A ton of games, the largest effect being Fable 2, believe it or not. Not the dog, but my family.
The way Lucien described how he did it is something I don't want to relive.

The most emotional I've gotten in a game is Baldur's Gate 2. I remember being terrified after I was thrown into the Asylum Dungeon and Bodhi giving her monologue about giving me time to run before coming to hunt. The horror of the dungeon was heightened knowing that I was on the run. Every time I rested, I half-expected her to show up and massacre my team.

The game also had frustration incarnate in the Illithid Stronghold.

Also, the saddest I've ever been in a game was a little bit later. When I was going into the graveyard to kill Bodhi, she appeared and stole away my girlfriend Aerie! In the final encouter with Bodhi I was then forced to kill Aerie who had been turned into a vampire! Before I found out that she could be revived, I was damning BioWare to the darkest pits of hell.

And I resolutely say that no charracter in gaming history is funnier than Minsc.

My very first thought was Kingdom Hearts
Shadow of the Colossus had a deep meaning to it I will agree
and I doubt anyone will say that any FF doesn't have a great storyline

on a side note: I can watch Saw, The Ring, Hostel, etc. without being scared
I can go into a pitch black room in the basement of an old building in the middle of the night, perfectly fine
but Resident Evil 4 scared me to the point (and I am quoting Yahtzee here but in my perspective) that if my cat had jumped onto my lap it would have been immediately launched off by a reflexive cannon-like blast of terrified piss

FF8 and MGS3. In FF8 when Rinoa was in like a coma or whatever I was really sad and I really wanted to break Ultamicia's jaw. And in MGS3 I felt SO bad for the boss.

legend of zelda: link's awakening, the puzzles, the story, the game play, not perfect but for the time, they were great my introduction to the genre and gaming as a whole, not the most emotionally touching game, but at the time, it was perfect

I was 11 when I first beat Ocarina of Time, and the ending was so bittersweet that it made me tear up.
Agreed. I replayed it on the Wii a few months ago and it still hit me pretty hard. It's so bittersweet.

Baldur's Gate 2 affected me too. Reaching the end after putting in hundreds of hours...it was an emotional end.

And to Undead Dragon King for mentioning the Illithid Stronghold: I hated those things. God I loathe them. No end of frustrations to be had in dealing with those creatures / that level.

Shadow of the Colossus was the only game that made me feel any sort of emotion. I mean after all of the stuff Wander had to go through, then finding out that *SURPRISE!* you were the bad guy all along!

Also whenever I fell off of the giant flying serpent colossus or the final colossus while in time trial mode made me feel intense anger.

Um. Shadow of the Colossus for awe-inspiration.
I remember FFX actually felt quite immersive. Peculiar =/
Bioshock occasionally gave me the creeps.
And Halo 3 sure knows how to make me swear.

Mass Effect......NO! NOT LIKE THAT!
Like what?

I'd actually have to Say Mass Effect is the game that gave me a fair bit of emotion, I had such an attachment to the characters.

I don't know what YOU were thinking of.

Not sure I want to actually.

You know what I got another one, the ending of Halo 3.
Yeah I'm a fanboy so what?

That ending with the ceremony and the Arbiter shaking hands with the human commander then the scene with the chief and Cortana at the end.
Great stuff.

I thought that the meat circus in Psychonauts was freakier than anything else I've played.

Errm, happiest that I've felt might've been with Dungeon Keeper. I just loved abusing the heroes so much.

I'm pretty sure that Counter Strike has made me the angriest- there's nothing quite like dying 10 seconds into a round three times consecutively.

The most exhilarating is definitely GunZ. I don't care what any of you think; TBF'ing a whole group of people is the hardest and most satisfying thing I've ever achieved.
