Yes, a young mother, due to whatever reason, murdered her own baby.
My point is that no matter what's the exact nature of this reason, it's a tragic one, and to reduce that to a simple "she's evil" is... well, I can't find a word for that.
That woman needs care and compassion, and her lawyer is probably just trying to save her already ruined life from being spent in jail.
She has to live with the thought that she killed her own baby, for God's sake! How stupid can you be to ask for a greater punishment?
And to mix your everyday "facebook players are idiots" with such matters is, well, I'm going to say inhuman.
There's a whole lot of murderers, rapists and paedophiles rotting away in prison. Shall we all send them e-mails of support for the terriple plight that they find themselves in?

You said it yourself, she killed her own baby.
She killed her own baby.
Most of us consider that worse than killing someone else's baby, its so incredibly twisted.
The reaction might have been different if she'd claimed insanity, it wouldn't be the first time inbalanced chemicals/hormones and extreme levels of stress caused a mother to do something she regrets. But no... Its the videogame.

I'm sure there are plenty of murderers out there that feel guilty for what they've done. They don't get a free pass or any sympathy because of it.
I agree with this guy. Plus a lot of these people only seem to express guilt AFTER they've been locked up. They can go on with their lives normally until their arrested, then pull the sympathetic misunderstood act.

I believe it, I got angry while with my brother while I was playing Team Fortress and set him on fire. It's obviously Team Fortress' fault.
No no no, you were just spychecking and you found a spy disguised as your brother. Clearly he wouldn't have burned if he was on your team.

I'm notthe most religious person there is, but in my humble opinion the good 'ole "An Eye for an eye" is quite appropriate in situations like this.

If a woman does this then who in their right mind would want to have a child with them, She was probably annoyed with them anyway as she was trying to grow her own vegeatables.

Not a damn one of you understands psychology...Properly anyway.
What we have here is poor impulse control mixed with emotional imbalance. The idea that someone would do something like this is disturbing to anyone of sound mind. But there's the key word, SOUND. This woman is very obviously disturbed, and most likely has some form of mental disorder. While I know it can be hard to control ones emotions, especially in a case such as this, where there are some very tragic circumstances to deal with. But, I believe that no one has the right to condemn his fellow man, and that we must look for solutions rather than catharsis.
Many of you would be the first to suggest we burn this woman, but if given the opportunity to to in real life, you would differ.
Also:
As comfortable you feel with the black and white, Saturday morning cartoon, "that's what they all say" fantasy that you've created for yourselves. But let's try to be mature, and not talk about clearly ill human beings like they're just inhuman hell spawn without families to consider. We, the mentally sound, must take the moral high ground.
It is the ONLY responsible choice.

She told investigators that she became angry with the infant because he was crying while she was playing FarmVille on Facebook; she claimed she shook the baby, had a cigarette and then shook him again, adding that he may have hit his head while she was shaking him.
I don't see how she blamed FarmVille for her crime. It seems like she merely said that she shook her baby because he happened to cry while she was playing FarmVille.

Where does she blame Farmville? Maybe it's in the court documents, but this actually just reads like a statement of fact, not like a "I killed my baby because Farmville made me," kind of thing.

"I got angry because my baby was crying while I was doing something," was all she said, at least from this article.

This seems like a sensationalized title to me. It's just a very bad mother explaining her horrible actions, which is something a judge would likely require at her hearing before he sentences her. Unless, like I said, there is something missing from this story, it doesn't seem like she's pleading the Farmville Defense.

So, she's obviously mentally unstable, and committed a terrible crime, one which I hope she regrets, and one which she can never put right - the end result is that two lives have been utterly wasted, which could never be worth celebrating.

But this article manages to be repulsive in its own way. Advocating murder, Escapist? Really? Classy.

Aha! Ninja'd, but at least I'm not the only one who thought this.

I haven't read the entire thread so apologies if someone already mentioned this but it doesn't sound from the OP as if she's actually BLAMING the game for her actions, she's just explaining the situation. She was trying to do something, she got angry, killed the baby, pleaded guilty.

Where in the OP does she actually BLAME THE GAME for her actions? Because I don't see it. There's a difference between justifying your position and explaining the situation guys.

EDIT; Ah ok, yeah, I'm not the only one who noticed that then.

Okay, I get what she did was terrible. But that's a little sadistic isn't it?
No.

This one time I was playing Katamari Damancy and because I couldn't get all the roses.

However, I went to a large field of flowers and cut them all down with a chainsaw

And afterward?

I made them into a really big ball and tired to give it to my god, Glenn Beck, but that G-D M-F A-hole was too busy blaming Obama for testicular cancer.

Thus I climbed up to the stop of the Statue of Liberty and screwed some barely legal chick without a green card and tossed the flowers off the Touch of Liberty.

It went down and down and hit a family of five, killing them all, but that is fine because Mortal Kombat made me do it.
