Okay I'll bite, cause it clearly still hasn't been stated why this decision was made... and lets not play around you probably have no intention of telling us anything of the sort.

Who stands to benefit from this decision? Spoony or CA?
Well, again as just a big fan of TGWTG, I have no idea.

But....CA, in a sense. If someone is acting out of line, that person can give the site a bad image. No one wants to have someone in their "employ" that will be a PR nightmare. Spoony was doing just that.

Ew... that kinda thinking right there I don't like. I like watching CA cause it's kinda like Punk Rock or Indie.... saying they'd get rid of Spony for PR makes them sound like.... well that's sell out talk.

Well that sucks, I was just watching the spoony rifftrax video for After Last Season (which you people need to see, it's freaking hilarious).

There needs to be more explanation on why a veteran contributer was kicked off. It must have been big.

Edit: So it seems Spoony made a "joke" to JesusOtaku, saying he wanted to tie her up in a basement and rape her. She took it about as well as you might expect but it was otherwise swept up under the rug.

Come a few months later and Allison (lupa) bought back up the old tweet as a way to attack him (apparently she doesn't like the guy, go figure). He went apeshit bananas over this and mauled anyone who tried to contact him over twitter (Spoony apparenly suffers from heavy depression so some of this can probably be understood). Then it seems half of the entire TGWTG cast gave their 2cents worth and kept harassing him over the rape tweet.
Things blew up pretty big to the point where the P.R team had to step in and take charge.

Can't say I've seen his videos lately but I always liked the ones I did see back in the day. Guess things have changed a lot since then.

Good luck to you Spoony, with whatever you do now.

For anyone wondering this is the tweet that started the entire thing:

If anyone wants to see LordKaT do a Spoony rant here you go: http://www.twitch.tv/lordkat/b/322255491 (Spoony stuff starts at around 36mins)
Nope, the rape joke had nothing to do with it.

The reason he was suspended for 4 weeks was because he raged at someone on twitter who told him to "Snap out of it" obviously Spoony went nuts on guy. Spoony seemed cool about it at first and said he agreed with the decision, but hours later he had a mental breakdown and went absolutely insane on his twitter. Basically raging and blocking anyone who dared to talk some sense into him. This resulted in him being fired.

I think it was a wise decision, Spoony was a complete jerk to his fanbase for almost nothing. Hopefully one day he'll stop using twitter as a way to vent his personal frustration and go get some professional help.

And for the love of God stop whining about Scarlet. It was over a year ago, move on with your life.

As someone who's been following Spoony on Twitter for years now, I sort of feel he's really derailed in recent months, in between long series of Tweets of self-pity, saying he can't trust anyone, making off colour comments (or being downright rude) and/or saying he'll be staying off Twitter for a while (only to in the end not do so at all), I can't really blame the TGWTG administration for kicking him at all. In this age of modern media, the things you put on Twitter can affect your reputation along with those you associate with.

And Spoony has become pretty pathetic as of late thus, yeah, I can sorta see why they ditched him. I hope Spoony will see this as a clear sign he needs to get some professional help. He easily was one of my favourite TGWTG contributors back in 2009, but nowadays... eh. Poor guy has sunk quite a bit.

As to LordKat, he's just a sad little man who managed to ride other people's coattails, have friends in the right places to get onto TGWTG, and then squander it all because he's too lazy to do anything truly productive, instead opting to just stream his life away and alienating his original fans while picking fights with people bigger than he is in hopes of getting people to come by his site. But that's a whole different topic.

Any questions?
No questions, just a comment. I like Spoony as a Internet personality, but lately his content has become a chore to watch. When he was poking fun at things he genuinely liked, the product was enjoyable. His series on Reb Brown was the last time I enjoyed the product. When he was going on hour long rants towards things that offended him, it was tiresome to watch.

Personally, I don't like Rage Spoony. I know that a lot of his fans like that guy, but I don't. I hope that he gets the counseling he needs and deal with the causes of his depression, whatever they may be.

I'm not speaking from a lofty perch. I have depression too and there are days that I found getting out of bed to much of a chore. When I talked to a counselor and learned productive ways to deal with my issues, my life has gotten better. When I discovered the root of my depression and was able to express it to that person, I got even better. I still have depression and it is something that may never go away, but I've got past some of the major issues in my life and I hope Spoony can too.

Reputation? They make glorified youtube videos. Youtube videos I love more than actual TV, but still. It's like seeing something so indie trying to become mainstream.

It might not be PR, maybe they just don't want to associate with him at all. I mean if he was pulling this shit in my clubhouse he wouldn't be getting let in tomorrow.

It's not true of course, the current admins ARE sell-outs, but it would be a nice thought.

Erm....no. TGWTG.com, CA, and all associated parts (like Blistered Thumbs) are a business. Like all businesses, they have an image. Anything that can damage that image, is bad. Spoony was bad for the image of the site.

I view this as very good news. Spoony is best served raw and unrestrained. That Guy With the Glasses was just a big censorship albatross chained around Noah's neck.
Don't really know what you're talking about...the only thing TGWTG censors in its videos is nudity. Most everything else is fair game. :/

Besides which, despite all this mess I think the bigger issue is Antwiler's mental state right now. If he's just blowing off steam, fair enough, but he's previously being diagnosed with depression, and really it shows. Just compare some of his more recent videos with some from a couple of years ago. He looks haggard, worn down. He's still more than capable of dishing out the rage and laughs, but...I don't know, he doesn't look healthy.

He -says- he wants to keep making vids, because it's what he enjoys doing...but I wonder if he should just take a break for a while, take a vacation, maybe see a counsellor. IT just doesn't seem right for his fans to be egging him on, like everything is hunky dory dandy, "now get back to making us videos dammmit!" etc.

It's all very sad.
Really? Damn.

I remember him saying something like that in one of his commentaries. But I never actually thought it was that bad. <:(

Well yeah but... I just don't like that idea. I like all those reviewers cause I see them rebelling against the mainstream and making their own money, being their own bosses persay.

Once a business starts using words like "What about our image?" like... ya know, it does not create endearment for me.

But thats just this mans opinion.

How would the fans know about how he was acting while on suspension?
Spoony has his own website for one, and for another, he has a Twitter.....and Twitter is where a lot of this has gone down.
Were people sending him death threats for exploiting a simple bad joke to berate a clinically depressed individual?

One. Who the hell has been blaming the awesome cynic who goes by the earthly name of Nash Bozard?
JO is Nashs' girlfriend. Spoony said something bad about JO. Do math. Find answer.
Well, yeah, but... blaming Nash for something that might have been a result about something Spoony said to JO? Where are the people blaming Phelous, since Lupa supposedly was also responsible? And, I might add, apparently taking a more active role than Hope.
Well I'm blaming him for calling Spoony a misogynist stalker, which he apparently did.
Normally I'd try and fix that.....but way too many quotes...

Anyways, I think the quote from me wasn't the one you wanted to quote, or I didn't understand your question.

As for the second one.....source? I've heard that Phelous said that, not Nash.

From what I can tell, it appears that Preggers was angry at Spoony Bard because of something he said or did at E3 at which point she started this mess and here we are.

Like someone else said, she wasn't offended by this months ago when it HAPPENED, only recently when it behooved her to be offended. Then she went to the people at the top--presumably Walker--and all hell broke lose.

TWIST ENDING: turns out people can be cuniving and use other people's trust to get their way! Also Snape is Harry's father!

I agree with you. Mainstream, indie, it's all the same. Some good, some bad. Things don't automatically go bad just because they become mainstream.

Well you see, for the Critic himself, and for some of the more popular contributors, TGWTG is a major, if not their sole source of income, it's a business for them. They use the ad revenue from their videos (first through Blip, now through Springboard) and that of the site itself to pay their bills. So if someone starts making a stink on Twitter or anywhere else in a way that could backfire on the entire bundle of TGWTG/Channel Awesome content makers, then it's in their best interest to publicly distance themselves from him for the sake of maintaining said ad revenue.

This is closely following a reaction to and a blowup around Spoony tweeting that he'd like to chain JesuOtaku to the pipes in his basement and "love" her. My girlfriend and another friend are following it, and it looks like he's breaking down here.

Kinda glad I don't follow people's personal lives normally.

He left, so false.

He also had an interesting blowup, also involving rape, on Reddit.
