Can't balance/control your behaviour regarding gaming? I have no sympathy, I just hope the Game Industry won't get flak for this yet again.
Same, I actually laughed. It seems insensitive but if he's that kind of person then quite frankly, no life has gone to waste.
You and I will go along just fine, I am expecting to be 'hated' on for my cold message.
Bring it on, I'll be on standby to defend us.

I still think it's too early to pass judgement on this particular case - we don't know what game the kid was playing, were there any circumstances other than the game that may have lead to his demise, is this kid a victim of cyber-assassins, who killed off his character and then he broke the cyanide capsule between his teeth, the possibilities are pretty much endless at present.

Of course, if it was World of Warcraft that was being played during the demise, this could result in another of these server-based funerals, after that one girl from China (IIRC) died after playing for 3-4 days straight. They actually roleplayed her funeral on WoW, which is incredible, because most people have no idea about the concept of Role Play in that game at all. I'm not bitter.

So, I'd love to hear more information when it's available.

Hilarious considering the context of this thread. Well, hilarious if it wasn't so sad anyway.

And, really? 20 years from now their friends are gonna remember how someone nicked something at the funeral instead of anything else about their life? Hyperbole much?

It might have something to do with going to the bathroom. It said that Moon play straight and then had a meal. He might not have used the batroom for like ten hours and it might have had something to do with his death, but I'm just guessing.

I have play games all night and day with no sleep, but I ate and pissed when I had to.

That probably will be the first thing that is mentioned. I can almost guarantee it.

He clearly didn't die of video game playing. There was a whole host of problems that could have been the culprit. He just happened to be playing video games when it occurred. If he was running a marathon and this happened, no one would be saying running marathons is unhealthy.

Things like this are annoying. The media fails again though. They don't have all the information so they put out a misleading story. Next thing you know, video games are the source of all evil.

That Guy Who Phails said:
Sounds like a seizure to me.

Probably shouldn't have been playing games in the first place.
Photosensitive seizures don't take 12 hours to happen, it's within a few minutes at most. And the story didn't report an epileptic fit if one did happen. A seizure involves involuntary muscular contraction, and appear quite violent in nature. There would be no mistaking it. He was also a regular there, so it seems unlikely he had a seizure from the monitors. Furthermore, the peak onset age of photosensitive epilepsy is 10-14 years. And this is only 5% of all epileptics. Also, if you crunch the numbers, there are just over 300 million people in the US, and out of that, 1 million are epileptic. The population of South Korea is 48.75 million. In the US, that is 0.3% that are epileptic. That is 166,000 people in South Korea. It becomes even more unlikely when you consider the fact that only 5% of those people are going to suffer from photosensitive seizures. It's not very likely he was 1 of about 8300 people who suffers from such a condition in South Korea, considering he was a regular at the place. Statistics lesson over, LOL.

On a separate note, this kid is dead, it's pretty stupid to call the guy a moron. For all you know he had some kind of heart condition that "actually" caused his death. Unless that is you are stupid enough to buy into the idea that video games can kill you. I mean, they certainly can, but more like cigarettes or too much Pepsi, long and slow, not sudden. He most likely had some undiagnosed condition that an autopsy will reveal. Thanks again to the media for jumping on this one.

Speculation that it was World of Warcraft hasn't been proven from any reputable source to my knowledge. Once it has, I'll be all over it like Maple Syrup, but I'm confused by the fact that it was only 12 hours.

ive just been through 2 all-nighters in a row, so i doubt it has anything to do with "addictive videogames" and all this other blabber. he was probably either sick or maybe drugged.

If 12 hours of gaming kills you... how do we have any QA staff left alive? Crunch time hits and 12 hours of gaming is nothing and on a normal day you have 8 hours of work gaming + X hours of personal gaming generally exceeding 12 hours a day on a regular basis.
