I wonder what "Dovahkiin" would shorten out to.

My guess is "Keen."
My guess is 18 years of being bullied.
Kids bully people no matter what. If it wasn't his name it'd be another of his features, or something completely made up. Or "gay". Yeah it'll probably just be "gay"...sigh...

This isn't that bad a name- and it can always be shortened. I'd rather be named for an excellent game than the latest overnight celebrity, and there's plenty of that going around.

Gonna be honest here, that's actually a pretty badass name.
Any type of bullying could be somewhat avoided by just saying that it's foreign, and hey, I didn't hear that many people complain when a Swedish couple named their daughter 'Metallica'.

I'm interested in how this will affect his career future. I guess he can't really go into politics huh?
Dovahkiin for president!
I can't even pronounce it, let alone freakin spell it.

Honestly given some of the names I've seen popping up in the last 5 or so years for kids, this isn't so bad.
That was my first though. When there are people naming their children after STD's, Dovahkiin doesn't seem too bad.
A Swedish "Celebrity" actually named his son Månblomma which translates to Moonflower, so Dovahkiin isnt so bad

I personally don't get how you can mock the name except for "*childish voice* Your name is weird!"

I've be given worse insults about my name and my name is Jonathan.

Why does everyone assume having a strange name automatically makes everyone want to kick you in the stomach? Especially with how schools and parents today insist on overcoddling and sheltering kids from even minor harm.

You underestimate the cruelty of children Voodoomancer. :p Even if teachers and parents say you can't, teasing, pestering and bullying still occurs.

That said, can we pre-emptively call social services on these parents? They've already shown they'll gladly condemn their child for a few video games, not much better will ever come out of this.

I Have the sudden urge to mail over a Cuddly-toy dragon and an "Iron" (woollen) helm just to see whether the child can live up to his namesake XD

There are much worse names they could have given him. I hear in america you are pretty much free to name your child whatever you want, from city or state names to other stupid shit.

At least this kinda sounds like a real name.

Dova at 14 years old: Mom, dad, why did you guys give me just a complicated name?
Parents: Because we wanted free gaemz!
Its things like this that make teenagers become clinically depressed people!
Names make teenagers depressed? Funny, here I thought that it was because parents are abusive, drunks, uncaring and/or drug addicts but there I go again with my silly delusions.

Great. Buy him a shirt of your favorite sportsteam, sign him up at your church and political party. Fill it in for him. Just like you filled in his name with your hobby.

Dohvakiin Kellermeyer. That's a tongue-twister if I ever heard one.

"Yeah, it's spelled d-o-h-v-a-k-i-i-n. Yeah, it's the name of a hero from some 20 year old video game. I know it sounds stupid, sir. What do you mean you can't give me the job."
Jobs are not given or not because of a name. Your looks, attitude and C.V. are the ones that matter.
As a poster said above, people will think its a russian name.
They are SO given because of a name. My cousin Batman bin Suparman is president of Microsoft. You are wrong and you should feel wrong.
If Batman bin Superman invented Windows he would have been. No, i don`t feel wrong. At all.
