Some more unoriginal Pokemon to add to the brew.

I liked most of third gen, but the love stopped there.

Considering this is the new generation, I wouldn't put it past them to possibly move away from the traditional fire/water/grass starters. I would love to see some kind of Ghost/Dark/Psychic choice or something like that. And seeing that these silhouettes aren't 100% clear on what type they are, who knows.
I think if they went with a psychic and dark type the third would have to be fighting to maintain the rock paper scissors balance they have always had with the starters. It would certainly be a nice change of pace to move away from the water/fire/grass. I'm not getting my hopes up though.

You know, I thought they had finally figured it out once they announced Zoroark, but even the silhouettes of the 3 starters look retarded... We can only hope that the other new pokemon will consist of less suck, because you can always kick your starter pokemon the fuck out of your team.

Show of hands. Who thinks this generation will kill the franchise? *raises hand*
Oh wow, heavy cynicism based on virtually nothing.

I'm seriously disappointed so many people are already forming opinions based on fake pics and silhouettes. Seriously, some of the best starters around look silly in silhouette form. Like Mudkip. Mudkip looks way weirder than anything those starters could possible be, but mudkip is still fucking mudkip.

Now, judging from the starters of past generations, the general trend is extremely cutesy looking first evolutions, that eventually come amazingly badass. This is exemplified in the piplup family. Tiny cute little penguin, eventually a brooding amalgam of steel and fowl.

Found it. Dunno if it's real or fake, but...

KILL IT WITH FIRE. D:
For the last time, people, these are FAKE.

Fake as fake can be. Just look at the borders on the pokemon. It's obvious they added those bullshit auras on them to cover up their ... shopness.

I can tell, I've seen quite a few shops in my time.

Update #2: Yes, the images below are officially a hoax [http://rodentruler.deviantart.com/art/Pokemon-BW-Starters-163413067]. I'm going to repeat, just in case some people don't get it: The ones below are not the official Pokemon Black & White starters. They're still an interesting fan take on what they could look like, though, so ... we'll leave the image up for now.

Update: The Escapist community member Hurr Durr Derp dug up what turned out to be a fan-made version of what the monsters could like in not-silhouette form:

We won't know what they'll look like for real until Nintendo chooses to unveil them, of course.

Oh thank god, because those right there would have officially killed pokemon for me...

I realize I'm a total prick for judging them on their silhouettes, but I already don't like them. :(
You're not the only one. Goddammit those things are ugly, real or not. Give me a charmander any day over any of these new-fangled pokeymans.

To summarize:

That made me laugh....a lot. I totally agree too. I've only played 1st and 2nd generation but I'm starting the 3rd here recently and I must say when I saw I had to choose between a goofy blue blob of a water pokemon, a fire chick (WTF), and a mediocre lizard I was pretty bummed.

I just recently saw the starters from the 4th gen and I became very glad I didn't own a DS....seriously, a freaking monkey for a starter...common! Give me a charmander any day as well.
disagree you just use that as an excuse to not spend your money, which is fine, but I actually did think that blaziken and swampert were awesome in the 3rd generation, and torterra in the 4th (however the other two were fucking stupid as shit in the 4th, and grovie or what ever the hell that fucking leaf gecko thing was called was retarded as well)
Eh, maybe you're right. I wouldn't really play a ds that much anyway which also has something to do with it, but money is always a consideration. I'll also agree that Swampert (I can only speak for the pictures) is pretty decent, but mudkips is pretty lame compared to say a squirtle in my opinion.

I just can't stand blaziken though....it doesn't seem like a pokemon to me with it's whole anthropomorphic bipedal thing going on. I looks like a human who morphed into a weird chicken thing wearing bellbottoms.

I do have to admit one thing on these new Pokemon though, their silhouettes look retarded. I sincerally hope that one on the lower right does not turn out to be as stupid looking as the one depicted in the artist interpretation, also I dont want a water pig type either, like that pig thing the artist drew.

I mean... Couldn't they have just gone with these [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/global/media/images/articles/article/7291/NewPokemon.png]? I like them so much more. I was so hyped about that list because they reminded me of the first gen, while still being new and creative. These new starters? Well, we have a... pigrabbit, which is... water? A fat... badger? Raccoon? For fire? As well as a... Well I don't even know what that thing it... but it's grass.

I've never had a complaint with any of the newer generations of pokemon before. I suppose there is a first time for everything though. I'm disappointed.

That list is fantastic.

Show of hand: Who thinks any pokemon games will sell millions even if Nintendo were to just remaking the same game with updated graphic?

*Raises both hands*
They've done that.

Y'know, I'm starting to wonder if the Water starter for this generation will be like Mudkip and evolve into a Water/Ground hybrid... if only so I can make a reference to Dragon Age?

"Oh, it's one of those subterranian bunny-pigs!"

No, no, no, take it away, I can't look at that again, ever. The water and grass types are a hell no, the fire type is the best but it is lacking compared to other gens...

Haha, agreed. Anything with a "curly-cue" tail deserves to be immolated alive... The middle one will be interesting too for sure. The only one which looks vaguely okay is the one on the bottom right.

Edit: Left i mean.
