when i first started smoking many years ago, i wasn't addicted to it just as you think you aren't. my advice to you is to quit now before you do get addicted. i'm not going to tell you smoking for the camaraderie is stupid because that's why i started. but trust me when i say you'll start hating yourself for smoking in the years to come.PHOENIXRIDER57 said:I'm sure the poll has already been done, but look it up.... :effort:
So I just started smoking last week and I'm loving it so far. I do it for the camaraderie. I enjoy going outside with friends to have a smoke. I tried Camels but like Marbs better. I just wanted to see what people think of smoking, and to see what everyone else smokes?
Please don't tell me to stop, because I am not addicted to it and could if I want to. I enjoy smoking.
I would tell you to stop not for health reasons, but for monetary concerns. Cigs are pricey, man. You are literally smoking money.PHOENIXRIDER57 said:Please don't tell me to stop, because I am not addicted to it and could if I want to. I enjoy smoking.

Both of you. Exactly, I really forgot that people still start smoking. The only reason to smoke is if you are a detective or sea captain (detective chain smokes cigs, sea captain get a pipe). Otherwise nope, nope no reason to smoke exept to be popular.Daystar Clarion said:What is this, I don't even...

Mind boggling.
1. Agreed, too subjective to judge. Cutting is also the result of long term stress and psychological issues.Ultra-Chronic Monstah said:1.) OT: Are you... trolling? 'Cause if so, you're not very good. Sorry.
You can do what you want with your body, that's your right, but it's also my right to tell you how stupid it is.
1.) Saying it's stupid for harming you is pretty close-minded. Why is it stupid? Life only has as much value as one gives it. Just because you've given it a high value doesn't mean everyone does.
2.) You only live once. This isn't a rehearsal.
3.) Sometimes people are pushed to things like smoking. Life can be very stressful, and people deal with it in different ways. Some people smoke, some drink, some work out.
4.) I don't see how it's your right to call us stupid. Why have you earned it? Please tell me you don't honestly believe that not smoking makes you better than anyone, because that's tragic.
5.) There is so much information that warns people against frequently using a computer, but you're on one. There's so much information warning against eating fast food, but I'm sure you've enjoyed a cheeky little Maccy D's. Hell, there's a lot of information that warns us that sitting down to take a shit is dangerous, but we all do it.
2) You only live once so why should you throw that away by smoking.
3) No one is pushed into smoking it is a choice they make.
4) By not smoking, by making the choice to not do something that will kill me. And yes that does make me better then smokers.
5) There is also information that says cell phones give you cancer, but they don't. There is Information that says cell phone use at a gas pump can cause it to explode, but it can't. Smoking has been proved beyond a doubt to have negative effects. You also do not get addicted to Mickey D's
2.) It's not throwing it away.
3.) There's no such thing as a fully free choice. Nobody simply starts smoking one day. Events in their life must've put them there.
4.) If you think that you're better for not smoking, I really feel bad for you. That's just so very sad and big headed.
5.) You can get addicted to McDonalds. Believe me, I'm friends with someone who's just beaten an addiction (I'm not even kidding). And you missed my point entirely. It wasn't on the validity of the statements, I was just pointing out that everyday we do things that are proven to have negative effects, but we don't say a thing. Yet smoking makes us pariahs because your mummy and daddy told you smoking is evil.1.) You didn't answer the question. Why is beating yourself over the head with a rock bad? The answer is because you've given life a high value, and you have to deal with the fact that not everyone shares this view.Daystar Clarion said:1: It's stupid for the same reason I'd say beating yourself over the head with a rock is stupid.Ultra-Chronic Monstah said:A few thing wrong with this.Daystar Clarion said:What I mean, is that there is so much information easily available that warns people just how bad for you smoking is, that only a idiot would start.Ultra-Chronic Monstah said:"In this day and age"? 2: You're right, so why risk it with a really unhealthy (and fucking expensive) habit.
3: My parents regularly have a smoke to relieve stress. Wrong. They're not relieving stress, they're relieving withdrawel symptoms.
4: It's my right because I'm allowed an opinion. You wanna smoke? Go knock yourself out, you're free to do so. I'm also free to tell you how fucking stupid it is.
5: You're right, but none of those things are 100%, bad for you in every way imaginable.
2.) It's hardly risking your life. Hardly an extreme sport, unless you actually buy all the negative bullshit the media gives you.
3.) Wrong. Smoking relieves stress. I've been addicted, but I've also smoked when not addicted. I finished a pack of tobacco, which calmed me down, and I felt no withdrawal symptoms after stopping.
4.) Having an opinion is your right. However, thinking you have to right to spew it onto others is just kinda immature. If you hate it, just keep quiet and move on. If I didn't like your shirt I wouldn't call you a prick for wearing it.
5.) Smoking isn't 100% bad. It doesn't destroy 100% of your body. If done in (extreme) moderation, which is possible, it's on a par with drinking.
Overall, I'm not saying smoking is good; it's a bad habit (not as bad as the media says, mind). it just irks me to see that people are so big headed that they think they're better because they don't smoke. I kind of hoped that by now society would have grown up enough to just accept that some people will do things that others didn't liked. It depresses me to see supposed adults whining because somebody has made a choice.
Nah man, I find the zealous anti-smokers just as fucking annoying as anyone else. At least smokers typically keep it to themselves.Ultra-Chronic Monstah said:Yeah ok, if you worry for someone's health I get that. Look.
I would never go up to a stanger and tell them that smoking is bad for them, that's fucking ridiculous.
But if I know someone? I tell them just how stupid I think they are.
My parents smoke and my sister smokes, it's an expensive and filthy habit, and they're very fucking hypocritical about it.
"Oh, spending more money on videogames are we? What a waste"
They then proceed to spend hundreds of pounds a year on cigarettes.
...you do realize this is the exact same thing every smoker says? Right up to the point they try, then all you hear is how tough it is to stop smoking.PHOENIXRIDER57 said:I am not addicted to it and could stop if I want to.
It's not so much that you can't enjoy smoking, it's that I don't think you can enjoy the act of smoking. I've tried it a few times when I was an impressionable child with an equally impressionable cousin, who had some dodgy friends, and I honestly didn't get any enjoyment from it outside of the act of rolling it up (I'm odd like that). Maybe there is, I suppose, I just didn't get it.marfoir(IRL) said:While I agree with you post generally this is just plain wrong. I smoke and I enjoy smoking. It's impossible to enjoy smoking, inhaling smoke is one of the most tortuous experiences I've ever had the misfortune of having, the only way of enjoying it is either the addiction satisfaction or the childish psychological feeling of "being a big boy".
And I can also admit that at times I smoke purely because I need one now man, but your point that it is impossible to enjoy a smoke is wrong!
