Never. Why are people so quick to forgive the 360's failure rate? are we really just going to cross our fingers and hope they don't screw us again? They did already with no remorse, they will do it again.
The failure rates were caused by a rushed launch. Specifically, stuff wasn't getting properly cooled. And Microsoft paid for it in the form of returns. Oh, they paid a lot. Even if we're just going by good business, it would save them a whole lotta money not to repeat the same mistake over. Not to mention all the bad press they got out of it.

Even further, they're making the Xbox One able to last for at least 10 years [http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-why-xbox-one-is-cool-and-quiet] now. So yeah, we're pretty covered now on this.

Was always in the Playstation camp and even still I see no reason to change that. Although I do have to applaud Microsoft for their marketing genius, have a bunch of retard features at first initial launch, then retract them and dominate the news for weeks on end, about all the glorious changes.

Frankly, if two guys were trying to invite me to their parties, I'd go with the one who didn't greet me with a kick to the balls.

probably, I don't really care much about the whole "showed us their true colours" crap, Hell the only reason i got a 360 before a PS3 was because of the exclusives, which is the same reason here.

I'm so fucking tired of this "they showed their true colors" crap. They added the features they did because they were trying to build the Xbox into something more than a gaming system. They thought people would like and appreciate the new features while still giving the publishers and developers a cut of profits they were missing out on. They were trying to make everyone happy and it backfired.

It wasn't a calculated attempt to undermine the consumer. It was a way to help everyone be happy.

The very fact they took consumer feedback and acted on it, essentially killing everything they wanted the Xbox One to be, should be applauded and rewarded. Microsoft showed they are indeed a company that cares about their consumers and what we think which is far more than most companies now are doing.

So stop with this entitled self righteous crap and admit that you don't want to buy an Xbox because you want a PS4 more, not because Microsoft is some evil Umbrella clone and Sony is not.

This is actually funny because it's a misleading information. Something bad with a huge coat of bullshit until it sounds nice.

Well, the problem is that it's 10 years of constant work, without turning on or off. That means that the actual lifespan for the wast majority is much less than 10 years. The element that takes away the most of the consoles lifespan is the turning on/off of it. The huge heat fluctuation is one of the major causes why electronic devices break.
If the console is constantly on, the heat fluctuation is minimal.
If you plan to turn it on/off only 2 times per day, it's alrady worse than if it was running the whole day.

Also, a 10 year lifespan is shirt anyways. My NES, SNES, N64, GC, GB, GBC, GBA and PS1 are still running fine (the GC and PS1 have some problems because of dust 'n' lasers 'n' shit, but still running).

They are basically saying "this shit will break less than the 360, but isn't even close to being quality stuff".

First of all, gaming is a business for them and the publisher. So I don't care even a tiny bit about their happiness. They are happy if they get my money for nothing, I am happy if I get the game for nothing. Our happiness is mutually exclusive. Sooo... lets just say that I pick my happiness over their happiness.

If MS is going make the publisher (the rich guys who are already making far more money than they deserve) happy by taking away my happiness and my rights... well, fuck them.

And no, they didn't try to make everyone happy. They tried to make their pockets as full as possible while spining this shit until it sounds good.

Second, the very fact that it took a huge backslash of the fans for MS to realize how badly they fucked up the One just shows how out of touch with reality they actually are. They aren't "killing" those "features" because they understand the feedback they got. No, they "kill" those "feature" because they realized they will earn a lot less if they don't do.

They didn't do a 180 because they realized they are wrong, they did it because it brings more money for now. They don't understand why and what is wrong with the Xbone, which means they will repeat it the next moment they get a chance to get away with it.

There is a gigantic difference between correcting a mistake because you know it's a mistake and correcting it because someone told you so.

And I know full well that they didn't backtrack happily, but through gritted teeth.
You're going to fault Microsoft for completely trashing their entire roadmap for the new console generation and essentially wasting all that money on development when they could've just released a new upgraded version of the console they already had and gotten the same effect because they did all that with "gritted teeth?"

I'm sorry but that's just completely asinine. If you want to hate Microsoft, hate them for charging $60 dollars to get basic services for games, or for bombarding you with advertisements after said $60 dollars has been paid. Or hell, even for released the garbage that is the Surface. But it's completely stupid to fault them for not saying "thank you for fucking us, consumer base." They backtracked on the things people didn't like at great cost to them. What more do you want?

No, but I don't plan on buying a PS4 or a WII-U either. I was relatively excited for the 360 when it came out, and played the hell out of it. I got one in 07, and it RROD'd in 2010 after I was about 10 hours into Skyrim. It was annoying, but then I went back to playing games primarily on PC because I really didn't feel like dropping a few hundred dollars on a new console. Once I went back to playing on PC, I realized I had the best control scheme for FPS and RTS games, and if I was playing a third person game or a side-scroller, I had a PC-ready controller at hand. And Skyrim plays a hell of a lot better on PC, plus mods. I'm not a PC elitist, I loved my NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Playstation, PS2, 360, and they have games I still go back to. But really, I decided I'd rather just invest money in my computer than buy a new console. Most console games at this point get a PC conversion anyway, and in general they allow far more customization. If the $500 piece of console equipment hadn't crashed, I might feel differently, but at least when I have a hardware issue with my computer I can get in there and fix it.

I also realized that Doom 2 is still the best game ever made, and on PC I can play it with sourceports and a staggering amount of user made .wads.

No. I still don't really trust the system. The idea of controlling everything the player does seems too enticing for them to pass up just like that. I just get a funny feeling that, half way through the console's life cycle, when everyone who is going to buy one has one, they'll do yet another 180 and you'll all be stuck with games that only work online. [sub][sub][sub]Yeah, I know I'm being overly paranoid, but it hasn't failed me yet.[/sub][/sub][/sub]

...besides, I enjoyed my PS3 more, so I'm getting a PS4 instead. It'll look nice beside my Wii U, even if it is weird looking.

Nope. Not enough exclusives to justify it over the PS4 and it still won't look as pretty as my year old desktop. If I actually had the money to buy one, I'd go spend it on Lego.

Absolutely not. I don't care if they get rid of all problems they had on release, it's abundantly clear what Microsoft WANTS to do given half the chance. The only thing they'll understand is if their sales take a massive dip. If that happens, it'll serve as a warning to other companies thinking of trying something similar.

That, and I don't trust them. They might try re-introducing the problems later once everyone's already got one. Or they might just make quiet deals with unscrupulous developers so that all the other games "just so happen" to have always-online requirements.

Even with all of the 180's I will have to say no. Let's face it, they heavily tipped their hand at what their long term goals were, were prepared to screw over their player base, and completely failed to understand why these things would be an issue.
Pretty much this - I'm amazed that people are willing to forgive and forget so easily.

It's like Microsoft is a friend who takes you out one day for a drive around some lovely scenic cliffs, before happily suggesting driving off one of them. You scream and plead with them to not do it and it takes a while but eventually they see how you actually DON'T like their great idea. So they drive you home, still perplexed as to why you didn't want to die - then when you get home, they ask "So I'll see you tomorrow?"

In my mind, everyone planning to get an Xbone is the guy saying "Yeah sure, see you then!" -.-

Maybe... but only beacuse I never really wanted a console. But that might change.

One thing though, I feel that if you say you don't want to buy the console even though they changed everything you didn't like with you will be sending a very bad message. You know how they are, they will justify things with

"Last time we changed everything they still wouldn't buy it. So why bother?"

probably..

Computer says NO.

I'm seriously uninterested in what the XBONE has to offer. But then again, I'm teetering on the fence about the PS4, too. Both consoles just seem like a load of unnecessary expense when a PC can do all of that, and more.

No. Microsoft sucks. I don't even like using Windows. All they do is copy other companies with shitty inferior knock offs and call it a day. Just look at their products like the Zune, their tablets and Windows 8, GFWL, and Microsoft adding a few 360 launch titles to xbox gold years after Sony started offering free, great games. They simply do not know how to make things their customers want. I'd consider buying a Wii U in the future for a few select titles but the xb1 doesn't even have that. I'm not crazy about Halo and Gears of and I doubt the current exclusives will even stay exclusive. I also despise their xbox gold practices, I would have no reason to get it if wasn't for the fact that hold back content that should be free. I don't even play online but I would have subscribed to ps+ anyway for the perks. There's also their targeted add bullshit.

And that's ignoring the fact that they tried to throw the gaming community under a bus then gloat about it. They have nothing I want have given me every reason I need to not want to support them

Edit: I should give credit where credit is due. I will admit that all the 180's show Microsoft might actually be learning but I'll need to see a few more years of this trend before I'm willing to invest money in them

Nope. Not buyin a PS4 either. But I am excited for the next gen consoles to get a console.
I'm looking to get a PS3, prolly one of the new slim ones, since with the release of the new consoles those might get a price cut soon, so I can get it relatively cheap. I'm going with the 3 because of the lack of backwards compatibility in the 4, but I'm really interested in quite a few of the exclusives (killzone, god of war, uncharted, infamous, last of us, etc).

While the Xbox One does look somewhat more appealing now than it did initially, I'm still not about to pay that much for it. Might get it once the next-next gen hits. Depends on which get the better exclusives in the long run, the Xbox One or PS4...

Yep. Xbox One seems like the superior console on all the things which matter. I'm not going to buy it at launch (because PC) but after the "mandatory" price drop after a year or so I'll probably pick it up.

First I will wait to see what happens when it comes out so I can get a full review on it, then it depends how many GOOD games they release that don't require the damn Kinnect.

I really don't want to support any sort of DRM or any other stupid policy.

I've never been all that interest in the Microsoft consoles, albiet a few exclusives, and unless they make some title that I cannot go without (I'm looking at you, Rareware, or what's left of it), it's likely that I'll skip purchasing the XO.
