If there's one thing PC gamers like to talk about, it's graphics.
Well thats a generalization straight out of hell when one of the biggest success's on PC ever was Minecraft and that game has shit graphical capabilities but tons of style.

Why do people insist on claiming we get free dlc? It's included, yes, but we're also paying a higher cost than for the console version.
The issue with what your saying is that were paying 40$ or lower if its on sale for a New Game [on PC anyways] while people who bought Dark Souls new had to spend 60$ and with this DLC that will either add a extra 10$ or a extra 20$. In essence, were getting a deal. Even if the Console version is sold for 30$ at Gamestop they still have to buy the DLC which is a extra 10$ so their paying the exact same price.

Yes, were getting free DLC because were not paying for it. It is coming with the version you buy on Steam.

The only people who I trust on this is not here, which is a console-gaming site who makes more generalizations about PC more times then I can masturbate in a day. I trust Rock Paper Shotgun more then here and honestly I feel that a lot of the hate on the Steam Forums and what not is on a version that isn't ready to be released.

Also, Daystar once again nails it.

You guys wanted Dark Souls, you're getting it, warts and all.

The game isn't going to be worse on PC, it's going to be exactly the same as the console version, the version you petitioned so hard to get.

And you get free DLC.
This is true, this is what we got and I couldn't have spent my money better. Bloody whining wankers.

The Rock Paper Shotgun article can be found here, and honestly these people pretty much do exclusively PC gaming so I'll go with what their saying much more frequently when it comes to it.

It's a good game, but this sounds like a completely incompetent port, and it doesn't do it justice. Even what are being regarded as the "worst ports" didn't have a locked down rendering resolution and a FPS cap.

This bodes bad for the multiplayer too.

I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned, but where does it say in the OP that the pc version will be worse than the console version was? The game was playable on the console despite any frame rate issues I had, and so it should also be playable on the PC.

Reading some of these post leads me to believe that PC gamers care way more about how a game looks than how much fun it is to play, and if this is the case than you shouldn't buy any new games at all. Just play Crysis and stare deeply into the ultra realistic foliage until the miasma of the universe stares back at you through the pixels.

It's not about how good the game looks. It's not about the PC version being better or worse, it's about how well it runs and how well it is compatible with modern gear. Better tools should do better jobs, it's that simple.

The fact that this port isn't compatible with modern systems DESPITE the original game being modern, shows that the developers got very lazy in design for this. It's like .Any game deserves better.

I play Dark Souls on my PS3, I enjoy it, and would have gladly bought the PC version despite the WindowsLive online requirement. But now that I know that my computer will be getting the EXACT same experience as the PS3 version, despite my near superior gear, I don't really want to dish out 40 dollars.

You played it already, so I really do understand your point of view. but there are a lot of PC only gamers (some friends of mine included) who have not played the game yet and now say that they won't at all because of the graphics bottleneck.

This is not a good reason to miss out on the experience. If you don't have a console and you aren't sure about buying Dark Souls, then you should at least take a minute and play it on a friends console so you can see how much fun it is. Otherwise you are judging a game solely on graphics and you can see my previous post for a further course of action.

PC gamers asked for a console game, from a console developer.

They're getting it.

I feel really bad for FROM, because they don't really have any options here other than heading headfirst into this elitist shitstorm.

The game was perfectly playable on consoles.
The game will be the same, if not slightly better, on PC.
Therefore it will be perfectly playable on PC.
i did not spend 600 dollars on a pc to play games with 30 fps.

Resolution and FPS is a bit of a bugger - it will take up 1/5 of my screen, and run slow as hell. Eh, I'll probably still be able to force a few graphics boosts onto it with the GPU drivers and the FXAA injector. If not, well, at least I've got the game and faster loading times.

Then don't buy it.

However, if you were one of the ones that begged FROM to release on PC, then recognize that you are a massive hypocrite.

If you didn't beg/plead or sign the petition, then you aren't hypocritical, and you can just ignore this post.

bit dissapointed at some of the reactions about pc elitsm, i understand where they are coming from and altough i am a pc only gamer (financial reasons) i can see the fun and advantages of consoles and enjoy them when visiting friends. the 30 frames are really not a problem, but the resolution is a bit of a hitch, in the sense that on a tv the scaling and distance from the tv help alot but this may not be the case sitting close to the monitor.
Not only this, but I'm amazed people are unaware that (some) HD TV's are not just big computer monitors. They interpolate images when they framerate is lower than their prescribed framerate that gives the image more of an illusion of smoothness. It's called Motion Interpolation and it's a real thing, and is not present in PC monitors. There's a reason, besides distance, why 30FPS looks good on my TV, but looks choppy on my monitor.
I need to get a tv that has that and plug my pc into it.

So PC gamers whined and bitched when they didn't get it in the first place, now they have a slightly better version and they still whine and ***** about it. I'm sorry the dirty console scrubs dared to give it to them in the first place, how dare they give them the game they asked for!

Well since I didn't plan on getting in anyway, this doesn't really change my mind. It's pretty much my principal that no matter what graphics I run a game at, my resolution will always be full.

Also 30 frame cap.

Edit: And holy shit it uses GFWL? nope nope nope.

But a movie is something different from a game :S in a movie you dont have to react to events, but as i said, i dont mind 30 frames as long as it stays in that neigborhood.

I find that 30 frames does give a game a filmic feel while 60 fps gives a bit more realism en fluid feel.
I see the problem, and would agree, but:
experience (and of course observations from 3rd parties) tells me that 30 FPS are good enough, as you calculate most of the stuff that is going on in the game subconsciously instead of actually seeing it (which is really shitty from our brains and we all like to be in denial about it). so as long as it's above 20-something you're surprisingly fine.
I agree with your point to a degree, it's why bf3 and cod on console both feel good to me and it could never ruin my fun when a game is capped at 30 fps. My point is not that 30 fps is not enough. but it is a fact that the difference between 30 and 60 fps can be noticed and can create a different feel. Not needed maybe, with that i agree but it is there.

And i whould just like to say that not all people with pc's are elitists, i do like the perks of pc gaming and love the tech stuff but it always takes backseat to the gameplay experience :)
I agree. Not all hope is lost XD

Expecting a port that's up to the (already low) industry standards is not hypocritical.

And it was clear that much of the hype came from the prospect of a 1080p 60FPS Blighttown.

30FPS cap is bullshit, I get 40 on my old machine, though I do get spikes from time to time, I do enjoy the game a great deal, the free DLC, the extra areas, it's all fantastic, I love the game, warts and all.
And how come PC dedicated games don't get blasted this hard when they are even more buggy and crap than this hmm?

It doesn't change the fact that PC gamers will still be complaining about getting a superior version of the game, despite begging for the game.

There will be lagless Blighttown, it'll just be capped at 30fps. Why videophiles ***** about 30fps is beyond me, but regardless, it's still a superior version to the ~15fps that 360 gamers got.

Glad I haven't got any interest in this one. Sounds a hell of a lot like the Assassin's Creed port. Man, that one pissed me off. Total piece of crap.

That's called cutting off your nose to spite your face. You're going to miss out on a great game, just because you refuse to play a game at 30 fps, even though that's a perfectly playable framerate.

Also $600 is not that much for a PC.
I can run every console game i throw at my pc with 60 fps there is no reason i can only play this this one with only 30 fps.

I'm really fucking sick to the teeth with game developers behaviour towards PC releases.

They basically give us crap which they've spent the minimal amount of time on to get to the PC (read: put the time in to make it "run" on PC and nothing more) and then wonder why it doesn't sell well on PC!

You've released a game to a platform on which you've only invested the bare minimum of time and effort, which results in it not being optimised for the system, run badly and have poor support and it doesn't sell well?
No way! I wonder why it doesn't sell well. How baffling indeed!

If it was the other way round too, there'd be a bloody uproar. If you had a PC game ported to consoles, but it had no real multiplayer, only worked properly with a keyboard and mouse peripheral and ran supper badly and slow (because they hadn't taken time to optimise it for consoles) people just wouldn't buy that shit and people would complain. But no one would wonder why it's not going to do as well as on the PC.

But the other way round the answer to all this goes a little like this (I bet in the comments here too, but I haven't bothered reading): We gave you a game. It didn't sell well. PC piracy. End of story.
Herp f'ing Derp.

It's ridiculous and the reaction of devs and publishers is disgustingly moronic.
