Not internet speak. It just requires having visited any other part of this website.

No, he definitely had some justifying statements in the review; "maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way, maybe...etc." Granted, that led to his rant about Sonic, but that's what he does. There is some truth to the maturity statement, but not in the way it was read by most people I imagine. If Xbox targets the "beer-drinking frat boy demographic," then the players are too busy attempting to make themselves look manly in the face of their friends (and a good way to do that is to engage in a bloody shootout) than reading online forums about their favorite video games, which, frankly, decreases the manly/cool/whatever reputation significantly. Most of the Halo friends I have fall into the above category (nothing wrong with that, so don't hurt me), whereas most of the SSB friends I have aren't too heavy into the drinking and such, and can sit around arguing in nerdy forums like this one without hurting their reputation too much, if at all. I hope, for my sake.
Halo fanboys are game-jocks, SSBB fanboys are game-nerds. Both are pretty immature, but I'd have to go with jocks as more annoying, and nerds as more defensive.

Heh. I'd agree with that.

How long do you think this topic'd be with all the Nintard bile removed?
The average "I love you Yahtzee. I want your children"... so, about 6 pages.

Edit:

Nope. If you only come to The Escapist for Yahtzee, then you really don't need to know what this means.

Oh, and ElArab, this is quite fun. The RP is kinda slow too...

835 posts. That's gotta be a record for this forum or something. I guess this proves it, Nintendo fanboys are easier to bait than Xbox fanboys. Or maybe it's just that Yahtzee has been around for a bit longer now.

i would say both are equally easy to bait, but SSBB fans are more involved in actual defense, whereas the average Halo fanboy argues like he plays the game, short bursts, in pairs and for the sheer thrill of the experience, rather than the end result.

i say that with admiration, if there's one thing you can say about the Halo crowd, its that they do live in the moment.

well here goes everyone who has bummed yahtzee sayin it was another great review is a fanboy of yahtzee its the same every week oh yahtzee such a great review sorry guys and gals he just ain't reviewed it he assumed most of the info bout the game was already biased me i like my 360 and my pc both suit different games not owning a wii i wouldn't know much about the games but it does look like a decent piece of kit and at the end of the day you've got too hand it too nintendo they woulda been all but extinct if the wii hadn't come along as for the fighting games well button bashing yes thought proccesses maybe but it comes down to which games are 4 u and which are not me i dont get gtas i dont find them as enjoyable as other repeated games and lets get onto that subject what games nowadays aren't following another game an rts is an rts build structures build troops take out the bad guys shoot em ups all follow each other call of duty, halo rpgs final fantasys the list goes on basically you fall in love with a series you play the next ones for any slight tweaks new charactors storys maps timeline so on and so forth some times they get better Call of duty 4 sometimes they get worse devil may cry but you still play them if you enjoy what the game is about its all about personal preferance i wont hate other people if they love something because thats them normally tryin to redeem why they bought the game in the first place and or because they are too in love with the game to see its faults

Lzdarkangel, I must honestly ask you what the hell you just said and also inquire as to if you've passed out due to lack of air, on account of there being no viewable full stops, commas or other gramatical symbols.
Ah, but I'll leave that for now.

What is really troubling me about this thread is that it's full of stupid people, who've actually taken Yahtzee's bait.
You've been lured in, 50% of the people commenting ablout this video has been purposly lured in by a comedic video.

"OMG lik teh wii rulz! yathzee blohz donkie dic lol!"

Seriously, Yahtzee has not created a universal proclamation carved into the fabric of time, he created comedy and has used you fanatic Wii lovers to improve the punchline.

my biggest problem with yahtzee's review was it seemed so forced, like he really didn't want to do it and honestly i don't think he should've been asked to, anyone who's seen even one ZP review could probably guess his opinion on this game and forcing him to review it is like making a republican watch brokeback mountain, sparks will fly and someone's head will inevitably explode.

the thing is smashbros is indeed intended for nintendo fans, and since... what maybe 10% (if i'm being generous) of the escapist readers actually tolerate nintendo much less like them. i think this was a fairly predictable outcome

but hey now i'm rooting for this thread maybe if we really turn up the flames we could make this the longest thread ever on the escapist.
Maybe it was just some smart marketing dude that said "ZP is going to be about smash bros so we can get enorm add revenues out of the thousands forum thread hits ^^"

Now that's a goal I can work for.

Oh, and to avoid reports of me spamming, I really hate having to unlock characters for fighting games. Does the Super Smash Brothers series have cheat codes to have you unlock all the characters? It would really have saved some time.

I just realised that even the Console Wars review got less posts than this one. The bloody Console Wars got smashed by SSBB!... What is the world coming to?

This, Stompy, is the frontline of the ongoing fanboy war.

... Eww, it's so corney.../jk

But on a serious note, wouldn't the flippin' Console Wars be more, you know, fight-worthy?

Allright, cut RIGHT here... I shall make an experiment. I shall document how many posts have been made by people and rank them on a 5 step scale going from love to hate to posts on this topic:
1.Love: SSBB for teh win! IT AINT NO BUTTON MUSHA
2.Support: SSSB is a good game, he well, doenst like fighting games, i get it.
3.Neutral: Dunno, havent played the game/dont really care, I know its just comedy.
4.Nasty: The game IS a bit overrated.
5.Hate: LOLZORZ TAKE THAT SMASH BROTHAS!!!

Just to compare, I will ALSO do the same for the Halo 3 review, cut at comment number 390 on THAT one. For this effort, I shall only count the FIRST post made by any one person. This'll obviously take some time.

PS: This study is meant to be done for a project my girlfriend is making for one of her psycology classes. Please be patient, It'll take some time, and I WILL post the results since I think it's:

a. Something interesting.
b. Whatever mod looks at it will probably lock this topic down already, and I think it has been enough.

If b happens, I'll post the results on another thread. Excuse me if the way I've worded this isn't the most professional, but I don't really think anyone is making a major out of a forum.

The N64 version of this game is more playable in my opinion. The Wii version really is terrible. Though to be honest, I didn't have high hopes for it to begin with and he game was a gift...
