Swing and a miss!

You might as well be that first pilot down the Death Star trench. Honestly, I think Square-Enix is just screwing with their fans right now. "We'll remake one, but it will be the least desired one of all." Final Fantasy X was a good game, but darn it, I'd take VIII, IX, IV, and VII before X.

I have a mental image of Japanese business men in suits huddled around a boardroom table snickering.
Remaking those would be much more costly than just giving a HD makeup to a PS2 era game. Because games like Final Fantasy VII use 2D environment. They would actually had to make a new game from scratch, like Tomb Raider Anniversary (remake of the first Tom Raider) to look decent in a PS3.

This will solely be an HD upgrade with forgettable fixes and new bugs. You watch.

It's not the FFVIII remake I'd murder a small child for, but I'll take it. I love FFX and even Tidus has a special place in my heart (the corner reserved for the few whiny, self-absorbed protagonists I don't despise), plus I've always wanted to see what the game would have looked like if the entire thing had been done in Well Rendered Cutscene-o-Vision.

They'd better not screw with the sphere grid. I loved that thing.

One of the best in the series gets a remake, best turn based combat, one of the best scripts, best soundtracks, and a fun sphere grid.

I can get behind that. Way more than I would for VII remade.

It's like they looked at all the message boards filled to the brim with requests for an ff7 remake and misread 7 as 10

Oh come now, they already made a bloody sequel to this insipid piece of shit and now they're "remaking" it. I can tolerate a remake of a cult classic by a smaller company which truly needs the money (e.g. Team ICO's remake of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus) but methinks Square Enix should try to see if they can make a new Final Fantasy game that's actually worth a damn instead of wallowing in their own shit.

My friends, methinks it's time to let this franchise die. There hasn't been a good Final Fantasy game since VII (or, arguably, IX.)

I'm sold on the Vita as of now (and possibly the PS3.) Final Fantasy X was one of the best games I've ever played and my favourite game in the Final Fantasy franchise, so I'm ecstatic that they're actually remaking this.

7, 4, 6, 10, 8, 12 , # , #.

And really, Square Enix? I'm more ticked that you'd put out a remake at all, after denying us a FF7 remake all this time. I'd thought you'd stick to avoiding remakes/ trying new things (which, while I may not always like your direction, always appreciated your effort), but this is a low cash-grab. I'll stick to my PS2 version of the game, which I find memorable, and love.

EDIT: And wow, I am surprised at the desire for a VIII remake. THAT one I wouldn't mind too much remade.

You know...I like this. As long as they actually make the game new rather than just cleaning it up this could be great. FFX remains one of my favourite FF's and in terms of play time is HUGE, all in.

If they redub Tidus I'll be even happier.

Oh and as for why this and not VII, VII will cost them a LOT of money to remake, you do realise that yeah? Plus it's entire design is still fitted around the world map approach which worked great then but with modern tech might feel a little lacklustre so I can see arguments breaking out over how to approach that. I wish they'd redo it but I can understand the hesitation and FFX will be a LOT easier for them to remake, even to redesign with modern graphics. The game is set up for that.

If this gets made, expect the all-singing, all-dancing FFX-2 for a Christmas release 2013! Y.R.P... Great :(

Really Squenix, do we need to relive the past? Just get Versus completed FFS! And lay off the spin-offs for a year or two. None of them have brought the money in- save Crisis Core maybe.

Shit, I adore this game - it's one of my favourite games of all time. Sadly I don't have a PS3, but this might just be the final straw that tempts me into getting one. I guess I'll have to see what it looks like first.

Well I like X (its one of my favourite in the series) I dont know who they are aiming this at, fans will still have their original copies and it still looks quite nice even today (probably why its being done in HD) I actually finished my second playthrough a few months ago.

While those who disliked it obviously arent going to buy it again, so who does that leave the obsessive fans and the few who wanted to play it before or have heard about it in the last 10 years but for some reason never got the chance to try it?

I can understand the release for Vita a bit more but I wont be getting either version unless its really cheap and has some impressive extras I have already spent over 200 hours with the game time to give it another long break.

They are going to have to work hard to give this release any considerable impact if they are just looking at sales figures maybe they have forgotten that when X was released originally the visuals were stunning and the FF brand had hugely expanded its fanbase during the PS1 era and as such people were eagerly awaiting the next installment, now it is an old game and lots of people have moved on.
