My mom once told me that my parents were looking through a book of RAF pilots and they saw Alexander and Derek, and so they named my brother and I accordingly. We live in California so why in God's green earth they would be looking at an RAF book really stumps me.

Plus, because I'm part German and my father loved dragons, they kept the Drake in there. Then my two middle names are from my grandfather on both sides of my family.

Michael Corbin Jacob Thomas Franklin Ghaleon Little

No, I'm serious. That is my full legal name. Its what happens when you are the product of a one night stand. The mother names you after who she thinks the father is, then later in life you find out who your real father is, get sent to live with him and his wife, get adopted, names added on instead of just changed.

I was born Michael Corbin Jacob Franklin. My mother's name was Shawn Paula Finn. The one she thought was the father, I don't know his name, but got Franklin from him. Then at age 9 sent to live with my real father, Thomas Ghaleon Lynn Little, after 2 years there, adopted by his wife as my mother (real mother died) and Thomas Ghaleon Little was added into the mix.

That's right people. I'm like the only white guy with a name 7 words long and not from Latin American countries.

Michael - "Who is like God?"

Corbin - "Gift from God" (not the 'Raven' version which is all you get when you look it up)

Jacob - "Holder of the heel" or "Supplanter"

Thomas - "Twin"

Franklin - "Freeman"

Ghaleon - "Calm"

Little - Do I have to enplane this one? Its just an old last name, started appearing hundreds of years ago in England and various parts of Europe, likely derived as a shortened version of "Littleman" or as an extended descriptor people had, aka, John Little / Little John type deal.

My name is Andrew. The word is derived from the old Greek 'ανήρ/άνδρος' 'aner/andros', meaning "manly" and, as consequence, "strong", "courageous", and "warrior".

Martin, which comes from Mars, who is the Roman god of war and strife. He's the roman version of Ares of the greek pantheon. So yeah, that's pretty cool.

Forced to change my name because an "offended" (jealous) member wanted it to be changed.

My name apparently translates as god is my judge mercifully. however I've been meaning to start going by my mothers maiden name because my dad is a prick, so I also answer to god is my bartender.

that's a really rough translation, but it's just so awesome that I'm going to use it anyway.

My name apparently derives from a slavic derivation of the hebrew name Jehonanan, or more commonly know as Jon, which means "God is merciful"...

And my last name means "son of Martin", and Martin is latin for devoted to Mars. kewl...

It was either Brittany or Brie...and while I hate how common my name is (there was 3 other Brittany's in my 4th grade class) I'd hate Brie more. My middle name is Marie which is my grandmother's middle name...my name's origin story isn't as exciting as my sister's.

I was called Adam because My older brother asked my parents to name me that, my middle name is shared between all male members of my family (seriously) and my last name comes from the Scottish Gowin, a highland blacksmith

Unfortunately for you, 'drake' is most commonly associated with 'male duck'! -_- (Its association with draconic creature-types is more recent and originally, what with yourself being part German, in central European folklore it was the name for a type of fairy that, upon flying, would resemble a fireball with a trail, pretty interesting that...)

For 'draconic' names, my preference leans towards 'Draco' (Latin), 'Drāko' (Greek derivation of 'drakon') and 龍 (pronounced in the Yue manner).

Curse the idiot who gave Kowloon its English name... *hrk*

I am named Nicole after (totally not joking), the Renault-Freakin'-Cleo adverts. And no one will ever let me forget it. I have gone through my life with:
"Nicole?" "Papa!"

well my name (Gary) originates from the Germanic "gar" (spear) and means "Spear Bearer" which is quite apt being a bloke.

unless you mean why have I do I have it...

My mum wanted 1st born son (me) to share the initial of my dad (Graham) and my sister shares my mum's initial. Since my mum passed away when we were kids my sister has carried on tradition (well it will be a tradition in a couple of generations :D) so my niece and nephew share their parents initial too. I will also do the same if I have kids at some point. my younger brother was named after my mum's dad who died when she was a kid because he looks just like him.

although it is a bit annoying sometimes when the post arrives!! :D
