While I hated Oblivion's scaling, I don't think it's fair that the first bandit I came across was armed with a rocket launcher that fired nuclear missiles.
But, there are fire-breathing ants.
Hopefully they turn up later in the game as well. They were so awesome.
I think those fire-breathing ants are what made me want the game.

Sorry, I should have updated but I found it an hour after I posted that :]
Now if I could solve how to kill some fireants I will be doing great.
I found dogmeat tore them a new hole - made the whole quest pretty easy even if he's proved somewhat disappointing against a Giant Radscorpion... (I'm so glad the game autosaves often, if he dies here, like in the original, he's dead for good...)

Loving the game so far, really feels like Fallout - some fascinating missions, no where near as boring during combat as Fallout got and I can't wait to try again as a bastard.

I don't have dogmeat, Can you send me a message hinting at where I find him?:(

So, quick question for anyone who stumbles upon it, how many weapons are you rolling with? Im going for expertise in energy, but took two ranks of gun nut to help out with all vast amount of rifles I am finding, so I can put them to good use.

I went into the school after getting out of the vault and got the chills, like silent hill chills, then proceeded to cap heads and run up to the top of the building, then outside for some hit and run in the ruined part. Damn this game is fun!

So Decoy let me get this straight.

If someone comes here and actual makes a solid argument on why fallout 3 sucks, you can just send the "Fire-breathing-ants" nuke to debunk it?

I hardly think that's fair!
Nothing's fair in the wasteland. Particularly the fire spewing ants.

I don't know if I should get Fallout or not. Reasons being I'm one of those freaks that didn't like Oblivion because of the reason it gave to much freedom to soon for my tastes. However this is peaking my intrest. Any word of advice on to get it or not?

har har! Thanks to my superior charisma, I've taken the animal friend perk. No more nasty Yao guais! (I hope that's how it works)

I've also taken the mysterious stranger perk. I've yet to see him though. Does he only pop up in the wastelands? I could've used him getting out of a main questline place. (it was hell for me and I had to get addicted to just about everything to make it out but I'm sure anyone with more guns/ammo/grenades/gunskill will fare better than me.)

I'm sorta getting sick and tired of not being able to use my speech to talk things out. Next playthough I'm gonna make a super gunner/lockpick/medicine guy. Those seem to have a lot of value in fallout 3. (not really lockpick but I've missed out on about the 1.5x the number of locks than computers and I'm really curious..)

While I'm quite worried that this game is going to make my head spin in circles and cause me to spew split pea soup all over my walls in much the same way Oblivion did, I just purchased it on Steam.
Here's hoping it doesn't suck. I remember when Oblivion came out everyone was like "ZOMG BEST GAME EVAR!" Then once they sat down and rubbed the stars from their eyes a lot of people realized how terrible that game was. I'm really not trusting anyone else's opinion this time around.

Just to say, did I miss a meeting - because I loved Oblivion and I'm quite befuddled by all the people who didn't enjoy it. Especially the implication that it's some kind of hated and hyped game, not knocking people who didn't like it (I can understand that it could put people off) but was there really this implied silent majority who didn't like it?

Sorry probably wrong thread though... Here have this to make up for it -

I'm a bit of a hoarder at the moment - especially to help with ammo problems. So basically everything other than energy weapons (lasers just don't do it for me). Seriously considering going for the +50 weight perk at the moment.

306 Sniper Rifle
Hunting Rifle
10mm Pistol (for backup)
Assault Rifle (prefer vanilla to the Chinese variety)
Scoped .44 Magnum
Missle Launcher
Pulse Grenades
Rock-it Launcher
Minigun
Spiked knuckles

And my current favourite combo -

Combat Shotgun
Ripper

Though I've got my eye on the Fat Man and anyone know if the repellant stick effects any other creatures in a wierd way or only the pig things? Might buy it back if it can help with the bane of my life - the giant radscorpion

Really glad weapons only become unsable when they break, rather than vanish from the inventory.

Why not? You can find them, why shouldn't they? Come to think of it, it would be weird if every bandit was armed with a small gun. They live their lives robbing people so I'm pretty sure they mug people if their weapons too. They should have strong weapons.

.. although it's a bit unfair from a gameplay perspective, of course.

Said bandit was wearing a loin cloth and some god damn leather straps as armour. Watching him whip out a nuclear rocket launcher, presumably from his ass, was pretty bizzare.

I really want to get Fallout 3 , but not for my 360 (too many games already) but I don't want to get it on my PS3 , as there will be no downloadable content and once I complete the game I'll be bored as hell.
