This would be pretty sick. I've always played Elder Scrolls on consoles so I've missed out on the mods.

I should warn you, after playing 3 bethesda games on my PS3, I?m dedicated to getting this next one for the PC. The PS3 version of any Bethesda game is sure to get the worst support if not complete neglect. Fallout New Vegas was the last straw: half a year, a few patches, and the game is still a mess. I know Skyrim will have a whole new engine but to me that just means they have a whole new engine to work the bugs out of.
Besides the gameplay mods, I want the pc version for the user made patches which always seem to be better than the official ones.
At this point I?d rather keep upgrading my pc rather than continuing to buy games that don?t work.
D'aw. Really?

:(

Mentioning New Vegas basically did the trick right there. I only bought it a few weeks ago when I saw it super discounted, and I remember being super smug that I'd waited for "all the bugs to be fixed" before buying it. Lo and behold it froze the hell up. Multiple times. That's what I get for being pleased with myself.

But, well... maybe if we can figure out how to install user content... we can get fan patches? I know we shouldn't HAVE to, but... still...

I find it hard to believe that Microsoft will allow this to happen without adding a price tag to it, or allowing it to happen at all.

Heed my words Bethesda. Come up with a system that prevents certain things put onto the consoles.
I was thinking this (well...something -like- this, that wasn't quite so specific).

But some of the most popular mods for Oblivion involved changing skin textures on characters. And a lot of these textures were nude-mods (you can say coincidental or purported).

It's pretty core to the modding experience (having better looking characters). How are they going to moderate all this stuff?

Some guys just don't get it do they? This effort by Bethesda (And I mean effort, this sounds like this wasn't part of the original plan.) was made to bring pc and console gamers together. Now I am gonna rag on both at the same time so try to keep up.

Console gamers are not inherently cockends, as the steriotype implies. But then again, pc gamers (and/or modding communities) are steriotyped as stuck-up twats, and from what I've seen, your not doing much to shake it off. So maybe you can think about the fact that they are replying to your disengenuous and pointless tantrums ON A PC. They probably know half the shit you guys do, and are probably involved in it themselves, so the whole gaming platform xenophobia act is just..... stupid.

But console guys, this is not a one man act, you gotta have input too! One point of this thing is to get you guys involved, so before you start a hand-flappy act for a new feature that is all a bright sparkly gift, you should consider how much work went into the mods in the first place and maybe try to add to that in your own way. This (SPECULATED) feature is to get you to join the modding communities, not leech off of them.

Well maybe that last point applies to both of you, try working together for once. Its a wonder why game devs give you kids anything if all your gonna do is ***** and moan against each other about it. If you think you got any reason to keep this segregation act up, please, do respond to me, I am willing to listen to anyone, PC or Console gamer. I am just playing devils advocate.

Nice, I'm still going to play on PC though. Yet nice to see other people getting a nibble of the great modding cake.

I don't like how they are downplaying the PC market for Bethesda games and I would love to see this on consoles instead of shitty DLC. I do see a major problem with this. Some mods are really fucking awkward to install. I can see people having problems with overwritten textures that won't be easy to fix on 360s.

I really don't see how they can properly implement it given the way the mods are installed and even some of the content of the mods. They should probably completely omit the nude and ones that have tentacle violation to put it lightly.

Well considering the fact I turned in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion on the PS3 and bought it again for the PC was because I wamted mods. So yes this great news for me. I want Skyrim even more now.

Wait, what 90% on consoles. That has to have come from their crappy PR team and not from actual facts. Because I'm not buying that 90% bullcrap one bit.

Since Microsoft (not sure about Sony) determines the price of DLC, on the Xbox (PS3?) this either won't happen or it will have a price tag making it too expensive for the players to purchase every single mod coming out, and force Bethesda to sell a product made by the community (a hundred different legal issues involved there that would need to be sorted out on a case by case basis).

There is a reason why console Team Fortress 2 hasn't received updates.

I know this will somehow cost me money. I assume that it will involve something like having to pay for the equivalent of the cerberus network and that when you stop paying for it, the mods will no longer work or something.

I love the idea, but I SENSE impending assrape.

I really hope this happens. Even if they do something like every 2 months get all the best mods put them on a disk and make us pay for them or make it dlc. I think it would still be awesome. I don't think they'd want all that work though...

My computer can't handle Oblivion so doubt it will handle Skyrim :(

Too good to happen. Microsoft will definitely go out of it's way to prevent anything like this on Xbox Live, I get the feeling Sony would be more okay with the idea since they keep a more open network, but even then I don't know how it would work (having modded Beth's games before.... which can be extremely fun).

The PC is still the best route as long as people can afford it (many can't though). At least they're talking about it, which is better than nothing.

Some of the mods, especially graphics overhauls would make any current console explode. :p
So playing Morrowind with Skyrim-quality visuals will still be PC only. (now if only they'd get the gameplay overhaul done as well *drool*)
