I just hope they can find a genuinely productive use for thier abilities in the future instead of just messing around all the time. maybe all this confidence building will amount to something. unfortunately, it probably won't, and they'll just end up crossing some line and getting themselves caught. all i see is wasted potential.
Plenty more fish in the sea.

1 - Obligatory wish that these guys would just shut the fuck up and that the Feds would get them already.

2 - Observation: The "Laughing Man" of Ghost in the Shell fame is now real.

I think we should pool our money to hire ninja-assassins to kill these bastards.
You may be able to hack a website, but you can't hack a Ninja!

But really, to hells with these fuckers(the hackers, that is). I wish these people nothing but ill. I hope these guys lose their freedom and spend the rest of their life behind bars!

There's no way Sony just continued using shitty security at this point. I think these hackers are just really good and are pissed off and think they are above the law.

They have to be stopped. Is every corporation going to have to please these people or have their customer's personal info and company secrets compromised?

It can't be too hard for the FBI to figure which websites or services they use and shut them down to investigate. Sure it would be inconvenient but what they're doing is already illegal AND inconvenient.
I would normally agree with that last part, only, LulzSec hacked the FBI fairly easily last week, and repelled several attempts of vigilantes trying to hack their own site. These are some skilled assholes we're dealing with, only making matters worse that some people are actually giving them donations for what they're doing.

To quote the latest Extra Credits: "If anonymous (or in this case, LulzSec) wanted to marshal its resources to engage in credit card theft or fraud, God help us all." I hope they never go this far, but with humans being the greedy bastards they are, it will almost certainly happen in the near future, if not by the whole organization, than splinter groups.

It takes a special type of asshole to actively want a company that keeps thousands of people employed to collapse.

So to all of you who want Sony to fall purely because of some juvenile agenda or misplaced sense of nobility, then I say this to you; you are truly a pathetic human being.

The laughing man had a reasonable agenda though. These guys are just pricks.

This is just beyond sad and pathetic now. Sony is officially a bad joke. Lucky for them, this story will be buried under constant E3 updates.

Somebody should have a "Can YOU Hack Sony?" booth at E3 where you win giant stuffed animals for hacking their abysmally poor systems.

I know, right? Just because some high ranking dicks made some lousy calls on their end (what major company honestly hasn't?) doesn't mean that the entire company should have to suffer for it.

I've lost all my respect for Hackers now. I used to support groups like Anonymous, but now all these stupid hackers have made me doubt in the possibility that ANY hacker can be actually justifiable.

so the goal here is to bring down a company, not just any company, but one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers and Japan's largest international Corporation, a nation that desperately needs international confidence in it's products, services and exports to maintain an economy so battered by the recent earthquake that it's still teetering on the edge of oblivion, not to mention the thousands employed by sony all over the world, the retailers who sell their products and the consumers that enjoy them and the thousands of developers who work with them, the actors, directors and film crews who work with sony pictures, the locations that benefit from having them make movies there, the manufacturers who make parts for sony. thanks LulzSuck, for screwing not only one "souless" corporation, but the millions of people who depend on them to survive, directly or indirectly, the struggling economy of japan, and the millions who will suffer the indignity of layoffs all because you pricks wanted a few laughs, and you have the gall to call sony selfish? Fuck you LulzSuck, kiss my nads, you greasy, socially inept attention whoring motherfuckers.
I couldn't have said it better. My original point was just going to be about how I'm tired of being in the middle of all this hacker vs. corporation bullshit but you provided something bigger; a larger perspective of how much this is kicking the asses of so many more victims. I just wish it would all be done and over.
I'm sick of all of these annoying hacking groups and though I would love to see Sony get their shit together (It needs to happen, enough said.) I would also love to one day hear that all these bastards did time and got their griefing asses sued off.

Does anyone actually think these HAckers are working for the customers benefit? I mean didn't they ask for Donations?
Why does this "argument" keep being brought up? It has been obvious from the very beginning that this group of hackers doesn't care about the customers. The fact that customers are affected by their hacks is just collateral damage that they really don't give two hoots about.

I support not so much the group, but the repercussions of their actions. Hopefully this will make it clear that the internet is not separate from the "real world". It's about time all companies, not just game/console developers, understand that the internet can and does have power.

Making a cruel example out of a company that clearly does not want to learn its lesson is a way to bring this point across.
This guy makes a good point. If being dicks AND being bad at securing your systems is made horrifically expensive, then companies will either invest in proper security or stop being dicks.

So this is what it would be like to be corpse camped irl. Cmon guys I'm pretty sure if Sony drops the ps Apple will fill the power vacuum with another console. I'm not comfortable with that. Leave em alone already.

You know, guys, some of us are still sore about Betamax [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betamax].

Sony's super-dickery extends far deeper than how they've treated PSN members, or GeoHot or plenty of their other properties, and it's been made clear that the execs at Sony just don't learn.

Probably because, unless something bites their faces off, they just don't care.

The truth of the matter is, Sony's had it coming for a long time, and the sooner Sony becomes a name spoken of only in cautionary tales, the sooner we all get a better, brighter, more consumer-friendly company to take its place.

Sony needs to become that name we use to warn others about taking their customer base for granted. No, we need to patch out these bugs fast. We are not the next Sony.

For the betterment of the world, Sony needs to die.

This is just like any fight, if you hit someone hard enough to knock them on their ass and then keep on kicking them when they're down there isn't much they can do to defend themselves as they don't get the breathing room to fight back, that's Sony's problem and it could happen to absolutely anyone.

These hackers are just a bunch of nolife fucktards with superiority complexes, they may claim to be hacking Sony 'for the greater good' but in reality all they're doing is inflating their egos by attacking a business that is currently crippled.

Short sighted and "we mess them up so they treat us better" logic make me lose faith in humanity, or at least the moral reasoning of my fellow gamers/net dwellers to whom i'm grouped with.

Oh. By the by. If anyone is wondering why the source code being stolen is such a big deal...

It means that people can modify their PS3 and still access the PSN. Expect sudden influx of people with infinite ammo, aimbotting, and god moding on the PS3 multiplayer.

Lulzsec... you so crazy!

Seriously though I am surprised Sony still have their collective heads up their ass when it comes to security.

Why?! What reason do they have to keep hacking Sony? They aren't even trying to steal anything, they're just doing it for attention!

I anyone quotes me and says 'for the lulz', I will say very nasty things to that person.

When I treat my fellow individuals poorly, I get treated poorly in return. That's not some moral failing on the part of others, it's basic social interaction. When a corporation shows consistent disregard for its customers, why should they be exempt from the same fundamental consequence?

Bringing up the Japanese earthquake is simply retarded. One doesn't get a free pass for poor customer treatment because of a natural disaster in the country of origin. That's just bizarre.
