I get the feeling that SqEnix has something against money. Maybe someone over there has a fear of drowning in all the money they'd make on a remake?
They did, it was called Final Fantasy XII.Scars Unseen said:Honestly, I think they should make an open world (single player) ARPG title. ].
So another mother 3 fan, I love loved the game and the effort put into the fan translation for it however even if that game was brought over it would have to be localized.BehattedWanderer said:An international release of Mother 3?John Funk said:In all of gaming-dom, is there a project more desperately desired and imagined than a current-gen remake of Square-Enix's legendary Final Fantasy VII?
And they intend to match the might of sluggers like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Super Mario RPG, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy III/VI by continuously making new, sleep-inducing, bland, uncharismatic FF sequels?...said it wasn't a priority for Square-Enix. Rather, said Nomura, Square-Enix wanted to make new games that it hoped would equal or even surpass the titans of ages past.
Good luck with that.
i weep every-time my self.. also was this being made using the dragon quest 8 engine?? Also for those who don't know Dragon Quest V had a full ps2 remake "japan only" before the ds port.CrazyGirl17 said:I like FFVII... but I'd just settle for a good game, or at least for them to make Kingdom Hearts 3... (Though if they are remaking a game, why does it have to be FFX?!)
...Wow... that looks awesome... Fuckin' Square-Enix...Innegativeion said:Wouldn't be the first timeNicolaus99 said:Squenix: "Supply? Demand? lolwhut? How about some FF XIV instead?"
The really sick part is that if some fans up and did it themselves, Squenix would send lawyers to shut them down.
Sometimes, when I need a good cry, I just curl up, think of what could have been, and weep.
Uh wasn't Strange Journey SMT 4...? I'm pretty sure it was, even if it didn't get the number on the box.l3o2828 said:But, Kitase sucks ass...And every single FF game after X sucked ass...
I...You know what Square?
I don't care, Atlus provides better than you in every way so frankly, take your subpar JRPG games with you, i have a Persona 5 and SMT4 To look up to.
True but it doesn't play like a modern game, so maybe people want to see improvements to its archaic systems. Also a remake would still be expected to have a significant number of additions, little tweaks, more lore and secrets for dedicated players to pick up on. I think the clamor for the remake is simply as strong as it is because there was a time when we were literally sure we were getting one.Amnestic said:Sounds like a pretty cool idea all things considered. Shame it never made it into the game.John Funk said:Nomura did reveal a little bit of trivia about Final Fantasy VII's development, however. Optional party member Yuffie Kisaragi was initially planned to be a wanted criminal instead of just a perkily annoying Materia thief, and the players would see different wanted posters for her all around the grimy metropolis of Midgar. The trick was that each poster would have a different face on it, and when you finally met Yuffie her appearance would change depending on which poster you'd last viewed.
I don't know why people want remakes so much. The game's still available to play and according to a quick wiki it's available for purchase on the PSN. What's stopping you from enjoying some 15 year old retro goodness? Graphics don't make the game guys!
I can see this being done as a hilarious troll move on Square-Enix part. I look forward to them revealing game footage of that and a remake of FF9 4-1-2013. In all seriousness though, I would love to see a remake or, re-release of 8 and 9. Loved the Junction system and, how easy it was to shatter it.ForgottenPr0digy said:where's my final fantasy VIII remake?
^ THIS. FFXIII was just awful... XII wasn't much better... didn't bother with XI as it was an MMORPG... didn't get into IX as the chars looked too much like kids... and VIII uh... meh.Suicidejim said:inb4 FF7 hate. Also, while I love that game, and would love to have a remake, I'd happily settle for non-awful Final Fantasy games in general.
It's amazing how utterly wrong you are. It really is quite fascinating.Songblade said:^ THIS. FFXIII was just awful... When Hope in FFXIII was whining -backstory- whatever blahdiblahdiblahOMGJUSTSHUTUP... well, pretty much for all the characters. I didn't care about ANY of them.
X was good though - well, the first one - not that "I didn't get to play with dollies as a child" sequel ... terrible voice acting aside...
I kind of MISS the old battle styles. Now everything has to be flashy/fast/combos/seemless integration... and f*ck kids as main characters... just... no.
So... what was the point again? Hmm. Oh yeah. FFVII remake would be nice - AS LONG as it's not retarded like pretty much everything after it.
One thing I think you, and many ignorant gamers, fail to realize is that while yes it might make a shit ton of money in sales, but if the project also costs a shit ton of money to produce then the amount of money that Square-Enix would actually see out of it would actually be quite small, if any. And if Square-Enix doesn't think there'd be a significant enough return on their investment, they're not going to green light a project. You can call them greedy and lazy if you want to, but they need to make money if they're going to continue to make games for you to consume and enjoy.Waaghpowa said:Yet they're going to do an HD FF10. It's obvious that they're not going to remake FF7 because of the money and time required to update it. It's the reason why there are so many HD collections from the last gen, all they do is widen the aspect ratio and resell it, which is significantly less work and money than updating a PS1 game. It all reeks of laziness and greed.
What's silly is I think that a FF7 remake would make a lot of money, but they wont do it because of the risks. I would have bought it, FF7 was literally the only FF game I could finish aside from Tactics.
Man you must work at Square if you have such in-depth knowledge about the development costs of the game. I mean, we all know most AAA games these days are super duper cheap and these huge corporations don't have any any money to spare, so you have to be absolutely right, being as well informed as you clearly are, that Square couldn't possibly see a profit from this venture.canadamus_prime said:One thing I think you, and many ignorant gamers, fail to realize is that while yes it might make a shit ton of money in sales, but if the project also costs a shit ton of money to produce then the amount of money that Square-Enix would actually see out of it would actually be quite small, if any. As for me, I wish people would STFU about FFVII. Hoenstly I don't see why it deserves such legendary status. Not that it was a bad game by any means; hell it's one of the few Final Fantasy games I've ever finished and it was the first I ever played. However, it isn't the best Final Fantasy game I've played and it certainly hasn't aged well.
Eh... I would say that FFXII(which is my favorite FF in the past several years) was open-ish at best. Certainly better than FFX or FFXII in that regard, but then a noose would be less restrictive than either of those games. Also? Not an ARPG.SmarterThanYou said:They did, it was called Final Fantasy XII.Scars Unseen said:Honestly, I think they should make an open world (single player) ARPG title. ].
You know that's what I was saying right? They don't think there would be a significant return on the game. Which is precisely why they're not doing FF7 and why they're all ok with doing HD versions of all the games from last gen. It's cheap and easy and guaranteed to get a decent return. I would say it's both lazy and greedy to capitalize on peoples own ignorance for purchasing the same game from last gen that required little work to produce, since the game was already made.canadamus_prime said:One thing I think you, and many ignorant gamers, fail to realize is that while yes it might make a shit ton of money in sales, but if the project also costs a shit ton of money to produce then the amount of money that Square-Enix would actually see out of it would actually be quite small, if any.
