Haruhi forbid we leave a bit of ambiguity in our adverts to entice people in!Keldon888 said:Whiplash uses whips, which limits his posters to 3 things, no weapons at all, arms out with whips down(as seen) and an action shot considering you can't wrap an energy whip around yourself like a real whip. And considering no weapons would leave most people clueless as to who the hell that is,
Yeah I remembered seeing all those newspaper clippings in the background of the Warrior Within cover...wait what?Schlorgan said:Looks EXACTLY like the cover of Warrior Within
yeah i think maybe you should limit Funk's network access for a bit, redirect his youtube videos to Marvel stuff or somethingVirgil said:Comic Book Fail. That's not Iron Man.
That's Mickey Rourke, playing Whiplash. And looking very awesome.
I'm not going to lie. There ARE similarities but they're not GLARINGLY so. I wouldn't go so far as to saying as it's a "rip off".Susan Arendt said:Depends -- did you do your hair the same way and are you wearing clothes like mine?deadaim6 said:But...you can't exactly say that the style is being ripped off when it's been done so many times before. To be quite honest, I don't understand why this is being made such a big problem. If I stood next to you doing the exact same pose as you were, would I really be copying you, or just sharing a style that I like and think would be well liked by others?Susan Arendt said:It's not just the pose that's similar, but the look of the hair and costume, as well. No-one is suggesting that the character himself was ripping off PoP, just the styling of the poster.
Nobody's making a big deal out of it. We thought it was interesting, we decided to share.
I mean his posture and his haircut lolAceDiamond said:Yeah I remembered seeing all those newspaper clippings in the background of the Warrior Within cover...wait what?Schlorgan said:Looks EXACTLY like the cover of Warrior Within
And that's the whole point of the discussion. Funk's suggestion of "conspiracy" is nothing more than a lighthearted joke. We really just wanted to see if anyone else saw a resemblance.deadaim6 said:I'm not going to lie. There ARE similarities but they're not GLARINGLY so. I certainly hope so as far as the inevitable game tie-in is concerned. The game for Iron Man was a pile of crap on top of a pile of vomit.CantFaketheFunk said:It's hard to imagine that this is coincidental, seeing how the two images look so very alike. Does this mean that Iron Man 2 will have improved combat, but a overall darker and grittier atmosphere and out-of-place heavy metal soundtrack featuring Godsmack that ultimately isn't very well-received by the fanbase resulting in a third installment that gets back to the more fantastic, lighthearted tone of the first game? Er, movie?
Iron Mal said:Of course, because Prince of Persia was the only thing in the history of cover design to have a protaganist/antagonist facing the camera with heavy shading and an intimidating look.CantFaketheFunk said:Iron Man or Whiplash, doesn't change the image itself being a pretty clear copy
Other examples being:
The cover from the Xbox 360 version of Age of Conan, one of the Underworld films did it, many comics from Marvel and DC have done this (along with a fair number of the AVP comics), Batman: Arkham Asylem, Terminator 1 and 2 did this (although in both they were more centred towards medium close up shots that entire body shots), The Thing, Evil Dead: Fistfull of Boomstick and Evil Dead Armies of Darkness along with many more.
