The whole point of consoles is plug-n-play not think about it. I'm salty that I even have to choose from "performance" and "quality"- I paid hundreds of dollars for this sh** gimme both! Ugh.
You would think that, but they've (the industry as a whole) been pulling this racket since forever. It only really got noticeable during the era of 3D. Don't post about graphical horsepower, but the most powerful game on the most powerful consoles can't bother to run at 60 frames per second, and they'll make the excuse of "it's more cinematic/it makes the less anime or cartoony".

Anyway, this is the coolest bit of marketing and while I'm not into fighting games anymore this sort of stunt is getting me on the SF6 hype train:

Hell yeah I'm there!
As long as Lil' Wayne ain't playing his crappy autotune songs during the tournament, I'll watch. I found out yesterday, but chose not the posted, because I really don't care much for him or his music. He ain't a bad guy, but I just don't like his music.

You're fucking with me... More expensive than regular subscription, but fewer games? WTF kind a drug is Ubisoft on?

Actually forget Ubisoft, who will be dumb enough to pay for this?
People who want Assasins Creed Infinity/Infinite/whatever really badly?

In a way, I'm glad Ubisoft locked themselves in to making varients of the same game so I can safely say I'm not interested in anything they put out because I've already played their new game already.....many many times.

Even the Valiant Hearts game came and went without a mention because it was a mobile only title. Seriously Ubi, If you can't be bothered to try, I can' t be bothered to care.

A while back Kotaku did a hit piece interview with Yoshi P asking why there were people of color in FF16.

Now Kotaku is upset they were not invited to the FF16 media event.

I wonder why that could be.
Because Square Enix being Japanese publishers are too sensitive to criticism and thought Kotaku was digging too deep. Problem with that take? Just don't be surprised when the smear campaign gets harsher Square Enix because you are unfortunately disappointing everybody right now

Plus both companies are ‘softies so they’re kinda made for each other here.
It's been an interesting past Generation tbh. The battle between them has been shifted into a new arena in some ways, like moving away from game v game and more of service v service. But also MS just keeps stepping on land mines and it's rather hilarious to me.

Looking at this, I get a distinct feeling this is gonna be Gotham Knights all over again; live-service elements removed only at the surface level, with all those resources players have to grind for
Yeah that's my take on it too. But you know something Gotham Knights wasn't terrible, I platinumed it. Is Squad has a better throughput of a story, it'll be fun enough to playthrough once.

Well at least they are gonna try to fix it.

They moved this game to a dump month. They can fix it all they want; I'm still not buying it at any price. They might as well start from scratch and make a new game. But of course, that's not going to happen.

Wasn't terrible is not exactly a milestone. It's still is a mediocre Batman spin-off at the end of the day. There's nothing interesting to look at. The city looks generic as all hell. And the combat is so damn boring. I've had more fun with a Batman Forever arcade game. At least it's stupid fun and entertainingly bad. Both Batman: Brave And The Bold games on the Wii and DS have more combat going for it. And those are 2D brawlers made for kids in mind. For reference, both games are pretty easy; especially the Wii version.

Watching the State of Play right now. Combat definitely looks like be leagues better than FFXV. All the attacks and skills feel like they have weight to them. Not sure how reliable the skill point recommendation will be. In my experience, these recommendations never really worked.

AI companions always seem to be hit or miss. I hope there are at least a few tactical settings for them.

Will the stroy focused vs action focused be the difficulty settings?

Battling against other dominance icons sounds really cool. Interactive icon battles? Holy shit. They all look so good. They are all here; Shiva, Ramuh, Ifirit, Titan, Bahamut, omg....

I am always fascinated with moogles in FF games; They have such a presence in the series, yet also feel so... out of character in each game. Same in this game.

The world looks gorgeous, man.

So the game looks great and all, but then I realized I will be waiting 6 months before I can play it on PC.

Devil May Cry, Panzer Dragoon, God of War, it looks like they took elements from all of these great games.

I am a little nervous now because they revealed a Lore-book lady where you can read about WTF has been happening and it's making nervous about the story being a mess like FF12 and 13, where you'll have to study to understand what's happening and why. So that's a reveal I wasn't happy about honestly.

Otherwise the game looks incredibly fun to play.

Bitchin; I'm in! There's some Asura's Wrath as well!

Honestly, the story is my least concern. They're another Japanese property stealing borrowing from Berserk, so there ain't that much to get lost. Don't get me wrong I am still interested, but whatever is going on in FFXVI, is way more interesting and entertaining than whatever the hell was going in all of XIII and XV.

EDIT: FFXVI has a fucking arcade mode?! Let's go!
