I'm pretty sure George Orwell in 1984 - although I haven't read the book so I can't quote directly - depicted Big Brother using passive inducing drugs as well as mind control techniques to ensure a docile population. Incidently 1984 is also a book on HOW NOT TO RUN THE WORLD!
Also a TV series Blake's7 depicted the use of atmospheric and viral passification, basically turning everyone that wasn't part of the regime into 'cattle'.
Yes, obviously forcing drugs on the people isn't a good thing to do. But a leader would only do that if he had aspirations of consolidating his power. The idea is that our leader, rather than being 'benevolent', is just 'too lazy and unassuming' to do any of that.
I understand that what your implying is that the dictatorship is a nice and peaceful one and would only do it to the 'bad guys' but stop and think. Some of the horrible things happening in the world right now are because people are trying to dictate their nice and peaceful views upon others are when they are horrible they claim they are only doing it to the bad guys!
Yes that's a common criticism of dictator states, and an oft-proposed solution to that problem is if the dictator is 'benevolent' and only remains in power because he puts the people first and they love and support him. But just as you said, the most saintly dictator is still corruptible in that he can force his will on the people even when they disagree with him. The whole purpose of my OP is that if our dictator had no aspirations of power, he wouldn't be corruptible. Hence the druggo.
The other question you need to ask is what happens if someone who isn't your benevilant junkie overthrows said junkie and takes over?
Nobody will support someone trying to overthrow a dictator who isn't oppressive. The people are already free to do anything they want. The idea is: anyone who has a problem with the freedom of other people is doped until they shut the hell up. lol

I should think farmers and manual labourers would do the farming and manual labour... Just a guess.
No they wouldn't they were stoned out of their heads. You need people to think clearly when they do their jobs. Sure they don't need to take drugs. But they would to just "unwind" and they become addicted. and once addicted you can expect the same amount of output from them. And the if you can't expect the same amount of output a dictatorship can't run well as there are little to no resources that can be used
They can take drugs if they want to, but if it affects their performance at work then they either stop taking them or they lose their job.
It's really very simple...

DRUGS BAD, DRUGS VERY BAD. DRUGS MAKE YOU STUPID. DRUGS DO NOT SOLVE STUFF, THEY MAKE STUFF WORSE.
I agree with you. Don't take drugs and I'm sure you'll succeed in life much more than the potheads and the alcoholics. I'm being 100% sincere.
The fundamental idea I'm trying to preach here is not 'take drugs' it's 'fuckin chill out'.
GOd almighty you contradict yourself so much. your theory wasn't "chill the fuck out" it was "Chill the fuck out, or take drugs until you have". Drugs are bad. But the way you originaly put it, drugs are the ultimate problem solver.
no they arn't.
Keywords to look out for: "The
fundamental idea".
