In the interest of fairness and facilitating my RPG experience, may I be a bigamist? Making my many wives live with me in a house called the pride. Leaving my home only to defend my territory while my pack of wives hunt and clear dungeons for me?
i think thats where the roommate thing comes in.Erana said:But can I have a healthy non-sexual relationship in Skyrim? I don't like mandatory bonkings, and while we're talking orientations, I would like the asexual, hetero-romantic demographic to get to play. :3
Because you'd think the medieval society the world is being modeled after, specifically for TES V that's set with the Nords in Skyrim, would be a society that's intolerant to homosexuals. It doesn't mean you agree with or promote it, it's just simple fact that many medieval societies were this way.orangeban said:Why should it be intolerant to homosexuals? As far as I'm aware intolerance is not mentioned in the game and in Morrowind Crassius "Uncle" Curio is rather flamboyantly bi. Though he is a sexual harrassment case waiting to happen.RandV80 said:Personally I'm not a fan of putting modern day politics into my fantasy settings. It's not going to stop me from playing & enjoying the game but I find this sort of thing borderline 4th wall breaking and extremely lazy on the developers part.
A fantasy game such as this should be about immersion. If you want to put same sex relationships into it then either design a society which is tolerant towards it, like the ancient greeks for example, or if it's a standard intolerant society design the relationship around the trials and tribulations that actual medieval gay couples would have experienced.
Wouldn't that be far more interesting to play? Just seems all sorts of lazy to me to take what should be an intolerant towards homosexuality society and hard-code them to be gender neutral.
But they aren't making a big deal. In fact, I think the exact wording is "Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone."RandV80 said:Because you'd think the medieval society the world is being modeled after, specifically for TES V that's set with the Nords in Skyrim, would be a society that's intolerant to homosexuals. So basically what I'm getting at, until recently pretty much all RPG's or anything that had a romantic subplot was blind to homosexuality. Now with our society values changing, developers are still making games the same way but are simply changing the games from being blind to being gender neutral. This is what I'm calling lazy. If you're going to make a big deal about opening the game up to same sex romance, why not attempt to at least make it realistic?
In that case, I would rename her, "Sex Slave."Arina Love said:what if the fan was smoking HOT girl willing to do EVERYTHING for her idol? or smoking hot guy depending on orientation ^_^ i think i can live with that.MordinSolus said:Please tell me that there is no more Adoring Fan. He was annoying.
They had that in the Fable games. You could marry multiple people in different towns.Rylot said:I wonder when polygamy will be allowed in a game. I'm not a fan of it irl but I'd be curious how that'd play out in a game.
It really wasn't, they didn't MAKE the game, they only put their name on it, they're making Skyrim and it will be epicEHKOS said:I'm a little worried the game will be spread too thin. Exact figures (and debates on referring to one side of a contentious issue as "backwards") aside, there remains a substantial playerbase(including myself) who would rather not have liberal politicking shoehorned into our escapism.Jake Lewis Clayton said:I wouldn't exactly call it half of any nation in the developed world which is against same sex relationships.omicron1 said:Huh. Unless america really is still that arse backwards :\
