Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Rome, but they [Carthage] were not Greek (which by ancient Greek standards) makes them βάρβαρους.

I thought the Classical Period was the age of the Romans.
I got all excited that we were going to talk about ancient Greece and Rome. No such luck.
Your hopes fared about as well as Corinth circa 140 BC.

That's right, that's what all you Carthaginians sound like to me! Go speak your Punic somewhere else. Sorry to hear that you got razed to the ground, though.

Also, don't post that. The Escapist tends to frown upon slurs in the forums, unless used in a particular context (like making fun of the WBC). As much as most (possibly all) of us hate Justin Bieber, call him something else like dickwad, assclown, or bastard.

Corinth was always getting into trouble.

It was all the soft Corinthian leather the Romans wanted for their chariots.

I'm one of those guys who can listen to very nearly everything (except rap and some deathcore), despite 98% of my library being heavy metal. I like it. Especially when I'm waking up/trying to calm the fuck down.

Anyway, if anyone in this thread lives in Australia, you should check out 97.7 FM. It's a radio station dedicated to classical music. Who knows, you might enjoy it. :D

I have to admit. I've always hoped that public places would make use of classical music more. I like certain genres of metal, but I find it easier to focus on what I'm doing when listening to classical music. Also, considering it probably has the smallest hatedom in the world, playing it in your convenience store will probably do much more good than harm.

I'd be interested to see what you think of this music- it's reasonably similar and a bit of a favourite of mine-

I enjoy classical music for everything ranging from calm listening during a walk to background music for explosion montages.
Care to list your favourite explosion montage music? I'm all curious now!

I never liked rock or metal like most teenage guys. Sure, I listened to it, but I never really loved it. Then I found classical music. My god, it filled me with wonder as to how I survived without it. That music is true genius, and no talentless ****** like Bieber can even begin to be on the same reality plane to compare to it.

Now, a lot of people are snooty about classical music. "If it's classical it's bound to be good. Now I'm going to go to the golf club and have a glass of port." Wrong. There's terrible classical music too. I dislike the cheery stuff, it feels empty and shallow. I prefer quietly sad and beautiful music, such as the compositions of Ludovico Einaudi.

That's Ludovico Einaudi.

Now, what's your opinion on classical music? Do you like it? Despise it? Think it's boring, and prefer your rockin' metal?

If you do like it, who's your favourite composer?
<3 that song. It was awesome. Personally, I've never been a great lover of classical music. I prefer my other genres, but that song was awesome.

I myself love Beethoven.

I'm also a sucker for opera, particularly German opera.

Der Freischutz opened my eyes to the stuff.

I find classical music to be empty and meaningless compared to music with lyrics. It removes an entire layer of the music and conveys less meaning, imo.

I grew up with classical music, so yeah, I still listen to it (and when I say classical music I mean everything from baroque to more modern stuff like orchestral John Williams and Blizzard compositions ;)). I sing some cantate/opera as a hobby. I quite like Wagner (but that's because he's one of very few composers that doesn't completely ignore the potential of a singer with a deep bass, most of them just decide "Oh, the bass... hrm... either a main villain or a siderole as someone old!")

That said, despite my liking of classical music to calm down sometimes and it being one of my passtimes, in the end I'm still a metalhead ;).
