Mass Effect 2 Box Art Fails to Impress

That is rather bland and uninspiring box art. It looks like it was thrown together in ten minutes. In Microsoft Paint.

But then again:

They could print it on blank cardboard box with "mass effect 2" written somewhere somewhat noticeable, and I'd still shell out for it.

Still, would've been nice if they'd made more of an attempt at making the box pretty to look at.

If it wasn't on the site, I would have thought it was a fake. From Bioware's perspective, that should be a major hint to change it.

Something's off with it. I can't put my finger on it, but it might be the colors. It looks more like a screenshot then box art for a game.

It just doesn't look epic. The first game was epic, and it's box art communicated that perfectly. This does just look like a generic screenshot.

Dragon Age had better box art, and that was just a freaking dragon made of blood that had faint images of 2 people brooding on it.

are you kidding me its in my opion one of the top ten best games ever (mass effect 1) play the game before you start to criticize

It's pretty bad, but the neon green border makes it even worse. I can't stand Microsoft's obsession with that damn shade of green. They should've gotten it out of their systems with the first XBox.

Personally, I like browns, blacks, whites, yellows and reds. Wait.. I just saw a double meaning there.. All God's children of the world.. la la la.. (what can I say, I'm a people person!)

I don't care if the game is the same as Mass Effect 1, I'm still buying it...but good box art is something I like to have. I know the game will be good and this no way reflects the games overall awesomeness, but its simple and the girl and alien just make it really weird. Kinda like the meant-to-be-cheesy L4D campaign posters.

Its just sad cause I think they actually think its good.

Good game, I'm going to buy it. Box Art is shit.

Maybe if we make better box art then they'll change it.

Bah. I hate the look of the basic Shepard. I really do. The collector's edition cover is better by miles.

Oh well, I'll prolly get it off Steam anyway, so it won't matter one bit.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the girl on that cover is Kelly Clarkson*.

I actually thought she looked more like Sarah from Chuck in that pic (edit: ninja'ed to that one). Which may be somewhat intentional, as is it not the same actress providing the voice for this character?

But yeh, I'm not too keen on this box art. Just as well the collectors edition art looks a good bit sleeker.

If I encounter a game while strolling around the game aisle, I usually judge it for what is on the back of the box than the front.

Though I could see this looking like a generic "halo" rip-off.

This is just a good marketing tool to get people to buy the collectors edition

Its a bit off topic, but what the hell kind of alien is mr. lemon face?
I just finished playing mass effect 1, and i remember plenty of different aliens, but none of mr lemon faces overly skinny ilk, so maybe they are leaving a hint at new species being included?

...or did i just not notice a whole race?
