Whats so interesting about a Vault Dwellers costume though? isn't it just a blue and yellow jumpsuit with a number on the back?

Do it up madmax style or something.
That's why I'm happy that Fallout 3 let's you take the clothes off of dead people unlike the first Fallout game. I swear, it took me so long to get rid of that suit

Jeez, why does this thread keep getting buried? Is nobody excited about Fallout 3?

I am! I'm making a Vault Dweller costume for Halloween (and the midnight release, if I finish it soon enough)!
Holy crap. YOU. MUST. POST. PICS.

Pleeeeeease.
He was being sarcastic and making an unfunny joke.
He's saying he didn't like Oblivion and that he thinks Fallout 3 will be the exact same

Since one of the reasons stated for this topic was for 'assertions of glee', I'd just like to assert my glee.

All over London, I'm seeing posters on bus stops and big ads on buses and black cabs. Every time I see one, a big grin crosses my face. I don't think I've been so excited for a game's release in... well, ever, actually. The only thing I can compare it to is Guitar Hero 3, but with that I at least went to my morning lecture before going out to get it (and then to another class before playing it, actually). In contrast, this coming Friday I'll be getting up at a silly hour of the morning to make sure I'm at HMV or Zavvi on Oxford Street to get the limited edition as soon as it opens because I was too dim to pre-order it. I'll then proceed to play it for as long as I possibly can before starvation/rigor mortis/RROD sets in.

I was really excited for a while, but hearing the Devs speak about it it's clear they've got no fucking idea what they're doing.

As much as I desperately want to pretend it isn't true, it looks like the Besthuda people made Oblivion with guns. And they're fucking proud[/] of it.

I wouldn't buy into all the hype guys. If you liked Oblivion and never played Fallout 1 or 2 then you would probably like this game. But let's be honest here, oblivion was probably one of the worst RPGs ever created. If any of you watched the official in-game footage or even the leaked 360 game when it was livestreamed or on youtube, you know it is oblivion with guns. I am a huge fallout fan and even pre-ordered it in June, but the more info that was released the more it came to light that it was going to have the same stink of oblivion was was just not a fallout game.

It might pass as a very mediocre game however.

M'kay, that's me.

When you say "honest", I'm sure you mean "opinion"... unless there's something I've missed, like an official announcement or something.

I fail to see what's wrong with that, apart from possibly the change of target audience. I loved Oblivion, adding guns will add a different side to the experience but if it's anywhere near as good, I'll be happily calling it my favourite game of the year.

I loved Fallout 1 & 2, AND Oblivion. So I guess I'm going to love this game either way.

You played Oblivion unmodded and liked it? Alright, let me ask you, what was your favorite part of oblvion? The completely fucked dialogue assignment? The terrible voice acting? The horrible dialogue? The lack of choice and consequence? The awful skins? The poor writing? The shitty main story? Or maybe it was the monotonous dungeon crawls? Or maybe even the blatantly bad animations?

The only thing that was good were some of the guild quests, like the dark brotherhood. The only thing that is different in fallout 3, really, are the guns, no more copy paste dungeons, and the fact that it is just a little bit better than oblivion, but not by much.

If you want another view of oblivion you could go watch the Zero Punctuation review on it. Just remember, replace the world oblivion with fallout 3 and you already have your review.

Sorry, you just told me to refer to a Yahtzee review for a fair and factual assessment? His reviews are good for a laugh, and nothing more.

Well, the way you describe it gives me little chance in defending Oblivion. You made it sound like like the worst game ever. You made it sound like Two Worlds, for Christ sake.

Yes, it has its flaws. But I like it. It has a certain charm that makes it extremely replayable for me. The voice acting gets a lot of stick, but I don't think it's that bad. Sure, they could have hired a lot more voice actors, but they made good use of what they had.

I accept all the flaws you stated, but I brush them aside. On paper you made it sound abysmal, but I found it to be an enjoyable experience. You need to read up on the definition of opinion.

So because he is funny now all of his reviews can't be factual? Yet you just agreed it has flaws, the same flaws that I saw when I played and the very same that even Yatzee sees. He so far accurately portrays what I felt for most of the games he has reviewed.

Thank you for agreeing with me that it is a steaming pile of shit. Anyway, I challenge you to look up the word Masochist.

I'm with Bowstring on this one. He stated there are flaws in Oblivion - like any other game in existence - but said he enjoyed it a lot, and to him Oblivion is a good game. Just because he challenges your opinion and Yahtzee's opinion doesn't mean he's wrong.

Same time as the console versions, and I've heard you can preorder it on Steam.

Resorting to name calling is a sure way to improve your argument.
Bowstring never agreed with your opinion, he admitted Oblivion has flaws. There is a difference.

Fallout 1 and 2, I believe, are the closest to perfection a game has ever been and although I did enjoy Oblivion it didn't captivate me like I had hoped. That said I am still looking forward to Fallout 3.

I wish people would stop with the "It's Oblivion with guns" argument. I don't see how that can be said when the games are based in entirely different universes. Oblivion with guns would be just that, running around a medieval town blowing up people and demons with your nuke launcher. Whereas Fallout is a different world that has it's own history, people and so on.

Lets say for arguments sake Blizzard was making Fallout 3. Would people say it's Diablo with guns? Probably. That is exactly why that argument means nothing to me.

Uh, no. I was totally serious. I'm really looking forward to Fallout 3. I've never even played Oblivion.

Or maybe you quoted the wrong post?

I am now refering to this game as Identity Theft. Oblivion is trying to be fallout but it just can't. Because Identity thief's are apart of donkey shows?

pre-ordered the survival edition a while ago, me being a fallout fan since the fist one, i guess i might be nit-picky, but i'm not complaining about their change to first person, isometric in the kind of graphics we have today would be insane, the game needs to evolve and i think it's in capable hands with Bethesda.

P.S. Fat man :)

This is Isn't arguing those points. We are arguing the so far no stupid path, Probably bad dialog, You can't kill everybody and still win the game and so forth. Bethesda is basically giving us a fanservice and a Terrible one thats trying to imitate and falling so flat on its ass a level could be place perfectly on it.
