In the interest of fairness and facilitating my RPG experience, may I be a bigamist? Making my many wives live with me in a house called the pride. Leaving my home only to defend my territory while my pack of wives hunt and clear dungeons for me?

im perfectly fine with gay marriage in the game as long as there are people that are straight, people that are gay, and some who are bi; i dont want everybody being bi because that just seems unrealistic and i love it when you play a straight character and you really like a gay character but they will only bat for the same team and so you get frustrated. i like that bit of realism, not the system DA2 had where you could get in a relationship with anybody no matter what your sex

honestly, i like what they're doing here so long as they follow one simple guideline...

DO NOT have every npc be bi-sexual and any gender or race for that matter, can hook up with them.

and it has nothing to do with closed-mindedness, it's just simply a matter of lazy gameplay mechanic implementation and immersion breaking.

each romance option should have a gender preference (gay, straight, bi) and a race preference, though that would be more diverse. one person can be attracted to more than one type of race, though i think it would be hard to find an NPC that would go for ANY race, unless they're lonely.

It'd be great if you could have kids. Especially between species.

I think I'd get my horny (in more than one way, boom) Argonian male to create some hellish creature with a pretty little Khajit.

Then ofc, I would keep it barred in my house, and bring villagers to sacrifice to the unholy abomination.

On a slightly more feasible note, It'd be great if your partner actually wanted to quest with you. I think something as simple as that could make their affection more believable, and would also force you to make a choice between their happiness or their safety.

But can I have a healthy non-sexual relationship in Skyrim? I don't like mandatory bonkings, and while we're talking orientations, I would like the asexual, hetero-romantic demographic to get to play. :3
i think thats where the roommate thing comes in.
OT: actually this guy raises a good point.
can i have an unhealthy purely sexual relationship with someone?
otherwise, HOORAY!

Personally I'm not a fan of putting modern day politics into my fantasy settings. It's not going to stop me from playing & enjoying the game but I find this sort of thing borderline 4th wall breaking and extremely lazy on the developers part.

A fantasy game such as this should be about immersion. If you want to put same sex relationships into it then either design a society which is tolerant towards it, like the ancient greeks for example, or if it's a standard intolerant society design the relationship around the trials and tribulations that actual medieval gay couples would have experienced.

Wouldn't that be far more interesting to play? Just seems all sorts of lazy to me to take what should be an intolerant towards homosexuality society and hard-code them to be gender neutral.
Why should it be intolerant to homosexuals? As far as I'm aware intolerance is not mentioned in the game and in Morrowind Crassius "Uncle" Curio is rather flamboyantly bi. Though he is a sexual harrassment case waiting to happen.
Because you'd think the medieval society the world is being modeled after, specifically for TES V that's set with the Nords in Skyrim, would be a society that's intolerant to homosexuals. It doesn't mean you agree with or promote it, it's just simple fact that many medieval societies were this way.

So basically what I'm getting at, until recently pretty much all RPG's or anything that had a romantic subplot was blind to homosexuality. Now with our society values changing, developers are still making games the same way but are simply changing the games from being blind to being gender neutral. This is what I'm calling lazy. If you're going to make a big deal about opening the game up to same sex romance, why not attempt to at least make it realistic?

But they aren't making a big deal. In fact, I think the exact wording is "Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone."

Frankly before you start wondering about homosexuality, what about relations between races? In a world that is still pretty racist (see Morrowind with Dark Elves, Argonians and Khajits, Oblivion really just Argonians and Khajits.)

So, gamers playing a female character can get on some smokin' hot lesbian action make theirs openly lesbian?

Me gusta very much indeed, Guv'nor!
But such news - as welcome as they are for my fellow wankers gamers who like such things - don't really matter to me, as my character shall be a 6'4" tall black guy that looks like Will Smith with Morgan Freeman's facial hair!

YES. YEEEEEES!!

EDIT: 5 bucks says FOX will be all over this.

I'm hearing a fox new story coming up screaming something about sex and games...

O well don't think they are the first game with gay marriage but probably biggest title, it's nice that you then actually can choose what bits and bytes you want for your fake ego.... :D

I wouldn't have my character go the gay route, but I am glad that marriage in general (gay or male/female) is going to be part of Skyrim. You have no idea who pissed I was in Oblivion that my Argonian couldn't marry Dar-Ma in Chorrol.

Damn that pissed me off! >:-(

Well, this is good news and it will add an extra and interesting dimension to game play. The one thing i've noted though is that the character faces don't really look that attractive imo, it's the aesthetic style of the NPC's.

I wonder when polygamy will be allowed in a game. I'm not a fan of it irl but I'd be curious how that'd play out in a game.
They had that in the Fable games. You could marry multiple people in different towns.

I'm a little worried the game will be spread too thin. I will trust Bethesda though, they really never let me down. Brink wasn't their fault...really it wasn't lalalalalala.
It really wasn't, they didn't MAKE the game, they only put their name on it, they're making Skyrim and it will be epic

Huh. Shouldn't be too hard to mod out for the conservative half of the nation...
I wouldn't exactly call it half of any nation in the developed world which is against same sex relationships.

Unless america really is still that arse backwards :\
Exact figures (and debates on referring to one side of a contentious issue as "backwards") aside, there remains a substantial playerbase(including myself) who would rather not have liberal politicking shoehorned into our escapism.

Then comes the stalking phase.

Day after day I bring home the hunt to feed my wife and child, we live a happy life in the land of Skyrim.

One day however, I returned from the daily hunt to find my home burned to the ground. The work of a dragon it seems, I will have to ask around...

YEEEAHH

Looking forward to this bloody game.
