I was playing TF2 and we got to talk about this. It was pretty strange, while roasting REDs by the barrel, to discuss this. We turned on all speak so everybody could join in.

And that sums up my feelings on the news. I was not, in a way, terribly surprised, but at the same time it was a bit of a shock. If that makes sense. I mean, I guess it had to happen sooner rather than later but I didn't see it coming now.

As for how I feel about his death, well, two things: personally I'm not affected one way or the other. I never was a fan and I honestly never interested myself in him, his music or his life. So for me, personally, it doesn't matter a whole lot. I mean, it's not that I don't care or are callous about it. It just has zero impact on my life. But I feel it in the sense that I always find it sad when someone dies. I imagine that it's different for the fans.

On the other hand I do feel sorry for the people close to him and I hope that they'll be all right. I'm perhaps mostly thinking about the media induced hell they'll likely end up going though.

And I might end by saying that no matter how you feel about MJ or his music it's silly to deny the impact he had on music and popular culture. Personally I don't like his music a whole lot but that says nothing about it's importance. And even I must admit that a few of his songs were pure genius. :)

Well karma does have a tendency to fuck you in the ass (Pun intended), so he got what was "cumming" to him. Sorry had to do it.

Do you know what's really sad about all this? All the negative outcry, just 'cause the guy's so centered by the media.

Yeah, people die every minute. A lot of people hated Jackson, and a lot of people are indifferent. That's fine. What really burns me is all this "good riddance" stuff.

At the end of the day, a family has lost a loved one. Never mind how fucking famous they are. They're hurting pretty badly at the moment, and yeah, just like thousands of others do when they lose loved ones, but that's not the point. He didn't deserve to die, and his family didn't deserve to lose him.

I gotta go with the dennis leary theory about how elvis should have been shot down in the 60's before he got all drugged out and fat. Michael Jackson should have gone out with that pepsi commercial accident that nearly burned him alive. Then we'd all have fond memories of him instead of all these kiddie rapist jokes that everyone likes to throw around.

This is really creepy because about 12 hours ago I was playing a cover of "Beat it"

Man, this really sucks. I admit I wasn't his biggest fan but I always turned his songs up when they were on TV or on the radio and I know how big an influence he had on the music world.

He is really walking on the moon now...

All the people saying they don't care, keep it to yourselves.
Yes, people die all the time and you can't be expected to care, and I'm not saying Micheal Jackson is special but he was still a person, and I'm gonna hate myself for saying this but show some respect. You don't have to care but y'know... fuck off. Nobody cares that you don't care.
I myself am still stunned to hell and back... MJ isn't someone who you could imagine dieing.
I have to agree with you. Seeing people that claim they don't give a fuck that he died, the rest of us don't give a damn if you feel apathetic over a cultural icon's death. Yeah, his past was kinda eh, but the man could make some damn good music. Has any album ever topped his "Thriller" album? How many artists are known WORLDWIDE? Not everyone knows or gives a damn about Christian Aguleria. She's not a "household" name. You say the initials "MJ" and 90% of the time, people would know it was Michael Jackson.

Yes, people die everyday. Sucks that everyone's death isn't announced and projected all over the world like a celebrity. But that's the different from the common person and a celebrity. If you want your death publicized, become a celebrity. Til then, STFU and give the man some respect.

Rest in peace the King of Pop.
I have to say; this might be the most level-headed post in this thread.
True that, true that...
he made damn good songs. Remember him before he had the plastic surgery, remember the good Michael Jackson.
Easy enough.

I'm actually really sad that this happened. I don't understand people who say "good riddance." I guess they're just ignorant or stupid. Jackson was one of the greatest performers of all time. There were only a few years where he went through legal problems, and for some reason that's what people decide to comment on. Why people can't respect one of the greatest modern performers I'll never understand.

Am I a horrible person for not caring at all?
No i don't care either it's just another person who died the world will go on.
I felt the same way when that one bloke from the Beetles died recently. Although for some reason Jacksons death was more affecting to me.

Because he was one of the most influential people in your/your parents lifetime? Get your head out of your ass, Mr. Holier Than Thou, just because you don't care doesn't mean no one does.

So, therefore Jackson is guilty?

Jackson is guilty because OJ got off. How did that happen?

Just because you care doesn't mean he should. See what happened there?

Damn, these celebrity-fans are getting moody today. The more you defend people you don't know, the funnier the jokes will be to people who make fun of them.

Seems like these days the whole view of "Innocent Until Proven Guilty" thing seems to have gone flying out the bloody window.

They couldn't ever prove that he did anything. Sure he probably did it, but if they can't prove it then it really couldn't have been THAT likely.

Seems like the world just really wants to believe the worst the world can throw at them.

I don't know...
I never really cared for the guy.
Kinda like him for giving us Thriller, but other than that, he reminds me sort of like Bill Clinton.
