I like that you tried to make it more like a news website, it was a good change.
That being said, maybe next time you decide to have a MASSVIVE OVERHAUL to the website, you should... Ohh I don't know... WARN PEOPLE!?

Srly guys, where do you get all this nowadays desings? They're all the same (and not good, and overly complicated)
But still, I didn't like old design, so this one is ok for me.

Seems nice, like everything it'll take some getting used to though. The new layout it nice, but I have one qualm.
Where has all the blue gone!? I agree with the others that it feels less cozy now. I never thought I'd describe a site on my monitor being cozy.

It's too white. It's too bright. I miss the sidebar with the main features. I can't find news stories as easily without the big list the old site had. I'm navigating away from the site now, because my eyes hurt because it's too white and too bright. I don't like it. I don't care if it's new, that's no excuse. The old site worked damn near perfectly. A minor tweak would have sufficed. This much change is unnecessary. This feels far more limited. Oh, and, it hurts my eyes.
Agreed on it being way too bright. The slowness seems to have gone away in the last few hours, so I imagine it was just transition issues. As for everything else, we'll see how it goes. Personally I like to be able to pull up the page and quickly scan over the new videos/articles to see if anything catches my eye. If that hasnt been made more difficult then I'll consider it a lateral move.

To be honest I don't mind just supporting The escapist with this, especially because it seems like everyone else is complaining about it.

Still if it saves hours of your staffs' time (and you would know better than me) then I can accept that.

That's fair. I will give it more time... just... too bright... *seizure*It's ok, a lot for us here used to be GMs for not overly popular MMOs. I've heard some rants. Give us some time to get the basic site running smoothly (we've added a lot of fun things on the backend that the old site couldn't support) and then we'll start doing some things you definitely haven't seen before.Triality said:

Looks like its time to find another, another game news website. I just don't understand how so many of these sites are "streamlining" to the add facebook crowd where shit has to be cluttered and jumbled all over the website.
*Pro-tip: It should never take an article or comments section over 5 minutes to load on a site unless it is being horribly crippled via attacks or a massive influx of users. Especially when I can get 5+ gig games off digital distribution services in about 30-45 minutes.
I'm afraid to say that unless there is a way to switch between or bring back the older layout I will be gone from this site just like I left Kotaku and Gawker media.
My pickings for good gaming sites are beginning to get pretty slim. Off to check out Rock, Paper, Shotgun.

It is going to take awhile for me to get used to this set-up. Everything seems more shifted around and hidden, compared to how everything was listed down the sides or front in more obvious ways.

Seriously though, it sucks. Please give us an option to set the layout to 'classic' (like Kotaku did). This way everybody will be happy - you guys get your new shiny site, we get our good old Escapist back.

This new layout is absolutely atrocious. It doesn't look like there's any structure at all and some elements seem to blend together into the background.
What happened to my series index with the last 5 most recent episodes of each series listed.

It certainly speaks to right now. More open and flowing. Cleaner, blockier, easy-to-read serif fonts. I dig it. The lowercase 'g' in the bodycopy is a great touch. What is the font?

Also the availability of the video series via drop down was a great idea. Feels like the Gamestop site, but still clean.
Well to start I'm not going to insult you guys for the changes, like some people. I will admit though I preferred the old layout to this. It felt more welcoming and familiar (obviously I guess).

Not gonna lie, new Escapist is pretty horrible. I don't think I even have to say anything about the horrible white background, but the most annoying thing is that the site is using almost less than half of my screen. There is just these huge, white ugly bars on the sides of my screen making my eyes bleed.
Layout seems to be pretty terrible to, honestly. I mean, objectively this hasn't "ruined" the Escapist or anything, but we seem to have lost a lot and not gained very much by this update.
