Oh yeah, you bet they're removing habitual quitters from the MP experience!

...for fifteen minutes.

seriously people, gather more information before you post something like this. Everyone on bungie's forum knows that it's only 15 minutes for habitual quitters. It was first tested in the beta, and it's been talked about in past weekly updates.

This particular forum is no longer available, but on the beta feedback forum, there were threads dedicated to feedback on it's various features. One of those was a "quit ban/timeout feedback" thread, and it had all the information pertaining to how the quit ban works. I also believe it's detailed in a bungie weekly update from a few months back.

This is for the people who say, what if my connection or something happens that my internet disconnects, do you get a ban, the answer is no. It will detect if it was a real quit or it was an internet problem that got you removed from the lobby.

This part is for people saying, what if someone calls me and I need to answer or what if I need to go eat, You shouldn't be playing at that time that you need to leave.. If someone is calling you, then say you will call back since your playing, if you don't know what your getting into when you start playing a match, don't play at all.

They are doing this for the people who want to play Halo the way it's even not 1v5. They are doing it for you, not to hurt you. I had this problem with quitters, I am over joyed that this is happening.

Yep, I love when games deny me access to content I paid for. That's so considerate. /sarcasm

It's honestly a dick move, I have a right to leave. We'll have to see how many times you quit before you're denied access, but I have a feeling this will not be taken well.
You paid for the game, you accept the rules of the game when you sign up for Xbox LIVE. That is a punishment for being a baby.

You have a right to leave, that's why they put the quit button. But if you want to quit because you don't like your team, boo hoo, it's an online game. You ruin other peoples online experience and I know a lot of people hate you people who leave because you suck.

^ well that definitely is attention grabbing! xD

But i think the idea of this is pretty good, being only a 15 minute ban. To be honest, if you have to quit a game so many times to go do something, then you probably shouldnt be playing online at that time anyways. And if your connection is so bad you keep losing connection, then, well, you probably shouldnt be playing online at that time anyways.

I think its a perfect balance between catering to those that quit because of legit reasons and punishing those that are interferring with everyone elses' online experience.

Its completely fair for them to try to do this .... I on the other hand think its completely fair for me to ignore any of their games, including Halo Reach

My points have already been answered directly, but the escapist article or it's direct source gave no detail of the planned rules for the system so don't go thinking people didn't/don't have an excuse for not knowing they have been explained in detail before on a non-linked site/article months ago.

If I said I'm making a program that will automatically kill spawn campers after 3 kills and ban them for doing it 1000 times and months later someone only post I said"Our program bans spawn campers fir repeated use" It's true but out of context and missing loads of info no one would see without searching for it. Like what happened here.

I think it's hilarious how everyone freaks out. If you quit too much you sit out. If you don't want to sit out, don't quit.

My problem is that it's page 14 when this was explained on page 1.
In all fairness that big thing on page one was edited in by Vrex around page 5. Granted it was still answered on page one [sub](By me.)[/sub] but it was easy to miss.

Ok, there's still 9 pages where there was no excuse. The reason I gave credit to him was simple, it was huge, and he went and found a BWU from May.
You mean the update I linked to in my post? You know, before him. (Yes I will be vain about this) Or do you mean the other one I sent him in an email?

Seriously though the Huge bold letters were a good idea. I would have never thought of that. He deserves a lot of credit for trying to "educate" people.

Again, people leaving a game a few times because of unexpected reasons(networking, etc) is not the people targeted with this. In Halo 3 we had de-rankers, players quiting to loose exp in order to play lower ranked players to grief them. Those are the kind of people getting targeted. Your're not going to be given a one-way ticket to Banadu because of 30 quit matches in a half a year.

I don't understand why they don't work at the source of the problem rather than trying to punish people for dropping out of the game. Quitters aren't the only ones who unbalance a game. People who might need to drop out to use the bathroom, or people with spotty connections aren't being malicious if they drop.

They should just add bots, or the next time someone kills a member of the team with fewer members they get swapped to the other team.

I would think it would be very difficult to determine someone who is just rage quitting and someone who has something pressing to do right at that moment. This just seems disastrous.
LEARN TO FUCKING READ!!!!! Sorry, but it's for CONSTANT, HABITUAL QUITTING!!!!

Oh everyone it's Cool, Bungie is just trying out what Blizzard did with putting out a statement 1st to stir up concern before actually deciding weither or not to use it for the betterment of the user-base.

If not(Which I'd be surprized if it actually was Blizzard's plan.) hopefully the "Quiting to much bans" will be temporary. like day-1 4 quits=fine day-2 3 quits=ok day-3 1 quit= 8th quit this weak a warning apon reactivating multipler warning of 3 more quits this week before 2 day removal or something or 10 times in one day. gets you a week long ban or something repeat offenders get extended times.

Becuase if they don't consider connection lost a form of quiting it could become the new way to do it they'd just have to pull the cord/turn off the system or unplug the router and etc.
It's a 15 - 30 minute band for HABITUAL QUITTING!

Oh great, it is like all those L4D server mods and douche bags that think that everyone that quits is a "rage quitter". Half the time in L4D2 I lose interest after a map or two, and you know, I have a life and have to eat, go to work, and stuff so I can't always sick around for the entire game...

As has been mentioned before.
IF YOU QUIT OCCASIONALY YOU WILL NOT BE PENALISED.
IF YOU QUIT TEN TIMES IN A ROW WITHIN HALF AN HOUR(give or take) YOU BE GIVEN A 15 MINUTE TIMEOUT.
THIS WILL EXTEND OR DECREASE DEPENDING ON IF YOU CONTINUE TO QUIT.
LEARN TO MANAGE TIME PROPERLY. IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT BE INTERRUPTED IN THE NEXT 15 MINUTES DONT START A RANKED MATCH.

Also to quote bungie:
"If you quit because of an internet problem we wont ban you. If it happens multiple times in the same day/couple of day, then maybe you should contact your internet provider while waiting for the ban to be up"
Not that I don't believe you (or will be affected since not getting Reach) but, where in the article or source we're these details mentioned?
READ VREX360'S POST ON THE FIRST PAGE! IT QUOTES THE ENTIRE GORRAM WEEKLY UPDATE THIS WAS ANNOUNCED IN IN MAY!!!

What, they basically ban people for not playing their game???

Rage quitting or not, this is bullshit. There is virtually no way of differentiating people who genuinely quit for legitimate reasons and those who quit just to irritate people. Such a system should most certainly not implemented.

They're going to implement a system that punishes people for quitting the game?

Uhh... that's mildly retarded.

No thanks Bungie.

Well, I think it's about time that quitters are punished. And to all of you complaining that you have to leave games or don't have sufficient skill to continue the game. They did state that it would be targeted against people who quit in "moderation" or often.

Bungie's label has become less than it once was already. Withholding content from the majority of their fan base and denying play time to a community of gamers already denied play time due to a terrible piece of machinery doesn't bode well.

For one of the figureheads in FPS history, I think Halo is going out with a 'bloop'.

Thank you Silver Patriot. Admittedly though I still owe both you and Grey Focks for finding those articles to link to my huge page so yes, credit goes to both of you guys too.
