This ... really doesn't help me in any way.
They said before that it will at no point be mandatory to actually kill a human enemy and if that's still true it lends hope to the flexibility and story focus a MG title needs.
But I don't know, MGS has always been lightning in a bottle. I'm never quite sure how they manage to make such gripping climaxes and stories (and it's something apart from the cutscenes, I still haven't decided if they could do without the ridiculous length, maybe it gives it weight?) and far more to do with the final boss fight in MGS4 and the microwave corridor and the dogtags in MGS2.
And also with the sheer variety of approaches. Boss fights like with the Fatman and with Psycho Mantis and the Octopus lady.
And well, Platinum games have never managed to give a game such mixing of gameplay and story or being so unique and not about the core combat mechanic. But to my knowledge they haven't really attempted it. So there really doesn't seem to be a way to tell until it comes out
