With that out of the way, GO LulzSec! I fucking hate Sony, and use nothing they make, other than a dvd-drive. If Sony learns their lesson about picking fights they can't win, or the Hackers get caught, it's all good and entertaining where I'm sitting.

I don't know why Sony doesn't get it's act together. It's customers are sick and tired of being under attack by a group of computer geeks with nothing better to do, and eventually they will defect to buying products from other companies. A friend of mine had to cancel his credit cards after the initial attacks and he is uncertain as to whether he wants to buy any Sony products online again. I don't agree with what the hackers are doing at all, in fact, this is becoming extremely tiresome, so why doesn't Sony get off their asses to protect their investment? It just baffles me.

There's no way Sony just continued using shitty security at this point. I think these hackers are just really good and are pissed off and think they are above the law.

They have to be stopped. Is every corporation going to have to please these people or have their customer's personal info and company secrets compromised?

It can't be too hard for the FBI to figure which websites or services they use and shut them down to investigate. Sure it would be inconvenient but what they're doing is already illegal AND inconvenient.

I would normally agree with that last part, only, LulzSec hacked the FBI fairly easily last week, and repelled several attempts of vigilantes trying to hack their own site. These are some skilled assholes we're dealing with, only making matters worse that some people are actually giving them donations for what they're doing.

To quote the latest Extra Credits: "If anonymous (or in this case, LulzSec) wanted to marshal its resources to engage in credit card theft or fraud, God help us all." I hope they never go this far, but with humans being the greedy bastards they are, it will almost certainly happen in the near future, if not by the whole organization, than splinter groups.

I couldn't have said it better. My original point was just going to be about how I'm tired of being in the middle of all this hacker vs. corporation bullshit but you provided something bigger; a larger perspective of how much this is kicking the asses of so many more victims. Why does this "argument" keep being brought up? It has been obvious from the very beginning that this group of hackers doesn't care about the customers. The fact that customers are affected by their hacks is just collateral damage that they really don't give two hoots about.

I support not so much the group, but the repercussions of their actions. Hopefully this will make it clear that the internet is not separate from the "real world". It's about time all companies, not just game/console developers, understand that the internet can and does have power.

Making a cruel example out of a company that clearly does not want to learn its lesson is a way to bring this point across.

This guy makes a good point. If being dicks AND being bad at securing your systems is made horrifically expensive, then companies will either invest in proper security or stop being dicks.
