Half the FMVs in Final Fantasy are like this. Each one is either really emotional, really epic, really intense, or any combination of those. However, since I'm playing through it at the moment, I have to give props to the Storming of Bevelle in FF X. Because, you know, crashing a wedding is serious business...

Also worthy of notable mention is the attack on the Sky Fortress Bahamut at the end of FF XII. And the Battle of Nalbina Fortress right at the start, in the introduction. Both amazingly beautiful rendered scenes, and both pretty damn intense...

The last battle in Bioshock 2. Fighting off a few waves of enemies, blast some tanks and then run, only to get blow up.

Crysis on the aircraft carrier, when all the alien squids are coming at you. It's absolutely pissing with rain, at night, with fire and muzzle flashes going off and everything's getting torn to shit.

Awesome-O.

Also, just before the (truly awful) VTOL section where you're trying to hold the position against that massive bastard.

In FF8, the battle between Balamb and Galbadia really got my blood running when you are running through the battle to get to galbadia garden and the cgi battle is happening in the background.

halo 1 trench run, halo 3 was good, but it didnt capture the 'ohshitohshit' feeling as well, mostly because you could sit motionless for like, 30 seconds and have no consequences other than no more goofing off. my fav memory of halo is this; when i was around 11, my game skills werenot yet fully developed, and my brother (16 or so at the time) liked halo legendary. we would play through the entire campaign, me barely surviving. then, we were in the trench run.i have always been the wheelman, so i hop in and he gets in the gunner. we make it with 30 or so seconds to spare when all of a sudden BOOM -spoiler-

Echo 419 gets blown to hell, crashes off screen, no matter how you try to save her.no time to grieve though, we jumped back in, and cortana told us there was ONE ship left in the hanger so we hauled ass as fast as we could to the waypoint, dodging fire and stray fuel rod shots, dropships flying overhead, turrets, and those exploding flood bastards, made the big jump and barely stayed upright, drove down to the hanger, almost there and... it was blocked off! there was a maelstrom of flood and covenant fire, and we were both low health, we got out but just as we were getting out, my brother dies, leaving me to finish it! i stop, he yells at me "Go! NOW!" i run, i take fire, i pass an elite with an energy sword, my shields drop, my health lowers to 2 bars, im eing chared by flood and... i make it. we sit back and watch the cutscene, making a break for it JUST as halo explodes! then, all is calm. we watch, and learn that 'were just getting started".

overall, my best moment out of halo, as its exactly the type of frantics i enjoy. to be honest, i also like the dual scarab fight in halo 3, but they took to long to explode, so i would have my friend take the longer, more dramatic way to the top, and then i would pretend to have to stabilize...something, and we would leave just as i heard the shrill explode noise.

The runner-up would be Sam's standoff with Doug in Chaos Theory; especially when you put your gun up and get the secret animation.
I think what added a lot to that was...

...the fact it was Doug, not just some random villain inserted into the game for the first time.

Likely this. Or any of the Krauser encounters in general.

First the knife fight. Then he makes you run through a labyrinth where he could be hiding around the next corner waiting to knife you. Or he's blasting you with his explosive bow or TMP. Then the final showdown. He's transformed, the tower is about to explode, and you have fairly limited room to maneuver. Your heart just doesn't stop pumping.
I REALLY hated Jack Krauser. That shirtless parasitic freak never seemed to die.

I was pretty young when I played Resident Evil 4(Yes, I know, a minor playing an M-rated game, the horror) and I was stuck on that labyrinth part. I had to get my cousin to finish that part of the game. I actually have a habit of getting my family members to play parts of games I don't like. Right now, my brother has played about 50% of The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, while I sit back and play something else.

Ok, I know its just a trailer, but the part of the "Hope" SWTOR trailer where the girl hurls a huge wall of force push at Darth Malgus. It was single handedly one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
