Its not hard to cheat with this thing. It acts like any other pedometer. You can shake it a couple times to get yourself a single watt. Granted, you'd have to shake it till your arm got tired just to get 10 watts but still, its not foolproof.

Step one: Attach pokewalker to my dog.
Step two: Let my dog out in the back yard.
Step three: Rake in them Watts baby.

Also my job requires I move around on my feet all day, so I could just wear it to work.
Some folks are doing it.

Me personally I have a right leg that likes to shake for hours. I just taped the pokewalker to that leg.

I had shook my leg over 10k times during work today. Nearly 20k. (according to the device)

I reckon Nintendo's attempts at forcing a fit nerd is annoying at best, just give us one old those old timey oscillation things while we play dammit!

I actually have attached the Pokewalker to my pant leg near the foot when I play the drums on Rock Band. Already have 21000 steps in two days.

At least now I have a reason to stop being lazy and hopping on the bus on campus to go down the street.

And, no, InsaneLaughter, you were not the only one.

Prefix 'Ped-' means to walk, hence pedestrian, the suffix '-ometer' is a measuring device, hence speedometer, and ergo pedometer. Pedo means child, and phile, i've no idea, fondler maybe...

In response to someone elses post, i cant be bothered to find

Good stuff :). DDR and Wii Fit here helping me with my steps.

I've only had the game for two days and already I find myself more active. I'm such a gullible boob...but a slowly healthier boob at least.

Does pedometer mean something different in pokemon culture or what? because I'm getting a very different image here.
Pedal - Something you work with your foot.
Pedestrian - Someone who travels by foot.
Pediatrist - A doctor specialising in feet.

As opposed to paedophile and paediatrics. Aren't you glad those of us in the Commonwealth came up with a way to differentiate the two.

I'm thinking I can build some Lego contraption to shake it continuously.

I've got a Lego motor that can turn continuously in either direction.

Duct tape it to the inside of a paint shaker. Problem solved.

Another idea, duct tape it to you car's wheel and drive around for a while.
Better yet, attach it to the piston in your engine :D

How did no one else post this yet?

On topic: I think this is a great idea. I'm already taking mine to the gym every day.

I personally like this thing a lot. Had my friend laughing at me for it, partly because the idea is absurd that it actually takes that much to unlock. Regardless, its a nice free pedometer with bonuses that'll make sure I don't forget it at home all the time.

Anyone who walks around specifically to unlock stuff for that little gizmo is, to put it bluntly, stupid. The point is that you just clip it on as you wander through the days, and stuff will acumulate over time. Yes, it's also an incentive to exercise, but I really doubt that anyone will by the game because it rewards you for exercising.

my total steps so far 17872. total watts 906. Thats just from an average day. six hours of working at mcdonalds combined with a short walk through my neighborhood. 1000 miles doesnt sound that difficult to me.

Well really, it involes the watts as ive seen, and your pokemon finds watts sometimes in the poke walker, so 1000 miles wont be that hard if you think about it.

Interesting idea, but I still don't want a new pokemon. Not enough has changed to want me to buy it.
