What do we all think of the VATS system?

Cool? Tiring after a while? Pointless?

Please awnser this! Can someone tell me of Fallout followers that like folks with high karma?
´Cause every potential follower I find calls me a "goody two shoes" and wont come. I already have dogmeat, but I need someone else.
Follow the main quest some and get into the citadel. There lies a paladin buddy. Dogmeat. You can buy charon for 2000 caps from the bar in underworld. And perhaps pick up a super mutant companion.

What about the woman who helps out with stealing the Declaration of Independence? She implies she'd join you again and she's definitely on the good side.

On the 360: A lifesaver. (I cannot, for the life of me, get used to aiming weapons with those sticks)
On the PC: Fun to use occasionally, but gets tiring if used regularly.

Fallout 3 lacks the humour and wittiness of the original Fallout games, which is probably what the people are complaining about the most. The dialogue is completely borked, while the fact that you absolutely have to engage in combat eliminates the need for a diplomatic approach.
First off, I feel that much of the humor is retained, I play through this game and laugh alot.
Also, there are a fair amount of combat situations you can avoid, except for with raiders and creatures, which you also could not avoid in the original. I like most of the dialogue as well, these complaints are unfounded

You can also buy a bodyguard in Paradise Falls, or also, three children from Paradise Falls, and if we're not talking about high karma only, there's also Jericho who you probably already knew about

Just got to play for the first time today - loving it so far. The world is just sooo detailed and immersive, it's incredible, really. And combat is pretty fun, VATS is cool.

OH, and who else -

guessed right away that you and your father weren't actually born in the Vault when that old lady at your birthday party says "It seems just like yesterday when he came-"

I am guessing I will be around level 15 after some more quests. Now, Anyone got any idea for garnishing some more xp?

Bullets Schematics Galore
Dart Gun - Picked this up from the Machinstist during the Superheros Gambit quest. Silent/Small gun. Uses darts for ammo.
Nuka-Grenade - Small nuclear grenade. Fat-Mans mini-nuke is still slightly stronger.
Railway-Rifle - Uses rail-way spikes to pin baddies to walls.
Shiskebob - Flaming sword.
Rock-It Launcher - Shoots household objects.
Bottlecap Mine - Improvised mine.

More later. Personally I was hoping for a custom-made energy weapon. No sign yet. :(

I just want to warn you guys, don't bother with the main quest to much. Without spoiling anything once you leave the Enclave base, just do something else or other quests because the ending is pretty shit.

So if want to really enjoy your experience, avoid ending for as long as possible because its a letdown.
Save. Thats now you win-win.

Righty, a pit of help plz?

I'm doing the side Quest in Paradise falls that involves saving some kids, but anyway. I could have gone the diplomatic way, and taken a side quest to be let in peacefully, but getting there was a long hike in itself, so I decided to barge in. I got past the second door, but there are about 10 guys, all well armed. How do I get through this? (And there's one girl with a katana who just freakin refuses to die)

Yeah, thanks for telling me right after I sacrificed myself for the good of humanity. And Fawkes couldn't do it?! You gotta be kidding me. That shit is redundant.

By the way, has anyone shot Tenpenny and Mr Burke yet? I have, with a Scoped Magnum in VATS. Soooo satisfying.

I"m set on ammo, missile launcher and plasma pistol FTW, but stim packs arekinda pricey in bulk, and my bottle caps drain fast. =P

So far, it's the friggin katana girl, seriously, how the hell does anyone survive 5 plasma shot, 3 shotgun shells, and a pistol round to the face?

Maybe set it on a lower difficulty level just for Paradise Falls? You'll get less XP, but the same ammo and weapons. Reset it to whatever you want after your slaver fight.
EDIT: A nice way to earn bottlecaps for those pesky stimpaks is to collect as many Pre-War Books you can (the not-burnt ones with a green cover) and sell them for 100 caps a piece at the Arlington Library.
