To be expected considering xbox is a lot cheaper than PS3 and not all parents are willing to splash out too much on a console.

Eh I can sort of agree but then sort of not, I tend to find that the people on PSN are like the assholes in WoW guilds that flip shit when someone dies in one of their raids, or when a raid is whipped, completely taking the gameplay personal, where as xbox players tend to be the said 12 year old punks that most people will agree with hearing. Now of course there are always decent people and stupid kids on both sides but this is just from experience and what I've seen mostly when playing between the consoles. I'll agree PSN is less juvenile only because when playing on Xbox Live thats all I've played with, but I can't say having a someone who sounds like Mandark (Yes from Dexters Lab) yelling at me for missing a shot or for being killed by a grenade makes feel any better than when a 12 year old tea bags me. Either way though, if teamkill is enabled I'll have revenge...

Its nothing to do with the console.
Its whether people can handle being anonymous or not. Turns out that a few Xbox members cant.

The only difference between Xbox Live and PSN is that fewer PSN users have a mic.

I bet that if everyone who bought a PS3 got a mic for free there would be just as much swearing as on Xbox live.

Has this man never heard of L4D...that Xbox exclusive that many people have to work together on
It's hardly exclusive to the Xbox. It's a PC game too.

Yeah sorry but when every PSN user has a mic then maybe you're allowed to try and compare

But really, how is any argument in favor of PSN going to work when PSN has the troller's paradise known as Playstation Home?

Well, if you read the PlayStation Magazine for the UK and other countries it was coming! In one of the articles, a staff of Play Mag wrote 2 pages on why Resistance 2 is better then Halo in a soft kind of way. Man, I wish I could show you all. If I could be bothered to type it up it is!

OT: Well PS3 to me was kind of more "dark" and serious. Thats why I got the 360 in black! I found the PS3 to be too serious. Although I'd rather have a jet-blackish console I chose XBOX and got an elite.

I do agree with this man in some aspects. Wow, MAG is really serious about gaming!

I played this game once on my PC, it was an MMO, and I met this british dude, and he totally helped me out, we spent the whole evening questing together, and later on formed our own guild, did a lot of PvP and PvE together with likeminded individuals.

Henceforth: PC gamers are saints, and really nice dudes. They're also british.

Logic Schmogic... for sooth!

A nice cure for this would be the ability of selecting any age range and a gameplay maturity level for yourself, then the teams only being made up of people of similar stats.
It would be nice, but how would you rate maturity level?

And as for age. The most racist, homophobic, foul-mouthed people I've encountered in RL who game on the Xbox are all 25-30 yrs old, not 12 year olds. I nearly pissed myself laughing when one of them started on an EPIC rant into the mic because a French-speaking player joined the channel... it was priceless.

I don't doubt the 12-year-olds are just as bad... but I doubt the behaviour is confined to age.

PS3 mics, aren't cheap. $60 for a bluetooth head set? Maybe $40?
You don't need a Bluetooth headset, one of these USB mics for $15 should be enough

Only idiots buy USB mics, when you got a Blue tooth capable system.
You know, wireless all the way?
Cheaper option that works just as well. Doesn't seem that idiotic to me.

I have to disagree based on a lack of evidence: I have never played a multiplayer game on PSN where somebody other than myself was using a mic. For all I know I could have been playing with school-skipping tweens

I haven't played online much on either of them in a long time. I never really heard people on the ps3, kids or adults, but they were fun to talk to most of the time. The most I hear now is when my brother is playing Halo 3, every couple of games i hear a kid talking and cursing, it doesn't bother me too much, you learn to ignore them pretty quick. He finds a bunch of friends on live too, so there really isn't much of a difference, just luck of who you find in your games.

I don't think i'll ever get my live account active again, though.

And yet people give Xbox users shit for not spending $100 on a wireless adapter and just running some LAN cable to their router or whatever.

It is about equal if you ask me.

It balances out. PSN is free to everyone. That means every single little shit with a PS3 can play.

However, when you give everyone the abilitiy to easily communicate, it's a bit different. The only reason you see less "hooting dickholes" on PSN is because they don't want to bother with the cumbersome chat system.

Wireless is a good option but so is saving $45. It's not like you are going to be jumping around the room or anything, wired can be simpler and clearer. Also with a mic rather than Bluetooth Headset you can wear headphones if you don't want to wake your neighbours/house-mates from the noise of your tv's speakers.

If by " "more juvenile" he actually meant more online supported games, a larger player base and an overall more stable and superior network, then yes, I agree 100%...
What tha... huh?

You do realise that MAG has a TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY SIX player cap? With Dedicated servers? And SO many other PS3 exclusive games have low-lag dedicated servers like Warhawk as well as Resistance FoM and R2. Resistance 2 had a freaking 64 player cap on huge low lag maps as well as eight player cooperative playthrough way back in early 2008 and it's still going strong.

What the hell are you talking about "less online support" or "more stable and superior". I mean big titles like Halo 3 have a player cap of only 16. The pay-wall for XBL blocks out the majority of XBox 360 owners from online multiplayer, encouraging a huge proportion to never go online. Also it prevents any game adding casual online access like with Demon's Souls there there is subtle but significant interaction between all the players around the world.

I think the lack of bundled mics is good, acts like an idiot barrier. You'd only go to the trouble of getting a USB mic if you really wanted to contribute something constructive, the same applies for PC gaming as well. The bundled 360 mic is just annoying, especially if you play with headphones and I wish I could buy a better quality mic.
Warhawk...? What's that, never heard of it...

Yes, the player cap in MAG is impressive, but I still think that Live is the better service of the two... Xbox and PSN have about the same number of subscribers last I checked, ergo Sony's free service is just comparable to Xbox Live with it's fees... What does that tell you?

Also, there are a number of games on Xbox that have dedicated servers as well... Left 4 Dead is the first that comes to mind, but I know that there are others...

EDIT: Also want to remind people here that Xbox Live costs less than $5 a month... If you're gonna pay hundreds of dollars for a console & games, you should be able to easily afford the fees for online service.
Have you even TRIED PS3's online? I own both consoles and have tried both and I can state with confidence that XBL is terrible in comparison to PSN while PSN is remarkably close to PC... which I consider the best BTW.

Saying XBL is only $5 per month is a fallacious reductionist argument. You can't just arbitrarily divide the cost of something by smaller units of time till you get an insignificant number. That's like saying a Ferrari isn't expensive if you pay $10 per day... for the rest of your life.

I mean would you pay me $5 per month? Honestly, I can arrange this through pay pal. After all, it is an "insignificant" amount of money. Of course not. The XBL Gold Membership fee is a significant cost that doesn't even go to fund the overwhelming minority of 360 games that have dedicated server support like L4D. It goes directly into Microsoft's bank account.

The bottom line is you are paying for a service which my all technical benchmarks is worse than the free alternative! It's not like the PS3 is significantly more expensive any more and you don't have to shell out on a load of expensive proprietary peripherals as you do with 360.

But the fact that Microsoft claim they are so big on online gaming yet for their two biggest franchises, Halo and Gears of War, they don't bother with dedicated servers at all!?!? It just shows where their priorities really are.

Well I got a 360 and tried the whole "I'll just use ethernet" and it has been no end of bullshit.

I don't think this is comparable, you NEED to connect to the internet to play online but you don't need the ability to chat to play.

Thank Christ! I'm not the only person who has noticed that xBox LIVE is full of hooting howling dick holes! I felt like i am in a room filled with rats and i seem to be the only person who actually notices! Every single time i join a game i am ALWAYS greeted by the sound of people bragging, swearing, screaming and just being generally stupid. The first thing i do whenever i fire up MW2 is mute every single person in the game, then the experience is about 10x better! (Though sometimes i will be brave and TALK to them and am left with a busted eardrum).

Before you bash, i own both systems and play multiplayer on both systems and i think i have a theory as to why xBox users are such assholes in comparison to PS3N. I purely think it is because xBox users are limited to one account, which sounds odd but hear me out! When you can create as many account as you like then there is no real reason to try at multiplayer ranking games like MW2, so you might as well work together with your team because you can always make another account anyway!

xBox is different as it really is every man for himself, as its so expensive that if having the most fun for your moneys worth means being the high school bully to every other player then so be it!

So yes, xBox is definitely more juvenile.
