanted something to make fun of. My old teacher was named Kylie. And he was the most badass teacher ever. Names don't mean shit. Kids will make fun of anything at a young age, and when you grow up, it won't matter.

So guys. God. It could be worse. Naming a kid Dovahkiin is hardly ritual-fucking-sacrifice to Bethesda, is it?

I was hoping baby Dovahkiin would have ended up being a girl because then she could have gone by Kiki. It would have been cute.

Anyway, people are being kind of silly over this whole thing. If kids don't have weird names, they'll be teased over being short, or having freckles, or reading, or whatever else the bullies can find wrong with them. If said bullies can't find anything wrong, they'd just call them gay and ugly and then insult their mothers. Anything to get a reaction. That's just how bullying works.

Also, why would having an unusual name prevent you from getting hired? That's just silly.

If it's really important, he'll change his name himself when it becomes legal and just go by Tom or D or something in the meantime.

People really enjoy being offended.

Diehard fandom at its most interesting, I suppose.

Wait, what is with the bully posts? Why would he be bullied?

By the time he gets to kindergarden, 4-5 years will have passed. 4-5 year olds don't play Skyrim and they'll think it's a Serbian name or something. "Dovahkiin" is exotic, but it isn't something like naming your kid "Megatron" or "Darth Vader".

When he gets to Elementary school, kids still won't be playing Skyrim. I doubt people in grades 2-6 would play an old RPG they'll probably never have heard of.

When he gets to Highschool, Skyrim will be so far behind him that only a few hardcore RPG enthusiasts/nerds will give him a wink or a nudge and talk about how cool it is. While everyone else just knows him as "That kid who sounds like he's from Serbia". I don't see any of the logic you guys are presenting, he's not going to be bullied at all.

Furthermore, people criticizing the parents think they're doing this for the free swag. They're not, they're probably doing it because they're diehard fans.

It's no different than having a video game themed wedding or investing geek culture into any other part of your life. Although this is a bit extreme.
Quoted for truth. Plus, imagine some of the f'ed up names and frequency of such that will be floating around by then. Dovahkiin will probably sound pretty neat by then, and as mentioned, it'll just sound like some random eastern european name to people who won't know better by then. Hell... I have a friend who named his boy Kaiden.
