be nice if they included Tyrannids instead and let me live out my fantasy of being a Space Marine fighting off the Zerg horde, or a Space Marine fighting off the Arachnids on Klendathu.

But i guess adding more bits to an existing art asset is easier than creating a totally new non-humanoid model.
Well, they made a Starship Troopers game in 2005, but it sucked balls.

WarHammer 40k has so much potential for games. I hope this game sells well so we can see more in the near future. I see the decision of putting a Space Marine as the protagonist as a way to cater to more people, next installments should get other races playable.
For the Emperor!...should be doing this, already getting my hopes up...

If I'm not mistaken Freedom Fighters is from IO Entertainment (Hitman, Kane and Lynch).

I still won't get my Ciaphas Cain FPS...

I think he's pretty much the only Warhammer 40,000 character that actually gets laid...(but I could be wrong, there's a lot of damn books to read)
Ragnar before he became a space marine gets some action with his village girlfriend. It's implied through the story some of the stories that the Psychoindoctrination and code of honor pretty much breeds out the desire of men in space marines not to mention the culture that is forced in them.

Niceee, i have to admit that i saw this coming from a mile away. Warhammer games do not usually have just one enemy race in the game :p

This news along with the carnifex we saw in the original trailer speaks of wonderful wonderful things. In particular, I want to play the enemy races off against each other!

Does anyone know if you can play any type of space marines other than the Ultrasmurfs? I didn't hate them but then I read the current Space Marines codes and now I want them and whoever wrote the fluff for that abomination to die in horrible painful ways.

True to some extent

There is a fifth major Chaos God who appeared in earlier editions of Warhammer 40,000

* Malal - The Renegade God - God of Anarchy and Nihilism

He's not mentioned much anymore though.
Right, I didn't mention the 5th chaos god that's opposed to all the others because he was killed by lawyers. Literally, somehow a scenario arose wherein the author who created that "character" retained the rights to use him/it, and he's never granted those rights to Games Workshop. So canonically Malal doesn't exist anymore because GW isn't legally allowed to mention his existence - thus, death by lawyers.

While vile mutants still draw breath, there can be no peace. While obscene heretics' hearts still beat, there can be no respite. While faithless traitors still live, there can be no forgiveness.

This game looks like fun and I've been waiting for a good 40k shooter since Fire Warrior.

The only problem I see is that it seems that most of the time it wil be just you and your squad and no extra allies. I hope the battlefields and missions will be more open and hopefully not all of the Imperial Guardsmen will be tainted.

"In the name of the Emperor, finish this!"

I still don't think one marine would be able to stand up to multiple chaos marines at one time. The chaos marines have 10 millenia of battle experience
*snipped*
Well no actually as far as I know they don't. Because time goes slower in the warp it's only been a century or two since the Horus heresy to them. Hence why they use a lot of dated armor patters and weapons.
The time in the warp is as variable as all other aspects of the warp. For some areas it has been more than ten millenia. They have dated equipment because, short of looting imperial corpses, they have no way of getting better technology. They own whatever they had when they turned to Chaos and whatever they have looted off of chapters that have more recently turned to Chaos/chapters they have fought and beaten.

For the majority of Chaos Marines life in the warp is one of endless battle. Space Marines compensate for this by spending their downtime training but it's no replacement for actual combat experience.

To quote Eliphas: "Veterans of ten millennia of unholy war wait to grind you beneath the treads of their mighty boots"

I think a lot of writers forget that in 40k humans and especially marines are not the good guys. If anything that would be Elder or Tau.
Marines are definitely not the good guys, in so much that the Imperium is a soulless fascist police state so concerned with protecting its existence that it has made life an unlivable hell for everyone involved.

Personally, I think the Orks are the good guys, I mean, everyone in the galaxy seems to be drowning things in war, at least the orks seem to have fun doing stuff. Seriously, outside of maybe the tau (who it seems everyone has just agreed to ignore) orks are like the only source of joy in the known universe. Add to that that they're seemingly incorruptible, whereas humans seem to be the source of most of the chaos in the galaxy.
