It's ok I'm sure lobbing mini nukes at communist Chinese commandoes in Alaska won't be as awesome as it sounds.Bowstring said:http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/56087FireFly90 said:I read somewhere that theres going to be DLC expansions coming out for 360 users but said nothing about PS3. Yup, the DLC will be available for Xbox 360 and PC.
Looks like Microsoft snapped up the exclusive rights, leaving PS3 owners in the dust.
Yeah the cap is 20. You don't have to stop playing, but in this game the only real reward for anything is leveling so there wasn't anything to gain out of exploring, which is why I decided to up the cap and carry on with my exploring.needausername said:I pretty much do that anyway... and is the cap 20, or can you keep going up through grinding?Nivag said:Oh, like, yeah I completed the game a while back after I got to level 20. Now I've changed the level cap and kept on exploring. I don't wear power armor because when you get to a small gun skill of 100, armour really makes no difference as nothing ever reaches you. I just wear stuff that looks cool But I don't really play anymore what with Left 4 Dead and Red Alert 3.needausername said:Nice, you got stuff in your house yet? Also, you know how to use power armorNivag said:I did a hell of a lot of exploring and rarely came back without a full inventory. I haven't played for a while but I definitely have over 40k.needausername said:I have a constant of 1000 caps, if I buy something expensive I replenish them quickly, but stop once I get to about 1000Nivag said:Ah. I only killed TP. I don't intend to murder anyone who I can trade with Though tbh I'm loaded now.needausername said:I dunno, I go near and get shot at. I did admittedly kill all shop keepers, named NPCs and Tenpenny, and walk about in his robe when I go near there.Nivag said:That's weird... I killed him, nicked his stuff and threw his corpse over the ledge but the residents & guards all love me and haven't even noticed he's gone... And this was BEFORE I decided to kill all the ghouls because their leader was being a total ass.needausername said:After killing Tenpenny, most of the guards and all the shop keepers, they aren't to happy with me.
There are five. The other two are at the end of the railway out of Evergreen Mills (It spawns when you enter a particular overturned railway carriage, look for a wire cage with a teddy bear in), and at Takoma Industrial.Richard Groovy Pants said:There's only 3 behemoths on the game that I'm aware off, the one you fight in front of GNR, the one in the Capitol building and the one in Evergreen Mills. I'm not sure if you could do this but last night I had an idea, I wonder if you drop one of those mini nukes you use as the Fat Man ammo on the ground and then shoot it, will it explode?
Yeah. It's got a bit of a herd of ordinary muties with it as well.Richard Groovy Pants said:Oh right I forgot the one at Takoma, that's the one you take off with the artillery strike right? (You heard me children.)
No, leveling wasn't the point in Oblivion, but you actually got something out of doing quests rather than a handful of caps. Oblivion was more fun to explore because some of the views are actually beautiful. In Fallout 3 there's a couple of cool places and a couple of cool views, but at the end of the day it's just rubble and debris. I didn't miss the "point" in Fallout 3 because the "point" is basically the main quest line. I have visited every vault and done side-quests like the Oasis. I can't say I've done them all but you're basically flaming me because I found a way to keep myself interested.Richard Groovy Pants said:Wow, you're the first person to say something like that. This isn't a mmorpg, leveling isn't the 'reward' it's exploring. Be honest have you found every location yet? Have you done every side quest after finishing the main quest? I'm pretty sure you haven't because you missed the point of Fallout 3 and the TES series, was Oblivion 'reward' the leveling system?Nivag said:Yeah the cap is 20. I couldn't care less about my level, heck I can blast trough the main quest on level 3. Now finding out the Alien Spaceship, the Dunwhich building, every vault, every little interesting place like the Oasis is what rewards in this game. The reward is to actually see those places for yourself, what's the reward of traveling to a country in real life? What's the reward of tourism? To see the Eiffel Tower, the Crystal Palace, the Statue of Liberty for yourself right?
Probably one of the most awesome moments in gaming was when I decided to explore the Capitol building only then to find out the Talon Company fighting the Super Mutants for it, then as I go inside there it is, a Super Mutant Behemoth fighting more Talon Company mercenaries as I try to hide in the middle of corpses flying and explosions, after that massive clash I struggle to get outside only to see 2-3 Enclave Vertibirds descending from the sky, now the Enclave joins the fight. I grab my Fat Man and start dumping nukes on everything that moves as Dogmeat barks against the Enclave soldiers, after several fiery explosions it all stops.
I stand victorious, and as I look around I only see corpses, death still prevails in this dystopian future.
That was pure awesome.
I actually agree with you. Just not this game. Most of it looks the same. I'd happily trade any posession for NEW places to explore. Things like the Oasis. That was the only place in the game that caught my eye. Everything else is dull and I wouldn't trade something cool for another dust-covered city just because it had a small back-story. Ok some of them are kind of cool but this game isn't good or popular enough (amongst my mates) to care about having text-book knowlege about everything.Richard Groovy Pants said:See? You are missing the point of Fallout 3. And if you say the same about Oblivion then you are missing the point of Oblivion as well, I think everyone here can agree that Fallout 3 and Oblivion main quests are the WEAKEST part of the game, this game is about exploration, not the main quest, fuck the storyline for all I care.Nivag said:No, leveling wasn't the point in Oblivion, but you actually got something out of doing quests rather than a handful of caps. A lot of people I know haven't even finished the main quest in Morrowind and Oblivion including myself for that matter because they simply couldn't be arsed, they had tons of interesting side quests and mods to keep them entertained.
I'm not 'flaming' you, I'm calling you out on something,I have visited every vault and done side-quests like the Oasis (awesome btw). I can't say I've done them all but you're basically flaming me because I found a way to keep myself interested.
let me try to explain this in a less stupid way I'm trying to debate something to reach a consensus on it, to attain a certain untouched truth on it, in ancient Greece this was called a discussion, which I think fits a gaming discussion forum (another Greek word by the way), I understand that people don't like to be called out on stuff but you can't ignore something forever.
Oh I get it, you're the instant gratification kind of gamer, well that's not something bad, but what about the visuals? You can say that you explored the Dunwich building and now you know what happened there, a player that didn't cant. You've gained knowledge about it, the player which didn't cant. See where I'm trying to get at? Someone that went to Paris and saw the Eiffel Tower can describe it with a lot more detail than someone who happened to catch a glimpse of it on the TV.Out of all the exploring I've done in Fallout 3, all I have to show for it is a cool rifle and some armour that talks to me, which I don't even wear. In Oblivion there were unique things to find everywhere and it felt like an accomplishment. It gives you the feeling that you actually stand somewhere within that story. Things like killing a tree for some people I'll never even see again, killing a couple of people who think they're insects and robots and helping slaves migrate to a statue I couldn't care less about don't really seem that great.
I'd happily trade my Tesla Armor in Fallout 3 and all the 20 bobbleheads I've gathered from my adventures for new places to explore with new stories to unfold, worldy possessions are over rated anyways.
