Please say that this isn't a complement to that game. I'm about an hour from beating it, but when I eventually do, it's going up as one of the worst games i've beaten.
Asides that... Dead Island is up there. Fable 2&3, Assassin's Creed 3, RE 6 & ORC. Oh, yeah. Shadow the Hedgehog. There's more but eh.
I played this on the PC and between the horrible controls, a map that was way too big, unsympathetic characters and boring story I managed to somehow slog through this game; expecting it to get better. The only part I really did enjoy was when you meet Ken Rosenberg and Kent Paul again.
First of all calm down. Second I never said that G/S/C werent sequels to R/B/Y. I said it was a stand alone sequel because no one directly talks about the previous 3 years until after the game is beaten. It doesn't even give any indication that Kanto and Johto are even connected until then. Black and White 2 are in fact, the first direct sequels in the main pokemon series taking place in the same region 2 years after the events of the original Black and White.
Events from 2 years ago are talked about during the main story? *check*
Team Plasma in now divided into to factions (one run by Ghetsis still trying to conquer the world and the other trying to do what they thought they were doing in the first place)*check*
Iris (who may or may not have been a gym leader depending on the version) Become the new champion after the previous one left*check*
5 gym leaders retire (Chili, Cilan,Cress, Lenora, and Brycen) and get replaced by new comers?( Roxie, Marlon, and the previous M.C.s friend Cheren replacing them? *check*
Finding pokemon that weren't previously native to the region? *check* All of the old gyms have new puzzles and an entire city is redone with at least 2 or more routes being edited?*check*
An earthquake cutting off the route to the Elite four forcing them to relocate? not a rehash but *check*
Being able to fight both Blue and Red as well as most of the other champions and gym leaders at the PWT? *check*
Being able to travel to the first protagonists hometown? *check*
Being able to fight the previous protagonist(Hilbert/Hilda)? Nope. The game states that he's traveling with the Reshiram/Zekrom you caught in B&W
And here are a bunch of other smaller things I don't care to mention.

B&W 2 are sequels for the many of the same reason G/S/C are.
How quickly did you finish that game anyway? did you not read any of the text? were you unable to/ decided not to use the memory link?

I advise that you go through the game again and actually pay attention this time.
I didn't enjoy Gen 5 and I don't ever want to play through those titles ever again.
Regardless, I don't believe that these titles are broken or incapable of being enjoyed by others. I've played a Pokemon handheld sequel, and a damn good one at that, and I don't get the same notion from the 5th Gen "sequels." Despite the time skip and new features (besides those taken from the previous 4 Gens like Gym Leaders and Pokemon), I don't consider them sequels.
Well it sucks to hear that you didn't enjoy Gen 5 (my favorite along with Gen 2). But they are still the first direct sequel and a continuation of the events that transpired in the first half of the generation regardless of what you feel. I'll never understand how you consider Gen 2 as a sequel but not see B&W 2 as being the same ( is it just because their in the same generation? they can't add that much and still have the games be fully compatable) as well as being the standard third installment.I don't and never will see it as a reboot in anyway, shape or form, but you may as well be the "bigger man" of the conversation and forget this argument ever happened. It is a sequel regardless of how you think a sequel has to be.
"Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" on Wii. Not the worst game made, but I rate it slightly below decent. I can list many games that I have played that I consider worse, but I tend not to finish those.
Mass Effect 3, loved everything about it til the ending,it just made me feel very awful and the cold realization that i wasted so much time, for you see,i did 6 play throughs with ME2 and was totally prepared to take all 6 of my characters all the way though ME3 but after that ending it made it all pointless to me and kinda broke my heart because i had crazy love for ME.
Dragon Age 2 almost felt the same way because the ending to that one made it clear that your choices had no meaning, even if you played as a hardcore mage hater the mage's at the end would still love you. Had a blast with it but those finally moments soured the thoughts of another complete play through for me.
They are others but for now those 2 really stick out because i was really into them, read the books, watched the movies and so on.
Sonic 2006
Aquaman: Battle for Atlantis
Dokapon Kingdom
To be fair, while I had fun with Dokapon, it's probably the most frustrating fucking thing I've ever played. 2006 is just an example of how to ruin Sonic to the point where it's near impossible to return. And Aquaman is... just absolute shit.
Also: Pokemon White.
Gen V is absolute garbage. Many argue against me. But they took a lot out and it feels like it's padded with cutscenes while the game holds your hand the entire way though. It pales in comparison to Generation IV and it makes me less interested in wanting to get Generation VI. That said, I'll give Gen VI a chance. But if it fails to bring back the spark and reasons I loved Pokemon that existed all the way up to Generation IV, then I'll be done with Pokemon.
It was like a meal at an expensive French restaurant; it looked nice, but it was over far too quickly, and wasn't worth the money. I was expecting more when I got to what I learned was the end, but after the final cutscene I actually said to myself, "Is that it?"
Three disks, and it was over in six hours. And that was on Hard. It didn't even show me what the main villain looked like. Instead I was left deeply disappointed.
Borderlands. I literally can't think of a more repetitive, boring, brown, uninteresting game that I've finished.
Edit: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on the Wii. I bought it for the same reason as Yathzee did, I thought the combat would be better on the Wii. How wrong I was.
Final Fantasy: Mystic Friggin' Quest. I've actually played through it twice, just because years after the fact I thought, "You know, it couldn't have actually been as awful as I remember." It was, and is.
My contribution to this list would probably be Fable 3. I went into playing Fable 3 expecting a loyal sequel to Fable 2. In one DLC expansion to Fable 2, the blind prophet Theresa told you of your destiny to be King of Albion. After this, you were given a new outfit and arsenal to wear to reflect your kinglyhood. Little did I know this was an easter egg and a hint toward the next game in the series. This next game would certainly be as compelling and rewarding as the last, right? Not so much.
Yo, there's gonna be spoilers in here. I don't know how to spoiler-tag. The game's been out long enough, right? Hell, you can get it for free on XBL. Go get it for free on XBL if you're scared of spoilers.
Fable 3 boasted a thrilling tale of rebelling against a tyrant, only to find out that he had "good" reasons to oppress his nation, and that you now have to shoulder the last king's burden on your own. In this conflict, there was a great potential for compelling narrative that really makes the player think about what he has to do, and what would be best for the nation's people. However, this conflict was overshadowed by the game's iconic "GOOD vs EVIL" spectrum it dangled in front of your face the whole time. After becoming King, you had two choices in a number of different social situations. Either succumb to corruption in order to raise money to save your people from imminent doom... Or make the lake filled with natural resources pretty so people can go on picnics instead Not once did the game give you the option to inform the masses on the encroaching darkness. Rather, you had to either keep them in the dark while you exploited them for money to save them, or keep them in the dark while you made them happy and left them to die. You would then be rewarded with devil wings for the first, or angel wings for the second option. Good spoils, I'd say. A static extreme which told you what you did was either wrong or right.
There was just such direction for a real moral reflection, but the whole experience was thrown away for a GOOD vs EVIL slider.
Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. I remember the game had terrible controls, terrible puzzles and was really frustrating. It's one of the very few times I've longed for a game to be over.
I was much more determined to get my money's worth of playtime back then.
I really hated Oblivion for some reason. I loved Morrowind (was part of the modding community for a while) and really enjoyed Skyrim. I think it was the setting. Cyrodil just didn't work for me. Keep in mind this is only my opinion. I know a bunch of people loved Oblivion, but when I played it I just ended with a bad taste in my mouth. I didn't find any character to be lovable. I hated that Beth spent money on a well known voice actor instead of something more important. Your character was just didn't end up feeling like something as special as the Neverine or Dragonborn despite going in and out of Oblivion. Everything just felt the same. The worst part though was everything you could steal was a replica! That burned me for some reason. To top it all off I bought the Mage's Tower DLC and felt like an idiot.
Fallout 3 had all the same problems for me, but I never beat it so I won't rant on it. Anyway, opinions and all that. Don't think I'm "right" and anyone that disagrees isn't. Just Oblivion felt shallow to me. Meh, I got my money's worth out of it (except the DLC) so I can't complain too much.
I usually, stop playing games if i don't enjoy playing them, thats what they're for, to have fun, right..? If i had to pick something then it would probably be some russian expansion for 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein'. It was very short, but i spent at least 2 times more time with it than with the original bacause of the difficulty. It was ridiculously hard, only way i managed to advance was sitting behind a corner aiming at the spot where the enemy's head should appear when he comes by. The only reason i played it was to show off to a friend who also tried to finish it.
Driver 3. Oh, I'm sorry. DRIV3R. I counted the amount of times I fell through the game and the total at the end was 42. I'm not even joking. And I had the final bosses' health down to about a centimeter, but he decided to drop under the game map and kill me. That whole game is a test of strength. Mentally and physically. If the glitches don't get you the bad controls will. If the bad controls don't get you the shit AI will. If the shit AI doesn't get you then your broken controller after playing this shitty game will.
I think one of the worst games I remember playing to the end was small soldiers on the original gameboy. I was so excited to play it after I asked for it for christmas(I was only 10-11 at the time). I finished it 2 hours after putting the cartridge in I shit you not I was so upset after I had built it up in my head.....This is the game that has ruined all hype for games for me.
Recently the worst game I played through was Dragons age 2, Never had I felt as though I was just slugging away at a game it just bored me. I finished it in the hopes that DA:3 would require me to transfer my character from the 1st and 2nd games but if the 3rd is anything like it I will not finish it.
The thing that soured me more than anything else on Rage was the game just played like crap. I mean, I'm open to some criticism here since I'm a fan of a few games with spongy combat. But, I've finished the game twice, and this has got some of the most anemic feeling gunplay I've ever seen in an ID game.
If this had been some random no-name developer, I might have been able to give it a pass, but these are the guys that made Doom and Quake... and they give us Gears of Fallout? What the hell?
Mass Effect, the whole series. Probably the rarest answer you'll get here. I HATED it from its terribly crafted and paced story and characters, boring cover-based shooting, and horrible mini-games and inventory management, and complete lack of balance in the abilities of some classes. The story was deep and complex with a lot of lore behind it, but a story is only as good as its delivery, and the characters didn't make me like them before asking me to do a quest for them. At least Veronica in Fallout: New Vegas had the decency to be a character before asking me to do a quest for her. In ME2, the worst of the series, none of the characters make me care about them enough to want to do a quest for them, and then the game had the decency to make me do the quests anyway. On top of that I found the logbook or whatever they called it annoying because whenever I would go into it I would have to read everything in there to get the full story, and I didn't care that much. Suffice to say the game really forgot how to have a good narrative.
