Didn't read the entire thread, but I just want to say that I hope this boycott influences the box-art too - the hand MUST change. Who needs 2 fingers anyway?

Most of that manifesto is either a) untrue or b) negative bullshit.
If they dont like it, THEN DONT BLOODY PLAY IT.
EDIT: Do they not realise that L4D1 was just a test, that valve weren't particularly pleased with?
Screw them, i'll be enjoying the sequel while they moan.

The fact that L4D2 is nearly identical to L4D1 will decimate the community for both games
L4D2 is too colourful to fit in with L4D1's visual aesthetic
The fact that they're charging 50$ for a new game instead of just supporting the old game with new content?rockingnic said:What's wrong with a new game with extended content? New enemies? Stop complaining, no one is making you buy or play these games. Look at the bright side, it's not a Guitar Hero franchise.
That would be a legitimate argument, except the new massive update system Valve, through Steam, has perfected renders it null.WrongSprite said:Idiots. Actual idiots.

Ever heard of DLCs?Kwil said:Yes, damn them for wanting to pay their developers! How dare they ask for more money for something that's going to be bigger than the original, with a significantly improved AI director, more types of zombies, more weapons, and a completely new system of combat in the form of melee. Why, they should just provide all of that for free.13lackfriday said:That would be a legitimate argument, except the new massive update system Valve, through Steam, has perfected renders it null.
Anything they were unsatisfied with, they could just gradually phase out with new updates that would also bring in the new content of the sequel.
So basically, repackaging L4D and slapping a "2" on it is totally unnecessary.
I personally think its shitty that those of us who paid for l4d essentially paid to be beta testers. My beef is that l4d 2 is the finished product. It also comes with l4d's campaigns packaged with it, so you don't have to deal with quitting the game to play no mercy. So essentially you give it a little while and the l4d servers will disappear in favour of its successor. I feel like i've gone and payed £25 for a hl2 mod and now they want me to pay another £25 quid for a mod of said hl2 mod. I mean what happened to episode 3?Kwil said:Yes, damn them for wanting to pay their developers! EXCEPT THATS SHIT WE ALREADY HAVE IN L4D. Thats NOT new content! All you have over l4d is some new character deformation, 1 more level then l4d, and a bunch of new items. THAT IS AN EXPANSION PACK.Kwil said:Here [http://www.shacknews.com/featuredarticle.x?id=1138]:shaboinkin said:where do they say they are going to charge $50 for it? Where have then mentioned pricing?
Shack: What price-point should we expect?
Doug Lombardi: This is a full sequel.
Shack: So full price?
Doug Lombardi: Yeah. At the end of the day, this is going to be a bigger game than Left 4 Dead. It's five campaigns versus four, all five are playable in Versus mode, Survival mode out of the box, the new multiplayer game mode. Plus over 20 new weapons and items. It's a full sequel.
