It would have to be a cross between dragon dogma or turning point:fall of liberty.

Dragon dogma logic: friendship, and even everyday talk means love, and your grocer or manger at work or best friend should be your love interest, or even your old uncle who watch you grow up or a little girl. Pissed as hell. It made me want to fly to Japen just to yell at the creators. If you don't want to get an even worser ending then mass effect 3 then buy skyrim or another rpg.

Turning point: fall of liberty: multplayer is trash, and German guns have too little recoil. Storyline was good, but mission too short, and didn't explain what the other half of America( west coast) was doing. Lack of variety with guns, and no plane, tank combat. Lackluster COD 3 shooter.

Command and Conquer 4. A game that turned a tank rush base building fun RTS series and made a no base limited units (usually had 4-8) and horrible artistic style. I looked past all of it because I needed to see the end of the story I had been playing since I was young (7 I think?) After all the lead up to the end with the story of Kane and Nod over 4 other games, with all the hinting at something big going on behind the scenes, it all ends with Kane wanting to go home... DEFAQ????
The stupid design choice aside, the story had me wanting to physically hurt someone. I swear if I ever meet the idiot that wrote C&C4's story he would cease to exist, bloody twat, all of the devs on that game were idiots. And EA wonders why their community wants to kill them >.>

Trying to think back through all the old adventure games I've finished but I can't go past Crysis 2. I still can't believe I finished it. So much cliche, so dumb and pointless, so not fun. And this is not someone who hates Crytek but someone who thought all the Far Cry games were excellent.

My worst game that I have ever completed was...

Army of Two.

I didn't find anything bad about it initially, until I got done with the story in one sitting. It hit me then that no game like that should ever casually be beaten in one sitting, not to mention that when I look back upon it, the storyline is rather horrible, but I should have expected as much.

Duke Nukem Forever.
Was not worth the $10 I paid for it, and that's no exaggeration.

I don't tend to finish bad games but of those that I have completed

First few games that come to mind:
MGS4 (love the rest of the main series games and mgs 3 is my favorite game of all time)
Duke Nukem Forever (Just ... yeah)
Resistance 2 (Loved the first one but this one just fell flat)

Hardline. Imagine, if you remember such things, Operation Wolf with heavily pixelated digitized characters poorly interposed over slightly higher-quality FMV backgrounds, periodically intercut with bare-bones adventure gaming and acting in FMV sequences that would give C-list actors a bad name.

But on the plus side, it did have one scene of gratuitous female nudity.

Just to confirm that the cussed thing existed:

Kind of hard to agree on what a "terrible game" is, did it have to be a glitchy and broken game that crashes or just an offensive pile of racist garbage? Since I mostly stop playing games that are broken that leaves games that I hate (that is made me regret spending the time with them and wanting to throw stuff at the developers), which quite often are games that are functional and bug free and even sometimes AAA titles.

Quite a lot of the terrible games I've played I stoped before the end so this is just the other ones, those that I have finished.

Going through my list the following jump out.
7th Legion
An old RTS that really made me furious, it was a combination of RTS and CCG. You build a rather good force to attack the enemy base but it turns out they have the "Destroy All Your Forces" card and blows them up ... and 5 minutes later you have built a new force and they play the same card again since you draw new ones all the time.

Aaaaargh! Hate!

Dead Island
Ah, yes. The plague has struck ... no, not the zombie plague, the skin disease that everyone on the island is suffering from. Total crap annoying game, I want my time back! At least you can skip all the cut-scenes so the suffering was somewhat lessened.

Evil Islands
Old RPG game where the story really is not associated to the game. You can talk to a totally new character and she in her thoughts admit that she wants to prove herself to you cause she loves you ... yeah. Crap final battle, turns out that all the items you have collected doesn't matter since you get all the best gear in a chest just outside and there is only one way to win the final battle ... heal the NPC that kills the boss for you.

Assassin's Creed 3
Yeah, this is a well made game with good graphics and zero crashes for me but I still hate it. I loved the sea battles and the combat felt fun at time. Starts of with some of the worst Badass Paradoxes I've seen.

Mr "I jump and kill people from above" Connor enters a church and gets ambushed by his father from above ... yeah, thanks game. Since you want me to associate with Connor, and you say that Connor is an idiot, you are calling me an idiot ...

Oh, lets see. Here is the final boss in the middle of a circle of soldiers, I'll use my assassins to open up a hole here with the Sniper and Ambush specialist and when he runs off towards this side I'll ambush him under that tree ... no? No, apparently I walk into the group of soldiers and get captured ... thanks for calling me an idiot again game.

Aha! Finally the boss again, now I get to chase him down! Oh, this is going well, I'm almost up close enough to tackle him. Why doesn't the "pull and shoot gun"-button work? It has worked before during chases? Oh, so instead he runs into a ship and I follow and gets disabled and he gets away ... yeah, frakk you too game for calling me an idiot again.

And then the whole helping assassins are never used except during their own missions, the use of them for missions on the east coast seems totally useless and the trading/crafting doesn't matter either. The whole finding stuff seemed to easy since you see it on your map, the only thing to do was to walk up and get the stuff. And half the cut-scenes you can skip but not all of them.

Wow, Im usually a reader rather than a poster, but with all the bs in this thread I just had to post.
Almost everyone here names a random well-known title as the worst game he has ever played trough, which is pretty much always a lie. Youre either not being honest, havent played more than a handful of games in your time or, which I think is the case, name a big title just so you can watch the reactions of everyone else, feeling all hipster and stuff.

The OP demands the WORST game you have EVER played trough in your life, and I actually read names like FF13, Mass effect and bioshock? Try harder to be edgy. If you are a gamer then there is no way those games are the worst youve ever played.

I love final fantasy and I hated pretty much everything about FF13, but naming it the worst game Ive ever played is both subjectively and objectively WRONG. Yeah, compared to other FF titles its pretty much garbage, but compared to a lot of other games out there, its still a decent game.
Now if in ur lifetime you have only completed but 3 games of which one is FF13, then yeah okay, valid point. But honestly, that shouldnt be the case for most of us here.

Personally, the game that has disappointed me the most was Diablo 3. But once again, its not the worst game Ive ever played. The game I would name would probably be some extremly bugged pos that I only finished due to boredom. Games like these exist en masse. For every good game there exist at least 50 horrible games. So for me its probably something like deer hunter or daikatana. Or manhunt. Or leisure suit larry.

Ah nvm, I seek attention, so the worst game Ive ever played is day of the tentacle.
Wouldn't the reason most people name a big-name release as the worst game they've ever -finished- be because a really bad game they just stop playing? I've never finished Daikatana or Kane & Lynch 2, so they're not exactly options; they're far FAR worse than Rygar or Final Fantasy VII, but I actually played through both of those and had a pretty good time with both of them. It's not necessarily because the games are bad. Just the worst of a good list.

Modern Warfare 3

The only game so horrendously bad that it actually did something worse than leave a bad taste in my mouth. It actually had a kind of contaminating effect, leaving me with no drive play absolutely anything else for days. I couldn't even gather enough motivation to play Half-life or Super Metroid.

@JEBWrench: I get what you mean, but considering the amount of top titles that get named here, I doubt that its the case. In some cases like you said, that person might only have played a limited amount of games and/or just doesnt finish games he doesnt absolutely love, which then leads to him naming a great game as the "worst he has ever played", which is still extreme I think.
But that cant be the case for everyone here. To me its quite obvious that a lot of posters are posting titles like FFxyz, mass effect, half life and fallout just to gain attention and piss everyone off. Its just not honest.
Someone plays and FINISHES skyrim and then says its the worst game he has ever played? I personally didnt enjoy skyrim to much either, but cmon. Thats a lie just for the sake of being edgy. Sad.

You make a good point for sure. I always wonder why people put so much time into games they say they can't stand (the ones you mentioned being prime examples).

It could also be a bi-product of the best game ever/worst game ever mentality that seems to be quite popular. There seems to be very little middle ground. Average, functional games that are just fine tend to get ripped to shreds (for example, the Modern Warfare series) even when, at the end of the day, they're not awful. As I said before, I've paid for and played some truly awful games - but I do fall into that trap myself. I didn't care for Borderlands 2, and even though it is, to me, genuinely average and functional, I find myself feeling that game just isn't very good.

I would easily say Final Fantasy 12, but in the 6 years I've owned it I could never finish it. I think I'm 2/3rds done on my most recent file, and I can't work up the effort for it. Not saying it's a bad game fundamentally, but I've played too many MMORPGs and can only see it as an offline one, which is not my cup of tea. By contrast, I liked 13 and 13-2 purely for the battle system and soundtrack.

I would say Brink but there was barely any story to speak of, let alone finish.

So instead, a tie between Front Mission Evolved and Armored Core V. Largely uninspired soundtracks. Lackluster campaigns. Horrible voice work. Unfriendly multiplayer environment (subjective). They play a bit differently (slow-ish mechs vs fast zippy mechs) but otherwise I ended up with the same play experience from both: a total chore and made me regret my purchase.

I though this thread was for naming games that where terrible and no the "worst ever played" as you state. I don't think that they all are the worst they have played but all the other games, that where terrible in every way, they stoped playing before being done.

And to me it is obvious that you do very much the same. You just dismiss everyone elses opinions without actually being aware what the thread was about.

But it would be possible to think that Skyrim is terrible, without being the "worst game he has ever played", which is what this thread is about.

I rarely even finish games I LIKE, let alone those I don't! :p

But the one that springs to memory is Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

I'm a huge TF fan, and High Moon Studios had really impressed me when they did War for Cybertron. I figured giving them the license to the movie game would make a decent series pretty great (Revenge of the Fallen is a pretty cool game), but I was wrong... I played through to the end, because, well... Transformers, really! The ONLY fun in that game was the Starscream level!

The game shook my faith on High Moon Studios, but then Fall of Cybertron proved Dark of the Moon was a fluke, a rushed game while they were working on better stuff.

Pokemon Black Version.

Cliff notes: The starters were bad (aside from Snivy), a third of the new 150+ Pokemon shouldn't have existed, they tried too hard to emulate Gen 1 with exclusive new Pokemon, Triple/Rotation battles are nowhere to be found (only 3 in the ENTIRE game), Pokemon Musical (that is all that needs to be said about that), you don't get to confront & catch the titular legendary until the end of the main story, N is the worst Team Boss ever, Team Plasma is Team PETA, broken or cheap abilities, no new Pokeballs, and Black 2 and White 2 ARE NOT sequels or third installments, but instead REBOOTS as they fix all the issues of the previous games by adding content from the previous 4 Gens and fixing most issues from their predecessors.

I just unlocked all I could as quickly as possible and buried that mess under my mess of things.

I'd say it is very common for people that are very much into computer games to be rather obssesive, I know I am, and for me at least it takes quite alot for me to put down a game even when I don't like it.

Mega Man Battle Network 4 was the worst game I've ever completed. The worst part is that to fully complete it you had to play through it at least 3 times to get anything useful, and since I missed so many things, I needed to play through a fourth time. The games minigames were atrocious, and you needed to complete them in order to progress. The plot was terrible, and apparently actually based on fan submitted content.

Hate it so much. It also has some of the worst music I've ever heard.

Halo 4 comes to mind. Because Halo games never evolve in the actual gameplay department new Halo games can only be judged by me in the Story department. I absolutely hated the story and it combined with H:CE Anniversary and the Forerunner novel trilogy back in 2011 made me give on Halo having a 'decent' story again.
Even the gameplay annoys me because aside from a few missions, each one is padded to ridiculous length to support the pathetic length of the game.

I was tempted to say Mafia II because I felt like that just wouldn't end and it was incredibly tedious and padded in the last 5 missions, alas.
