What is this, I don't even...
Are you for real? People are starting?
In this day and age?
Mind boggling.
"In this day and age"? What do you mean?
OT: Are you... trolling? 'Cause if so, you're not very good. Sorry.
What I mean, is that there is so much information easily available that warns people just how bad for you smoking is, that only a idiot would start.
You can do what you want with your body, that's your right, but it's also my right to tell you how stupid it is.
A few thing wrong with this.
1.) Saying it's stupid for harming you is pretty close-minded. Why is it stupid? Life only has as much value as one gives it. Just because you've given it a high value doesn't mean everyone does.
2.) You only live once. This isn't a rehearsal.
3.) Sometimes people are pushed to things like smoking. Life can be very stressful, and people deal with it in different ways. Some people smoke, some drink, some work out.
4.) I don't see how it's your right to call us stupid. Why have you earned it? Please tell me you don't honestly believe that not smoking makes you better than anyone, because that's tragic.
5.) There is so much information that warns people against frequently using a computer, but you're on one. There's so much information warning against eating fast food, but I'm sure you've enjoyed a cheeky little Maccy D's. Hell, there's a lot of information that warns us that sitting down to take a shit is dangerous, but we all do it.
1) It's stupid for the same reason that cutting yourself is stupid. It is self harming with no benefits. Which makes it stupid.
2) You only live once so why should you throw that away by smoking.
3) No one is pushed into smoking it is a choice they make.
4) By not smoking, by making the choice to not do something that will kill me. And yes that does make me better then smokers.
5) There is also information that says cell phones give you cancer, but they don't. There is Information that says cell phone use at a gas pump can cause it to explode, but it can't. Smoking has been proved beyond a doubt to have negative effects. You also do not get addicted to Mickey D's
1.) The moment you said this I knew that you don't really know what you're talking about. Calling cutting stupid is just ignorant. And secondly, it does have benefits: It calms us down.
2.) It's not throwing it away.
3.) There's no such thing as a fully free choice. Nobody simply starts smoking one day. Events in their life must've put them there.
4.) If you think that you're better for not smoking, I really feel bad for you. That's just so very sad and big headed.
5.) You can get addicted to McDonalds. Believe me, I'm friends with someone who's just beaten an addiction (I'm not even kidding). And you missed my point entirely. It wasn't on the validity of the statements, I was just pointing out that everyday we do things that are proven to have negative effects, but we don't say a thing. Yet smoking makes us pariahs because your mummy and daddy told you smoking is evil.

1: It's stupid for the same reason I'd say beating yourself over the head with a rock is stupid.
2: You're right, so why risk it with a really unhealthy (and fucking expensive) habit.
3: My parents regularly have a smoke to relieve stress. Wrong. They're not relieving stress, they're relieving withdrawel symptoms.
4: It's my right because I'm allowed an opinion. You wanna smoke? Go knock yourself out, you're free to do so. I'm also free to tell you how fucking stupid it is.
5: You're right, but none of those things are 100%, bad for you in every way imaginable.
1.) You didn't answer the question. Why is beating yourself over the head with a rock bad? The answer is because you've given life a high value, and you have to deal with the fact that not everyone shares this view.
2.) It's hardly risking your life. Hardly an extreme sport, unless you actually buy all the negative bullshit the media gives you.
3.) Wrong. Smoking relieves stress. I've been addicted, but I've also smoked when not addicted. I finished a pack of tobacco, which calmed me down, and I felt no withdrawal symptoms after stopping.
4.) Having an opinion is your right. However, thinking you have to right to spew it onto others is just kinda immature. If you hate it, just keep quiet and move on. If I didn't like your shirt I wouldn't call you a prick for wearing it.
5.) Smoking isn't 100% bad. It doesn't destroy 100% of your body. If done in (extreme) moderation, which is possible, it's on a par with drinking.
Overall, I'm not saying smoking is good; it's a bad habit (not as bad as the media says, mind). it just irks me to see that people are so big headed that they think they're better because they don't smoke. I kind of hoped that by now society would have grown up enough to just accept that some people will do things that others didn't liked. It depresses me to see supposed adults whining because somebody has made a choice.
