To all who want to save Simms,

Why? Don't you want that badass duster and hat?

I'm the SHERIFF biatches!
Cause he's a nice guy and you shouldn't kill someone for a hat?

Sure, we'll have a duel. Try to hit me from 50 metres away. Go on, give it a go!

Game is pretty fun...

but...why is there barely any quests?

Fallout 2 had way more than this

I understand some of these quests take longer than the old Fallout quests but still..it's really lacking in that department
No, it's really not, I have 40+ gameplay hours and I've spent most of that time doing quests, you just have to look harder for quests then you did in Oblivion, a game which you couldn't walk two feet without being approached by a mysterious stranger who wants something stolen, someone killed, someone save, etc.

I wonder how I managed to spend all that time in the game then.

Edit:

Actually it might be a bit inaccurate since I usually leave my PC and the game running while i sleep (Torrent business) so subtract at least half the hours present there.
I don't know man, why don't you explain to me why you spent that long in the game instead of making a snide post. I may spend that much time in the game, because as I said, I'm enjoying it. I was only making a remark about the lack of available quests.
Groovy Pants is the king of that.

On that note, you could do all of the content in Fallout 2 in about 3 days if you didn't dally too much. For me though, it was up in the air when to get power armor, because any quest after that was just routine. I like the idea that if I want to go through the game with a different character it won't take the better part of a month.

I'm absolutely loving this game, and have joined the horde of players sporting a sniper rifle and explosives. Here's a q: if you've spent a solid few days playing this game and have finished it, whats the replay value like? I'm considering either powering through the main quest going for a quick finish and start the game again or doing each and every question and exploring every inch of the map but I'm worried I might not feel that inclined to play after that. Thoughts?

God that's pathetic. We go from about 140, to about 40. My how times have changed.
I'm pretty sure they'll add more trough mods and dlc's.

Although the exploring value in Fallout 3 is way way better than in Oblivion, in Oblivion we only had forts and caves to explore, in Fallout 3 we have every kind of building begging to be explored, UFO's, radio station, little towns, tunnels, cities and my favorite THE WHITE HOUSE! ;o
I agree, I find Fallout 3's exploration to be incredibly fun

Won't find out till you limit your speech abilities and maximize your pain abilities, though seriously, someone needs to mod the stats right away, that +10 to carry wgt per str point isn't gonna cut it. The base should be lower on starting values like Hp, and carry wgt, so stats will have a better emphasis.

For all the good this game does, Bethesda strikes me as a company that just fudges the details to get into the "safe" category. I.E. making every character start with 150 hp (i believe that's the number) so you can't build an intolerably weak character. Like a 50 Hp character with max skills or a true diplomat. Also I like the scaling for skills, the old 300 system was wasteful, but at a 100 cap it still feels like your just getting started at doing what you do well, I think 150 should be the cap, but the scaling, i.e. how effective each point is, should be kept. So you can became a "Master of unlocking" or a "Charismatic Stallion", (can we do one more?) or an "explosives master mind" (okay done...)

I don't have enough money to buy Fallout 3 right away, as much as I'd like to, so I'll end up renting it about 3 PM later today. I'll be sure to comment on my First Impressions with the game in this thread ASAP.

Just be aware that this game doesn't get fun until you start to invest in your character and the people around him.

Also, I'm building up an army, I have Dogmeat and Charon, and I'm saving up to buy some slaves, should be fun

Finished torrenting it, and I'm surprised that they changed absolutely nothing from the review copy.

You can buy slaves in the game? How does that work exactly? Is there a limit to how many you can own? And how is Jack Thompson not ranting nonstop about this?
