It's been quite a while since I posted anything here.

I call this one 'Work In Progress'. I like literal titles.
A simple Sepia filter and contrast increase can do a surprising amount to an otherwise uninteresting image.
I've always liked the off-center approach to photographing a subject like that. I know there's a name for it, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I think a friend of mine calls it the "rule of two-thirds" or something like that.

Lost In The Void

Lost in thought you enter me, A whisper of sanity restrains me
All I want is one more day, though I know it is not meant to be
I stare into pools of life and journey, a smile of happiness and content
We lightly touch and turn away, confused, unsure of what to say
We both know the answer to the question never to come
Why don?t we say it our self

A silence breaks the fun we had
So happy and Calm what else to be had
A sweet denial lay below the surface
Hiding and waiting to finally be shown.
A smile breaks your face, a joyous sound
Escapes those beautiful lips

Put thoughts aside I?d rather run
Pastures green with you by my side
Lay in the grass cool soaked in morning dew
Talk about the good times I?ve had with you
No one knows where we?ve gone
And we are content

Dazed, confused, what to do
The thought of you, lest stop it at once
A pain with no gain, destroying faith
In love and hate what is the difference
The blade to my skin and a trail of red on the steel

Your smile lights my day as lay in my bed
Alone yet again for another night without light
Your light brightens the lightlessness, shines through the darkness
Of a broken soul, of a broken mind
Bring out of the chaos of a mind without rest

The loss of it all is a deadly thing
Loss of passion and of feeling for those
Your soul screams for apathy, is granted no respite
No thought must dwell, the purge has begun
A friendship no less, but a closeness no more

Not by one?s fault this doth happen, but the curse of the sand
Separation of sands left us all fade away
Born alone and die alone
Seems to be the fate of us all
The life in between however
Deserves a little more

Flip on the news, hear the blues
Of a Terrible world all dazed and confused
Lost souls who wander the world in search of the truth
Find nothing put pain and suffering
Why do they try, for trying is failure?
Just waiting to happen

A quiet man about to lose
The love of his life through and through
A bleeding heart, which bleeds for her
Tear out the weakness, present it to her
His eyes burning and soul imploding
Upon a face he wishes to see but won?t

The man and his son alone in a field
Baseball and fun, for the man and his son
?Hey Daddy what?s that??
Nothing but a scream and forgotten face.
A man and his son, buried in a field

The women see?s her date, what a man
Blonde tall and handsome what more could she want
Something?ll happen tonight, no matter what she thinks
A seed born inside a woman too young
Another young bastard brought into the world
No one will want him cast out and alone
He cries for his daddy though he will always be without one

They aren't amazing but I've gotten a few compliments on them

I was taught "Rule of thirds". Basically, divide the image into thirds horizontally and vertically, composing the photo so that its prominent features fit within a third.

Of course, I tend to completely disregard all learned theory in practice and just go with what looks good to me.
Rule of Thirds, that's what it was. That would also explain why my camera came with a 3x3 grid option. Speaking of, I'll be replacing that today, with any luck.

when you do these things,
these terrible
hurtful things,
I am without words.
I cannot speak.
I cannot stop you.
I can only
watch...
observe
as you end lives
wreck homes
mutilate spirits.
"it?s for the greater good"
you say
What good?
no good
only
evil.
but do you think twice?
no.
you are always right
never at fault
you
are
perfect.
no one can improve on you.
you
are
perfect
you can do
no
wrong
you are flawless
amazing
and
absolutely
positively
perfect

What do you think?

I've done a bit more work on the Ursadon piece. Not so much on the bear itself, though there have been some small details on that front too, just not very many. Anyway, I've mostly been working on the background, creating atmosphere and adding in foliage to start to get the vibrant jungle think going on. This is just a taste of things to come in terms of the background.

I haven't posted anything in here in forever... I've been far too busy with other things (work work, and more work). But I guess I could put up the latest thing I've finished. It's another illustration from my story,
In The Rain [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.110578.3413768]. I haven't written up the chapter this takes place in yet, that's the next one I'm currently working on.
Yes, I know Kerricks are probably too "cute" for most people to take seriously, but I still hope I got my point across.

Here are some lyrics I just came up with. I don't have a title, I'm not even sure what it's about. Personal battles, interrogation in a mental hospital, a man kidnapped by terrorists, I don't know, I just got it from the back of my head. Anyways, enjoy.

"Looking through these empty windows, all I see is darkness.
Drag me away, interrogate me.
Why am I here, my cause was just?
You?ve deprived me of my freedom

Taken my beliefs away
Asking me to tell my secrets
I refuse everytime
My soul is not for sale

Scream at me
Humiliate me
Provoke me
Lie to me
Ask me again

You put me away in this room
Deprived of heart and soul
I look in the mirror, what do I see?
Nothing but my dead reflection
I can see from here
I'm about to give up
Are you about to win?

The light will shine upon me again
Your prison can't stand forever
I will see the dawn through the opened door
I will break free from this prison

Everytime you walk I hear the footsteps
Like hammers to my head the closer you get
You look me in the eye with a new mask
Ready to show me your next trick

Kill me
Break my mind
Ruin me
Play this game you call torture

Deprive me
Destroy me
Eat away at my soul?

You put me away in this room
Deprived of heart and soul
I look in the mirror, what do I see?
Nothing but my dead reflection
I can see from here
I'm about to give up
Are you about to win?

The time has come, it all ends now
For the last time you open the door
I will not give in to your power
It's your turn to bow down?"

I didn't think you had that kind of brutality in you, Chris.....
Even among the alien-looking Kerricks making it seem more surreal, that's pretty bad.......

Awww, shucks. It's totally possible for Kerricks to be SRS BZNS when I want them to be.

While that may be, I'm confused as to when 'serious business' meant something like that!

Either way, I LOVE how you did the blood effect. Nice job, mate.

I dislike my drawn work, it doesn't look good at all, so, I will compensate with my photography.

Thank you. Have you read the story (in progress) [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/18.110578.3413768] that that picture goes to yet?

And for another example of SRS BZNS that I'm pretty sure you may or may not have seen before:

I've only just started getting interested in photography, so some criticism/feedback would be great. =]
These are probably my favourites so far:

What do you think?

I know they're not great, but I think it's a start at least.

I loved the second one, it took me a while to realize it was a streetlight.

The first and third seemed a bit cliched, though. The whole sunrise/sunset thing's been done by about everyone. (I dunno why.) Maybe try adding a unique perspective into the sunrise/sunset?

Perspective is kinda wonky, and that hall is eerily long. In some cases it adds to the atmosphere, but in places like the stove it looks a bit off. Good work though. Your work with facial expression is amazing, especially with "Get Out".

The only minor issue I can see with the second one is that the way he's walking looks a bit awkward. Maybe it's just that white line that's shooting out behind the foot which makes it look like his pattern of walking defies physics. Nice drawings as always, though.

Berethond is right. The second one is the most interesting. The other two are nice photos, but the silhouette at dawn/dusk has been done to death in photography. If you can find a way to make it your own, go ahead and do it, I just find them less interesting than the middle photo.

It's a big house. >__>
Okay, perspective is definitely still high up on my list of weaknesses. I'd've left the stove out, but it was kinda important for people to see that it was there and on.
...You can tell it's supposed to be on and emanating gas, right?
And thanks, I'm very happy with how that one turned out. More than anything else, I wanted to get across how serious the subject was without people stopping to think "awww, tha widdul pink thingeez ar so keYOOOOOT".
