No smell could actually be an advantage in some environments.
No taste might also work, if you cannot pick your own menu.

The other 3 options are severe handicaps.

Taste or Smell is the most practical choice, no big loss and helps with the diet, but I went with Touch for the super-hero angle

I would choose common sense because only idiots are ever put in charge.

I have been wondering a long time how that would really be like.
Close your eyes for a while. hah!

I chose smell... but it was a toss-up with taste.
I like to smell my loved ones... but I also like to taste things.
EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I dunno.

you'd still get knocked out, hurt, and pretty fucked over.
You also wouldn't be able to feel "down there" wherever that is...

Taste... it's actually sort of beneficial, because that way you can eat cheap food and not be able to taste how bad it is! =D

Smell was a close second, but there are situations in which it's useful - if you're listen to music or something, and your house is burning down, you'll probably need to be able to smell...

Install smoke detectors in your house, like yesterday already.

smell... my sinuses are constantly blocked anyway...

but I think if I had to choose between sight and hearing...

I think I would actually ditch sight!

while sight is of course more practical... I find sound a LOT more emotive.

Sight. Smell and taste maybe, but I'm nost sure I'd like to live without any taste to what I eat, or not feel the smell of all that sand when the snow goes away in spring. Hearing = music, nope, keeping that one and without any sense of touch any form of interaction with the rest of the world will be hard. So yeah, I'll lose sight.

I'd probably choose to lose my hearing. Learning sign-language would be a difficulty I guess, but it'd show how many of my friends who'd actually bother to learn it to speak to me in person (or coming up with a clever work-around, like writing down what they're saying on SMS (not sending it, but showing me what they've written)). Also, hearing is the one thing I could loose without risking to lose my future job once I'm done studying.

And to everyone who voted 'smell', enjoy not tasting anything as well (ok, that's a hyperbole, but still)... An astoundingly large amount of taste actually comes from smell. Just a FYI.

You missed off loads. Sense of balance, temperature etc. But based off the choices in the poll, I chose smell. The others are just too awesome, and it you can't as easily throw up from the others. IMO anyway.

it'd have to be smell. That'd be the first i'd lose. I have a friend who's anosmic (spelt wrong I know) but he's fine with it. obviously it'd suck to not be able to smell my girlfriend or amazing food or something but still.
