I want Obsidian to make the next Elder Scrolls game

I'll whole-heartedly disagree about Obsidian making a TES game. Elder Scrolls has ALWAYS been Bethesda's baby, and I think you'll never see them go out and hand the keys for another studio to take a spin with it. At MOST, I think you'd see them maybe bring in Obsidian to work on a piece of DLC or something, but a whole game? Most assuredly not.

Quality control aside, I will actually give Obsidian credit (shock, it seems) in that their stories and execution of them aren't bad at all on a generalized level, and pretty good on a gaming level. That said, TES is a beast on the Lore side of things, and it isn't like Star Wars where it's a general IP that a studio can propose a game for; Bethesda made and own TES as an IP, so they know it better than anyone.

Hmmmm, Bethesda, as in Awesome games with a ton of midly annoying bugs...
Obsidian, screwing up sequels since KOTOR2 with a metric **ckton of machine freezing bugs...

No!
Blame Lucasarts, not Obsidian.Lucasarts forced Obsidian to release KotOR II in time for the holidays. The game had a 13-month development cycle, yet it was so much better than KotOR I ever was, with the proper balancing mods, and after you restore the cut content Lucasarts derped the team into leaving out.I have no idea what 'machine freezing bug' you speak of,but Obsidian has some wonderful ideas, and deserve more attention. That said,if Obsidian does an Elder Scrolls game,it should be a spinoff game.I want the Elder Scrolls proper to stay distinctly Bethesdan.

Not known for it's story? You are kidding right? They've been VASTLY immersive with the story since Morrowind, and they keep getting better. There is no reason Obsidian should touch Elder Scrolls, nor is it forgivable that they put that shit-stain that was New-Vegas across Bethesda's good name.
Seriously? I played Morrowind plenty, I know the story. It was alright I thought, but the means by which it was told I found poor, the dialogue was stilted, and frankly I just didn't think it was that good to begin with. Still it was serviceable and I liked reading the books throughout the game and reading up on the lore. The best stories in Morrowind however were the ones you created yourself. Oblivion meanwhile... hell I can't even remember the plot. Something about Captn Picards son trying to save the world from demons? I don't know, it was entirely forgettable and boring in my mind. I never completed the main quest, never felt the need.

Besides, if Obsidian 'put that shit-stain' across Fallout it's their right. Bethesda bought Fallout, they didn't create it, whereas many of the people working in Obsidian DID. Feargus Urquhart, Darren Monahan, Chris Avellone, hell Tim 'freakin created Fallout' Cain works for Obsidian these days.

Not to mention I was agreeing with you, I don't want Obsidian to make an Elder Scrolls game. Or did you simply stop reading when you found out I dislike the Elder Scrolls story?

Its gotta be Bethesda dude, sorry but they know how to suck you into a game, whereas Obsidian don't...(New vegas was 'Meh' at best in my opinion).

There's only one way to settle this, A TF2 tournament between both of them....

My vote is on Bethesda, they have dragons :3

I love Bethesda. The problems that plague their games fly right past me, and I enjoy everything that they... develop.

However, I want more elder scrolls. There are so many more regions to see, and in my opinion, the engine setup for Skyrim is good enough for me. So I want to see them pump out more Elder Scrolls games! I don't really care for Obsidian, but I really did enjoy Fallout New Vegas, in some ways more than Fallout 3. But if they announce that Bethesda and Obsidian will do annual Elder Scrolls games every two years, I'll be a happy camper. That way I think we will see all of those regions that we have been dying to explore for years! And we wont have to wait 5 years every region.
No.

They have a record for making shit be broken or next to unplayable... -points at NV- while you can cry BUGS BROKE MAH SKYRIM...no...I havent seen anything terrible...a couple of odd things here and there...but Christ...while New Vegas was good..it also.....sorry needed to restart my console because it MOTHERFUCKING FROZE AGAIN!

Now it would be sall good if Obsidian made Fallout 4....but I dont want to see Elder Scrolls every year...much like a fine wine...it must sit and be waited upon...one must wait and enjoy the final flavor..etc etc etc....

From everything i've been reading on some true rpg sites, (not one's like this filled with 12 year old Beth fangirls), is that Skyrim is better than Oblivious, but not as good as Morrowind.
Funny you mention that, if you'd go back to the codex (or wherever you crawled out of where using phrases like "12 year old Beth fangirls" isn't considered laughably childish) everyone would probably appreciate it. Might be worth looking into.

Nope, me needs me some Fallout, and a Bethesda Fallout at that. New Vegas wasn't bad, but didn't cut it for me after playing Fallout 3, and I love Fallout.

No, No, No. No.

Obsidian don't make good games, they have great ideas for games that they then butcher. Obsidian should be allowed to do the concept for the next ES game, but then that concept should be handed to a more competent Developer.

Gonna have to agree here, (Duke Nukem Forever aside). This poor idea of "More games = better" has become rampant and ridiculous. Honestly, I think the console idiots & CoD / Madden are to blame (bigger number every 6 months to a year and 'OMG ITS THE BEST THING EVER *Retarded console user slobber*). And where did you (Aimed at ovoon here) get "every 2 years" from? It's been, what, 4 years since Oblivion? 5? The reason Skyrim is such great quality is because they took their time on it and gave the community what they wanted by occasionally making Oblivion better by adding good quality DLC (minus the ripoff horse armor) while they perfected (minus occasional bug/glitch which is to be expected) Skyrim. Pump out more games quicker and you will lose fan-base not only because the games not be as in-depth or great quality, but no-one will have enough time to truly enjoy them because your pumping out more half-assed games every few years.
I am offended sir! -slaps you with a glove- I dont think its fair to put that judgement only towards console users, games like modern warfare have a massive following on the pc aswell and the madden games never sell that amazingly well, I have never bought a modern warfare game in my life and the only fps games i have are bioshock 1 & 2

The problem I have with Obsidian is that they're games are usually full of bugs. They seriously need to bring up their quality control to a reasonable standard. But as far as their actual game design and story writing goes it's quite good.
This. Obsidian is a travesty of a developer. If they aren't ruining sequels (New Vegas, KOTOR 2). New Vegas was fun when it worked, which was mostly just at the beginning.

Apparently they just brought on a guy who used to work with an old big developer (Black Isle? I can't recall), so maybe they'll finally get their shit together.

NO.

JUST.

NO.

I read the title, and that was all I needed.

TES is Bethesda's game series. In no way should Obsidian come in. They will ruin it.

Now, let's say it again...

Maybe, but it was a far more interesting story with deeper philosophical and political questions that KOTOR 1 ever offered to you. KOTOR 1 focused almost entirely around the big twist. KOTOR 2 was a lot more subtle and a lot deeper.
Kreia was an excellent character and really intriguing, but the rest was horrible. I couldn't bear repeat playthroughs of KOTOR 2, not because of the cut content and bugs, but because the pacing is horrendous. It took how long until you actually got some half-decent free reign (i.e. the ability to pick a planet), and of the places you could go, how come so much is out in the boonies with nobody to talk to? With KOTOR, I actually felt like I was interacting with the world; with KOTOR 2, I only felt like was interacting with my companions, only one of whom actually had anything interesting to say.

Would be interesting... regardless of what you think of Obsidian's actual games, since most of them were unfinished messes, you must agree that they have a knack for interesting stories and characters, better than almost any RPG developer currently developing IMO, which is one of the big problems I have with Bethesda games... they're huge and open ended but so damn unfocused and just hard to really play through...

You do know that with all the ex Black Isle staff they already have, that they're pretty well BI reborn already. As for 'ruining sequels' considering KOTOR II had more depth in its plot than KOTOR could ever hope for and F:NV had more choice and consequence in one area than FO3 had in its entire game I'd say they improve a sequel more than ruin it.

But hey, maybe I'm just an old shit who liked a real Fallout instead of a wasteland sim with the name Fallout Stamped on it. Oh look I can use hyperbole too

No. Bethesda's gotten better at quality control with Skyrim. Obsidian has not.

Obsidian is not that great a developer... if they had great stories and characters, they'd have finished stories.

They make big promises but they don't deliver... I'm kinda tired of hearing them mentioned as 'great developers' when they don't have something complete and great under their belt in the past ten years.
