OK, that was seriously the best ZP you have done yet. I was pissing myself laughing the whole way through. Most notably, I liked the Gamespot reference but I would have to say my favourite bit was the number 4. The 360 joke hit particularly close to home seeing as mine bricked just last week.

FYI Spell-checker, 'favourite' is spelled with a 'u' and there is no 'z' in 'customise'
you can spell favourite in other way, that's british way and Favorite is American(?) way

My response to this movie was a big fat "meh." I personally love SSBB, and couldn't care less that Yahtzee doesn't like it. THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO DON'T LIKE THE GAMES I LIKE!!! OH NOES! WHATEVER SHALL I DO?! His Brawl review just wasn't all that funny. It sounded way too forced. He should go back to doing what he was doing before, i.e., reviewing just the games he wants to and not the ones he's expected to, and ignoring people who email him. This review just felt totally unnecessary. Yes, there are stupid people on the internet. We know. Yes, there are people who pathologically love video game X and will fly into a rage if you dare to criticize it. We know this too. You don't need to point this out to us. We know Yahtzee is a smug, superior bastard. He tells us this on his reviews regularly. However, its just more entertaining when he's being a superior bastard over games. Watching him knock down some straw men over the internet just is rather boring.
Holy Damn I think this contains too much correctness for this topic to handle.
In the sense that these are my thoughts exactly except I didn't even have to write them (Hooray)

It's clear that you never liked games like Brawls. I understand, because I am not a big fan of whole concept of Wii, too. Also, it is abvious that you like to go around kill people, but not RPG more like FPS. My guess is that you are going to review GTA4 next, because of either pressure or you like that game. If you like it I can't say anything, but if you don't like it don't do it. I never liked GTA, whole gang stuff, and I think there is lot better games. I don't know you will like them, but try to review some non-recent games.

I was very much hoping for a GTA:4 review, but as it seems he is too busy playing it - and only it (I'm sure of it) - to make an actual game review. This was a little off the beaten track but proved to be probably THE best episode here at The Escapist and a much needed ***** slap back to reality for a hefty chunk of the game world... the ones that know about him... spread the word!

If you feel that you are a straw man, you may want to add some validity to your arguments.

P.S. If you come back to the glorious motherland, Yahtzee, you can get the first two series of Skins on dvd (ignore the crap weather).

Great fun this week Yahtzee.

It ought to be very interesting to see how GTAIV gets reviewed. I just finished it yesterday and in all honesty i don't think it is a game at all. I think it is an interactive peice of art. Kind of like being able to walk around in a painting and interact with it. Generally this is why a lot of people are giving it 10/10 even though the gameplay elements in some areas leave a lot to be desired (though i still loved every minute except some of the long range driving and a few nade/rocket issues which left me dead and my enemies laughing - and it is still the most fun i have had in a while). The artistic merit of it supercedes any niggling flaws like in any good peiece of art. So if GTAIV is more art than game how can Yahtzee review it in his usual style and still do it justice? From a purely gameing perspective it is only worth about a 9 but the rest is so so good that it makes up for all the stuff especially the cover woes. I'm sure he will find a way or will proclaim me stupid and do whatever the hell he wants. Dealer's choice.

Wow, so you really poked an angry bear this time Yahtzee! I agree with what you say totally, but I have to point out the lack of PC games you review, yeah, true, a lot of the big company's, who we (The superior race) the PC gamers have remained loyal too from the start, have been ignoring us! Rockstar with GTA, and now EA with battlefield Bad company! So common! Show us more support, consoles are for Christmas, PCs are forever!

*sigh* the people who hate Brawl and loved this video (about half of which are first-time posters with even worse typing skills than the idiots who wrote the letters Yahtzee decided to hold up as straw men) outnumber the Brawl fanboys by about 4 to 1 at this point, and yet they're still complaining about being persecuted by "those horrid Nintendo fanboys."

Oh, and I recognized two of those "letters" as being comments in the Brawl thread. Did they also send the exact same comments to him word-for-word via e-mail or was he trying not to let us know he actually reads these comments?

My only experience with 'Brawl' was a one time viewing at a friends house while rather stoned. I took one look at the A bashing and crazy light based tom-foolery on screen and instantly dismissed it as childish crap. Although to be fair I would not have played even when I started gaming back in 87 as a wee 5 year old. I think games like Smash Brothers are an indicative sign of a regressing to the superficial aspect of human nature. Shite in other words. Absolute shite. And people I have met who like these games have often been very, very thick. (They also liked the Transformers film....ooooooh bitter)

Now this is the review I wanted to see.

I have to admit, this review is the best of ZP's so far; It was fucking hilarious and I loved how did he corrected the spelling errors for the letters. But I still see that Nintendo Fanboys will still defending their favorite king (who doesn't need any defending really...) no matter the situation.

Now, I recommend Nintendo fan boys to calm down a bit, if Yahtzee gave a bad review about this game then it's not going to be the end of the world or something.

But then again, if there are fan boys then we will still see this endless fight...

It just kind of sux he picked the dumb mails and made fun of them so it looks like he knows what hes talking about. But it was funny; the yatzhee fanbois enjoyed. What else does he? To do a real review for once? No need to do that, he's popular doing entertainment, nothing else.

Thanks Yahtzee. This was one of your best reviews... mrrr.... posts... errr... videos yet. I'm glad you took the time to put the fat unwashed masses in their rightful place. Please carry on as usual, not that you wouldn't anyway.

There's way too many comments to read personally. I must say that I was impressed to see you hold up the old Commodore 64 keyboard(the brains of the system) in your hands. I've had a C64 since I was little and I still think it was one of the most impressive console/pre-computers of its time. I do miss that the company was too slow to beat the competition. I wonder how much better a Commodore world would be...

I don't understand why the argument over a review that came out two weeks ago is still going on, let alone in this thread. The original thread is still alive; go post your opinion on the matter there, if you must.

This week's video is not about Brawl, but rather all the angry fanboys who responded to Yahtzee after the review for Brawl. Granted, I'm sure some of the fanboys had valid reasons for why the review wasn't up to par, which weren't included in the video, and another rant about hatemail is not the review we all wanted to see, but it was funny and will bide us over until next week. At the very least, this week's episode was filler. If you didn't like it, treat it as such. If you have an opinion on the game itself, post in the other massive thread.

And with that I'm off to bed. Night folks.

I'm glad Ben did this. Apparently, it seems like only Nintendo fanboys are the ones who can't take criticism, in any shape or form. The fact alone that he had to do this is pretty great for me, so now they can all go cry in their corners while they stroke their genitals with their Wii-mote. <-- HA!

Also, why do people sign up just to say "first" "second" and so on? Either their idiots or they seriously love creating tons of gmail accounts to get banned over and over again.

And yes, I did register just to say that.

I loved the part about the SEGA Dreamcast. I couldn't stop laughing when I watched the part about it. As a former owner of one, you definately made me remember my disappointment when they announced they would stop making games for it.
