Just because the twit felt the need to remove her sweater, three people are dead.

Here's some advice: Pull the car over then remove clothing item, you fucking dipshit.
Amen to this. People's stupidity doesn't surprise me anymore.

No, I haven't, ever, not while the car was running. Nor has anyone else ever held the steering wheel while I've been driving. Not that I haven't done dumb things while driving that might have lead to accidents but fortunately didn't, but nothing ever of that level.

My sincere, sincere condolences to the family. I hope the kid turns out alright.....if the baby survives....a 6-month pregnant woman in a severe car crash doesn't make it look good...

This makes me want to get Company of Heroes now, trying the demo out now.

Also, everyone here needs to stop acting like they've never made a mistake. Sure, yours didn't cost any human lives, but no one is perfect, and we learn by mistakes like this. She didn't kill people on purpose, so lets all just grow up a bit and ease off the "she should be tortured then killed" crap.
The problem here is that she was on drugs and attempting to remove a sweater while driving. if she ran a red light, it would still be horrible but also something most of us have done. Forgivable, in other words. I don't know about you, but I rarely get hight and then attempt to remove sweaters while driving. That is what makes this so particularly heinous.
One time I was driving along and my friend in the back seat was being a massively annoying dick, more annoying than he usually was (why the hell did I ever give him a lift back from college every day... anyway) and I looked up in the mirror and told him to stfu. While I did that however I ran a red light. I got lucky there was no one around but had someone been crossing I'd have probably killed them and it would have been as equally pointless a death as the one above.

Don't get me wrong, it was a terrible tragedy and she needs to pay her dues; but some people in this thread are really going insane with talk of torture and bears as if they've never done anything in their lives that might have killed someone had the variables been different.

Also it doesn't say what kind of drugs they were, for all we know they could be prescription drugs that she was having an adverse reaction to. That happened to me once, I took some antibiotics for a small cut (infection sucks) and I almost passed out a few hours later. Doctor said it happens sometimes that you'll be the small % of people who have bad reactions to random chemicals. Had I been driving I'd have probably crashed.
I will take your last statement as a valuable one. If that turns out to be the case, I rescind my previous statement. However, if she was, as I suspect, on recreational drugs or even sober, I believe that this is what capitol punishment is for. I'm not calling for torture like some others, I only wish justice for this terrible crime.
Taking off a sweatshirt while driving is a terrible crime? Accidents happen, get over it. Terrible crimes happen everywhere. Drug dealers killing peoples families is a terrible crime. This is simply an accident. A sad one, but an accident never-the-less.

Maybe you don't live in a state/country that gets incredibly cold during the winter, and then your car heats up during the winter due to heat. Pretty much everyone I know in Minnesota/Wisconsin has done this at some point in time.

I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal. Way more people die every day to drunk driving that don't get mentioned in the news because they aren't famous. Many more die from old age, and yet more die from hunger because food is scarce in their country. One person doesn't make a substantial difference to my life.

However, that does suck for the family and friends. People should stop insulting the drivers of the other vehicles since drugs were "suspected" and not proved. Are any of you going to say you've never taken a shirt off in a car? Grow up...
A single death it tragic, a million is a statistic.

I dislike this argument of "Plenty of people die all around the world!", does that make this death any less impacting? Does it make anyone's sadness over the event any less valid? To be frank, I find it insulting to be honest.

And no, I've never taken my shirt off while driving a car. If you have, I really wouldn't want to be a passenger in your car.

That wasn't a single death, by the way, it was three.

Rational people should understand that one death should be insignificant, unless you personally know the people involved. Should I just start posting news articles of people that have died in the last three years? Are you going to argue how tragic every single one of these deaths is to me for the next two weeks?

Sure, a death is sad. Should we be discussing how to torment this driver because she accidentally got in a car crash? No, most definitely not. I can almost promise you this girl realizes how serious of an accident she has had. Will going to prison do ANYTHING to help this woman understand the seriousness of what happened? No. She has already suffered enough knowing she took away not just one random person's life, but two of her friends, and another person. Not to mention left a future child without a father.

FUCKING TRAGEDY.

He has a kid on the way? Killed by a drunk and drugged driver? Who was taking their sweater off?!

She better be more remorseful than humanly possible or I say BURN HER AT THE STAKE.

Sorry mate, but I just had two of my best friends die to drunk drivers in this last Summer, and their parents aren't wishing death against the driver of that vehicle, and neither am I, or any of our other friends. It's seriously immature to have so much hate against an individual, when it was indeed an accident. You have to be quite the fool to think the person who did it isn't feeling guilty beyond belief already. Quite a few people that do this kill THEMSELVES because of the guilt they feel. Unless you're ridiculously overpowered with emotion because of his death, most of you have no reason to talk so ill of this woman.

And this is why capital punishment should exist. If a person is so retarded they drive around inberiated and/or high and get people killed its murder. And completley meaningless murder at that. No1 should have to go out like that. And ofcourse the murderer survives and the victims die, yeah karma is bogus.

Hope they execute that retard by stapling him to a grizzly bear or something.
They wont do that because that would be cruel and unusual punishment toward the bear.
Good point... She should just be tortured for a few years before they finally throw her into a pen full with half-starved pigs that eat her while she's still alive.
I sincerely hope you're joking.
Not at all, she must be properly punished for her idiocy and for her wasting lives needlessly and so pointlessly.
You don't really get the justice system, do you? She should be thrown in jail, or at most put to death. Torture? Really? No one deserves that, no matter their crime.
I get it, and its as decadent as it is weak. When rapists and murderers sentenced for 2 months to 2 years and get out earlier for good behaviour, death penalty with torture before it is a viable option. Subhuman idiots who do drugs and drive inebriated and endanger other peoples lives should be punished the same way. Painfully and for a long duration. They are a waste of space and disgusting stain on humanities genepool.

High Flight
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I?ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
of sun-split clouds, ? and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of?wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov?ring there,
I?ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air....
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I?ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark nor even eagle flew?
And, while with silent lifting mind I?ve trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

You will live on through your work, rest in peace

RIP. I hate to generalize, but wtf is up with women that think driving is the best time to fucking multitask?

have you ever really paid attention to the people driving around you while on the interstate?

fucking scary as hell once you realise how many people actually DO things like that, which is why I drive a 1960's tank of a car, none of that fiberglass and plastic crap.
Oh, I was on my way to Florida with my family on the I-75 and a tractor trailer carrying a load of logs flew up beside us. As he was passing, you could see that the driver was peeling an orange. If your behind the wheel of a couple tons of death and chrome, mind the fucking road.

On topic, this is really tragic. Now because this gal was too stupid to pull over, and apparently impaired as well, three people are dead, a child and wife will have to grow up without their father and husband, and countless other lives have been forever changed. I hope she is punished to the fullest extent of the law. I just picked up Company of Heroes during the Steam sale, and it is a great game, it's a shame his life was cut so short like this.

Here's the thing. Of course, scores of people die everyday from numerous causes such as war, hunger, etc. In the grand scheme of things, Mr. Wood's death is one small note compared to all the lives lost in the amount of time this thread has existed. Of course, we don't hear about those deaths, and, to an extent, that is tragic. You know what, though? A guy working for a solid developer gets killed in a tragic accident. This news reaches his friends at the developer, and then it gets spread to other gaming news outlets such as this one. All of this is a reaction to one particular tragic accident that was reported and brought to this particular site. This is just some gamers and geeks giving their condolences to an unfortunate loss and venting their anger at the persons responsible. Why is that such a problem for you? Sure, it may not make a difference in your life, and that's fine, but don't come on with this mighty "it makes no difference to me, why should it to you" attitude that makes you look like a douche. Makes no difference to you? Cool! Why are you here then? To just start shit? If so, then congratulations, I've fallen for it.

By the way. I have never taken off my shirt while I'm driving. That's just idiotic and nonsensical. Don't be absurd and assume that everyone has done such a thing, because the fact is that some people probably haven't.

Condolences to the families of those involved. No matter what way you look at it, every person in this story has lost a great deal. Three families have lost loved ones, and another two are about to lose a couple of theirs. Now these to girls have to live with these deaths on their shoulders for the rest of their lives. I'm not saying they shouldn't go to jail (they should), but even jail won't be as bad a punishment as the unbearable guilt they must feel.
