Dear sony:
you are going to continue to be the target of every wannabe hacker gang until you do more than put a little bandaid on the problem. Either chop off the arm and deal with it, or scald it closed. Either way you are scared for life.

Why?! What reason do they have to keep hacking Sony? They aren't even trying to steal anything, they're just doing it for attention!
for the lulz

Seriously though, they are just making an example of them. This tells the corporate world a very clear message: Mind the Internet.

At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if they hack Sony during their E3 conference.
I'm kindof hoping for it. Just to have a laugh at to see nyah cat or something random appear like troll face appear saying "Problem sony?" but really hope it doesn't happen cause that would be rude.

Sony really is showing off an exceptional level of incompetance these days. They completely revamped security to what? Adaware firewall?

Although I have pity for Sony customers, I have absolutely NONE for Sony. Seriuosly, it's been MONTHS now that they've been under attack and they STILL can't get their security up and running?

I know I won't be spending any money on Sony products until they can prove that they can handle their own security. Who knows when they will be.

But on the other hand, constantly hacking Sony is really a douche-move. Hell, I would like to see the effects all this has on their profits this/next year. I mean seriously, give it a break, it's just annoying now.
You do realize they are trying to bring down Sony right? They might be doing it for the lulz but they are also doing it with a purpose. They WANT Sony's profits to crumble, they WANT for people to feel unsafe using Sony products.
You try building an impenatrible wall when every five minutes a group of people wail on it with sledgehammers and pick axes.

I can just imagine it, "There is a lot to expect from Sony this coming year" *behind him on the screen is this picture*

I would lol my head off it that happened, the hackers are kind of doing customers and Sony a favour by hacking them customers know how unsafe it is and holes in their security is pointed out and can be fixed.

Well at least they're hacking the correct division of Sony this time. That said, they need to cut this shit out. It's like throwing a rock through your neighbor's windows and acting like they're bad people for not investing in shatter-proof glass. Meanwhile, every other house on the block stays un-harassed despite having the SAME GODDAMN GLASS WINDOWS. The only reason Sony looks any worse than any other company right now is because these fuckers keep doing shit for fun. I think we get it at this point, assholes, they need to upgrade their security. How about laying off for a bit while they fucking do that?

QFT. They could probably pick any other company out of a hat right now and do the same thing to them. Sony's just the one in the crosshairs. Customers were safe before all these hackers started pulling shit to make a point. I mean, the first big breach was just angry hackers trying to make a point right? If their security was so bad, why wasn't the first hack done by criminals trying to steal money? Why is it that the only danger Sony is in is from pricks trying to prove how in danger they are?

Ah yes, the voice of reason. At least, you would be if LulzSec was hacking Sony to 'show the flaws in their security'. LulzSec describe themselves as...

Lulz Security® (LulzSec), the world's leaders in high-quality entertainment at your expense
Not only are they aware that they're only hurting the customers...That's their entire motivation!

This is upsetting now.... simply upsetting. I'm a customer of SOE MMOs and now i have my info put at risk every single day, I'm in danger, I'm the victim of this.

I've done nothing to deserve it... nothing.

it also completely stuns me how so many can not grasp the full impact of what's going on here. The lack of compassion, the lack of understanding, it's getting kinda scary now, and I'm worried about gamers as a whole.

This will not, and has no turned me against Sony and it never will. Beating on the hostages is not how you make a point.

If Sony goes down do you think they will stop there?

Nintendo, Xbox and the bastion of nerd love...Steam.

Who will be laughing then? Will everyone still be laughing at all?

From what I understand, (one of) the motive of LulzSec is to "take down" Sony. Given these recent attacks to follow through on it, I think I have an opinion of what's going on here.

War.

LulzSec is waging digital war on Sony, launching attack after attack in an attempt to get Sony out of the picture. These aren't just some kids poking at files for fun, they are trying to force Sony out of the market by ruining their reputation with these cyber attacks, and if that doesn't work I wouldn't find more meaningful attacks against Sony surprising. Imagine if, instead of swiping info from the PSN, they deleted info from PSN, or took other steps to meaningfully damage Sony's data, we could be looking at the early steps of what a true digital war looks like, even if it's not between countries as we understand them in the physical world.

Just my 2 cents, probably crazy, for all that's known these could just be kiddies poking fun at a corporation, but who knows for sure...

When I treat my fellow individuals poorly, I get treated poorly in return. That's not some moral failing on the part of others, it's basic social interaction. When a corporation shows consistent disregard for its customers, why should they be exempt from the same fundamental consequence?

Bringing up the Japanese earthquake is simply retarded. One doesn't get a free pass for poor customer treatment because of a natural disaster in the country of origin. That's just bizarre.
Are you seriously saying Sony is the worst offender of what you say? Is this really how you justify the massive damage these hackings have done?

Your metaphor doesn't apply as it's not just treating the person badly in turn (as in, speaking with your wallet and never buying from the company again) but going to their house, stealing and messing up their stuff and actively trying to ruin their life.

Bringing up the Japanese earthquake isn't retarded nor is it a free pass, it's awareness of context, which one should have before pronoucing such decisive judgements on a company of this scale, or any scale really.

Edit: Also if we are going to start introducing psychology, look up kohlbergs stages of moral reasoning. I think it's rather relevant to the stance you're agreeing with ¬¬

Awesome picture.

But yeah, this is getting beyond stupid now, yes Sony need to beef up security on their sites, we get that, but this is just a dick move by these hackers that will probably end with them getting hacked.

Does anyone actually think these HAckers are working for the customers benefit? I mean didn't they ask for Donations?
They got a huge donation from some guy earlier today. 7200$
$7200............ Dear lord.

This is only going to get worse.

Is there anyone else that thinks that might have been from Microsoft or Nintendo?

Ugh bored now, Lulsec are so late to the party they're like the people who still think the Cake is a Lie is funny.

Hacking Sony isn't even impressive anymore it's like suckerpunching a blind man, at least give Sony a few months to build their defenses before you try and knock them down.

This could be a good thing, Sony and even the FBI can track the details of that payment back to whoever set up the account that money will go too. If Sony are smart they might be able to find a whipping boy to release some of their tension on.

I thought Lulzsec were using bitcoin donations because they specifically can't be traced? :/
