I think if they went with a psychic and dark type the third would have to be fighting to maintain the rock paper scissors balance they have always had with the starters. It would certainly be a nice change of pace to move away from the water/fire/grass. I'm not getting my hopes up though.Collin Henderson said:Considering this is the new generation, I wouldn't put it past them to possibly move away from the traditional fire/water/grass starters. I would love to see some kind of Ghost/Dark/Psychic choice or something like that. And seeing that these silhouettes aren't 100% clear on what type they are, who knows.
Oh wow, heavy cynicism based on virtually nothing.Kimarous said:Show of hands. Who thinks this generation will kill the franchise? *raises hand*

Oh thank god, because those right there would have officially killed pokemon for me...John Funk said:Update #2: Yes, the images below are officially a hoax [http://rodentruler.deviantart.com/art/Pokemon-BW-Starters-163413067]. I'm going to repeat, just in case some people don't get it: The ones below are not the official Pokemon Black & White starters. They're still an interesting fan take on what they could look like, though, so ... we'll leave the image up for now.
Update: The Escapist community member Hurr Durr Derp dug up what turned out to be a fan-made version of what the monsters could like in not-silhouette form:
We won't know what they'll look like for real until Nintendo chooses to unveil them, of course.

I'll also agree that Swampert (I can only speak for the pictures) is pretty decent, but mudkips is pretty lame compared to say a squirtle in my opinion.Plazmatic said:disagree you just use that as an excuse to not spend your money, which is fine, but I actually did think that blaziken and swampert were awesome in the 3rd generation, and torterra in the 4th (however the other two were fucking stupid as shit in the 4th, and grovie or what ever the hell that fucking leaf gecko thing was called was retarded as well)Velocirapture07 said:That made me laugh....a lot. I totally agree too. I've only played 1st and 2nd generation but I'm starting the 3rd here recently and I must say when I saw I had to choose between a goofy blue blob of a water pokemon, a fire chick (WTF), and a mediocre lizard I was pretty bummed.Magnalian said:You're not the only one. To summarize:
I just recently saw the starters from the 4th gen and I became very glad I didn't own a DS....seriously, a freaking monkey for a starter...common! Give me a charmander any day as well.
I just can't stand blaziken though....it doesn't seem like a pokemon to me with it's whole anthropomorphic bipedal thing going on. I looks like a human who morphed into a weird chicken thing wearing bellbottoms.

Gxas said:I mean... Couldn't they have just gone with these [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/global/media/images/articles/article/7291/NewPokemon.png]? I like them so much more. I was so hyped about that list because they reminded me of the first gen, while still being new and creative. These new starters? Well, we have a... pigrabbit, which is... water? A fat... badger? Raccoon? For fire? As well as a... Well I don't even know what that thing it... but it's grass.
I've never had a complaint with any of the newer generations of pokemon before. I suppose there is a first time for everything though. I'm disappointed.
They've done that.sougo13 said:Show of hand: Who thinks any pokemon games will sell millions even if Nintendo were to just remaking the same game with updated graphic?Kimarous said:Show of hands. Who thinks this generation will kill the franchise? *raises hand*

Haha, agreed. Anything with a "curly-cue" tail deserves to be immolated alive... The middle one will be interesting too for sure. The only one which looks vaguely okay is the one on the bottom right.Plazmatic said:Velocirapture07 said:Eh, maybe you're right. I do have to admit one thing on these new Pokemon though, their silhouettes look retarded. I sincerally hope that one on the lower right does not turn out to be as stupid looking as the one depicted in the artist interpretation, also I dont want a water pig type either, like that pig thing the artist drew.
