The again this is Skyrim and not Oblivion so I assume they have hired more than 6 voice actors to cover 'npcs'.
Over 70 voice actors, apparently.
And beards. But that's irrelevant.
..OH WHO AM I KIDDING, beards are relevant no matter what the topic.
OP: Yeah this is pretty good, but to be honest I expected no less of Bethesda. They've never seemed very conservative to me.

I wonder if they can fight alongside you carry things and be given equipment?

Why does there even need to be marriage in Skyrim to begin with? In Oblivion you were a lone wolf hero. Sure, you could own houses, towers, and kingdoms, but it doesn't make sense to tag along a wife or husband (or now "partner") into keeps to only attract more vampires and undead.
You mean other than all of the missions and optional companions you could take along? Besides, I'm sure they aren't going to force you to marry someone. And even if they do, just leave them at home if you don't want them tagging along.

So many steps forward from previous games then a step backwards. Well every new game needs something to stop it from being 100% good.

Awesome. Just... so great. It's so nice to see devs standing up for gay rights (in their own way).

I respect Bethesda for not making a big deal out of it.
The fact that it needs an article on the other hand...

I think it's preet cool that they've added the relationship thing into the game, but not made a big detail about it.....just for fun I think i'll make a gay catman and lizard man couple just make people lose faith in the world when they see the offspring.

Seriously though I like the idea and can't wait to start slaying the dragons.

I don't understand the idea that as a medieval fantasy, Skyrim should have a culture where homosexuality is looked down on. The only reason our medieval society disliked homosexuality was thanks to Christianity. There is no Christianity in Skyrim. Ergo, there is no intolerance towards homosexuals.

Dragons, relationships, children NPC's. Somehow I see a revenge driven killing spree coming on.

I want to go Dark Elf based on the pictures shown of the character types, but I was a Dark Elf last time, so I'll have the feeling that all heroes in Tamriel being the same species might cause said species to be seen as arrogant and dickish, even if in the game they're not. Any suggestions as to who I should be?

I'll be playing a female character so I hope my potential husband isn't so dense to not know which end of the sword to hold. If he dies, I'll just hook up with another woman instead, surely she won't be as intensely thick.

Seriously, the topic of gay marriage in this game is not even a big deal... I'll be legitimately outraged if their AI is just fucking retarded when they go with you. I don't fancy being an 18-time widow just because they were too stupid to look down with the sheer cliff arrived.

I'm a little worried the game will be spread too thin. I will trust Bethesda though, they really never let me down. Brink wasn't their fault...really it wasn't lalalalalala.
Obviously not, because they did not develop Brink.

And anywho, Brink was good, shush.

OT: I hope Bethesda don't do this in a trivializing Fable II way, where, y'know, they still cry out as if you were of the opposite gender in the middle of sex. But at least then people actually had set sexualities, and not sexualities that switched according to your preference.

I hope they address the fact that not everyone will be bisexual, and that gay marriages probably won't be accepted in all cultures.
Nothing huge, but at least in a small way.

I wonder if Relationship counselling will also be included.

"He cheated on me with Skorda the taven wench when i was away trying to make a living!"

"She abandons me for months on end to kill dragons! I have needs!"

I wonder if you could also use marriage to gain power...

*Is thinking of too many ways to abuse this option for profit in game*

I figure my partner will get eaten by a dragon as soon as we step into the wilderness.
is that what they call wife killing in Tamriel?
"well it's like this officer we were taking a moon lit walk when this big dragon appeared and just ate my wife!"

So how long before Fox News makes a hysterical broadcast claiming this promotes sexual deviancy by marrying the same sex or a different species.

That will be the first mod to get released.
I have no doubt that it will be Slof, she creates some pretty high quality wacked out mods.

Pfffh, what does it matter? As long as the bi**h can carry my junk and clean my armour, I'll marry a Khajit or Argonian no problem. Long as he/she doesn't touch my daedric s**t, we'll be copacetic. Which race has the best carrying capacity/makes the best marriage material for a pack-mule wife?

But they aren't making a big deal. In fact, I think the exact wording is "Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone."

Frankly before you start wondering about homosexuality, what about relations between races? In a world that is still pretty racist (see Morrowind with Dark Elves, Argonians and Khajits, Oblivion really just Argonians and Khajits.)
Yeah the racism angle is exactly what I'm talking about. Because racism is frowned upon in our society doesn't mean our in-game fantasy world should be a perfect racism-free multicultural society, I'm suggesting the same thing with homophobia.

If you're a strapping young male Red Guard that can buy a house in a Nordic village, meet a handsome Orcish lad, get married in a church & move in together, and your neighbors don't even bat an eye, that's just plain weird. It doesn't really harm anything but considering this series is supposed to be all about immersion I'm going to call them out on cutting corners here.
