HHhh, well, one of my favorites is Deus Ex: HR, and since I just listened to "The New Black Gold" again, it's gonna be my vote.

Portal 2 without question.
Why?

I'm honestly surprised with myself.

Here I was, all set to vote for Skyrim AGAIN, but then I noticed that one little game at the very bottom of the list and thought "Even Skyrim didn't give me more enjoyment than that game..."

So, in the name of the God Emperor, I declare my vote for Space Marine.

How has Assassin's Creed not gotten any votes?!
Brotherhood's singleplayer was really lacking, the multiplayer was good but not enough to make it stand out more, anything Revelations added was either useless or made the experience worse (FYI It wasn't a 10/10 all around release, in fact the average review was 7/10 so the price of the game dropped in release week to 40$). That and Brotherhood came out in late 2010, it's the PC port that came out 2011. Not to mention in terms of Single player the funnest thing is the platforming, everything else has been done better in other games like Batman Arkham City (which improved its gameplay from Asylum), which come to think of it is the only one I know that does.

I wonder how many of us would've picked Skyrim if it came out in January... It's just like the Oscars it seems.

I voted assassins Creed: Rev... Mainly because despite that the gameplay has changed little throughout the whole Ezio saga... It's still awesome...

That, and, the story is still quite interesting, although I haven't finished Rev. yet so, I still can't say if it hasn't made the "mistake" yet...

But there were so many! Saints Row The Third, Infamous 2, Portal 2, Bastion, Terraria...

Because Revelations blew goats. They finally crammed in so much other stuff, that they forgot the essentials of their assassination sandbox game. Tower defense? First person geometric platforming? Backstory revealed through boring exposition rather than gameplay like everything else in the series? Cart battles? What is all this nonsense, I ask you. While Altair was perfect, and Ezio's story was well done, the game would actually be better if they had left Desmond's sections out of the game. And to think I bought that instead of Skyward Sword or Skyrim...bah.

Someone help me here, I picked Portal 2 because, you know, it was really good.
But I never played the original Portal so I went back and played it and I say that I don't see the praise, Portal 2 is miles better by my standards. I BELIEVE that the only reason they say Portal is better than Portal 2 is because a sequel would never live up to their standards.
Anyone else have the same opinion?

I can't pick between Serious Sam 3, Portal 2, or L.A. Noire. Fast paced action and humor, puzzles and humor, or snazzy detective work and puzzles.
Which to pick, which to pick.
Well, I could pick Duke Nukem Forever as a joke...
Of course, not that it really matters. Even if I saw the results and none of the bars had titles next to them, I'd look at the biggest bar and say "Yep, there's Skyrim."
EDIT: I finally decided on L.A. Noire. That game was fantastic.

skyrim will win, deus ex was better.

skyrim was fantastic, and ive put twice as many hours in it as deus ex, but deus ex is probably my favorite game i have ever played. it meshes with how i like to play games so much its glorious. skyrim is a close second for me personally though.

Is there NO love for Uncharted 3? In my opinion it's a fantastic game albeit not a significant upgrade from previous entries from the franchise. However, why break wasn't isn't broken?

To be honest though, I picked Uncharted over Portal 2 by a coin flip and several other games were very close as well right behind those such as Deus Ex and Resistance 3 (which is conspicuously missing from this list btw.) .
It's practically the same game as uncharted 2. it's only a good game because uncharted 2 was a good game. I love the uncharted series, but the safeness of the series kills it for a lot of people, at when talking GOTY material. it's the same reason why gears of war 3 isn't do so well either.

Give Escapist users some credit - our memories aren't that short.

PC-gamers will be playing Skyrim until TES VI in 5-6 years, if Morrowind and Oblivion are anything to go by. Those games weren't quickly forgotten. Besides, we'd be approaching expansion-pack time had it been released in January :)
