Ooh, that's one that I remember! PercyBoleyn! Peculiar chap. Only got into one argument with him. He ended up saying that my parents should have been castrated. I had to ask FalloutJack to help me out dealing with him.
Ah yes, the mods. Can we not just have robot mods who have to stick directly to the terms of discussion or whatever? Nine times out of ten, reporting does nothing because the Mod fins it funny or something. There are plenty of people who've been banned for minor stuff whilst talking to people who were being far worse. Whilst the moderation on this site is probably better than any other site like this, it's still not great.FalloutJack said:Let us reflect upon who put them there when some of them never deserved it.Copper Zen said:[HEADING=2]Come, my friends...Let us remember The Banned.[/HEADING]
I knew it was just a matter of time before someone started growling at the Mods. FalloutJack and now you.SpectacularWebHead said:Ah yes, the mods. This is the thread [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.389334-The-Philippines-Outlaws-Trolls-Cybersex#15609139] where her final meltdown began. She raged at Grey Carter--the mind behind Critical Miss--for using the term "cam whores" in reference to women who were forced/used in on-line sex shows.Froggy Slayer said:Ooh, I kind of want to see the thread where Boudicca got banned now.
Also, a lot of these people getting banned makes me sad. They added colour to the forums.

Then she took her argument to the Mod Forum chat room, where her raging resulted in Boudica requesting[/] a ban.
That struck me as the oddest thing of all--being so ticked off at someone you burn your own bridge out of disgust with him?
Of course that was LONG before I started following the Mod Forum chat room.
Mortai got banned for this [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.390353-This-kind-of-behaviour-at-cons-Eurogamer-KSI?page=11#15702501], and Matthew94 initially got suspended for insulting Mortai[footnote]small world[/footnote] here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.390265-Why-is-criticism-demonized-so-much#15675255], and then spammed a user group or something along those linesJaeke said:Wait wtf happened to Mathew94? And Mortai?EscapeGoat said:Ehh, I remember a couple or three, for various reasons.
I remember Necroswanson who seemed like a normal internet guy, but he made an angry post too many. I remember NoMoreSanity, who was a decent guy when I spoke to him but probably deserved his banning. I remember MaxtheReaper, forum celebrity of a couple years back. I remember Furburt, now running his own forum with Hubilub. I remember Indigo_Dingo, mostly because of his 10000 post review of the Escapist. I remember Darth Mobius and Darth Empyrean, a forum couple. I remember Zeeky Santos and Fish Food Carl and Lord Cuthberton and RAKtheUndead and Richard Groovy Pants and Sean Hollyman and Swollen Goat and WanderFreak and Mathew94 and Avykins and IdealistCommi (who became Rocket Dog) and Demented Teddy and Pararaptor. I remember Mortai Gravesend.
I mean, you stick around for a while, you tend to remember the people who make a name for themselves by getting themselves banned, as well as those who simply gravitate away.
I don't remember why they were banned and I don't glorify them either - many were banned for good reasons. I simply remember they existed.
Man I've only been off for a couple months and everyone's gone
If you don't mind me asking, what happened with Hubilub and all them? I joined when they were still active, and then suddenly they were goneZombie_Fish said:snip
When you follow your own rules. That, is decent moderation. The escapist mods however, most of the time, do not, and are far to opinionated on when the rules apply, and apparently being in the publishers club or working for the escapist gets you a free pass to say and do what you want. And to be fair, that comment was an insert considering who most sites basically have no mod system beyond one guy with a keyboard and an attitude problem, so yes, The Escapist has got a great system of moderation comparitively. All I am saying is, if you are going to impose rules RE: banning and reporting, then you need to enforce them where they occur whenever they occur without fail rather than letting shit slide because of your own personal bias.Copper Zen said:I knew it was just a matter of time before someone started growling at the Mods. How do you characterize 'great' moderation when you consider the moderation on this site to be better than any other site like it?
I'm in the Pub Club and they watch what I say pretty fiercely. Can you give any specific examples of Posters, any Posters, getting away to say and do what they want?SpectacularWebHead said:When you follow your own rules. That, is decent moderation. Him and Khar really had it out for each other.
That fantastic little emotional mini series taught me to cool off the kindness a bit. Some people might take it the wrong way. T^TSacman said:Heh, yeah it all seemed a bit too real for him... seeing as how I remember at one point he was telling you that he loved you... xD
same with the banning too... taking it all personally cause he got in trouble for posting porn once, if I remember correctly...<.>
I'm not talking about forum celebs, Arguably a couple of people in the banned list where in fact, forum celebrities. No, I mean once you stat giving the escapist money, the mods look the other way to a lot of stuff. Just because YOU are responsible and adhere to the rules does not mean everyone does likewise. I can't name anyone specific, but the number of times someone has come out with something that was either directly insulting or offensive in a wider context and gotten away with it because they were in pub club (Although only ever on R and P, that is the only vague example I can give, sorry, I haven't been active recently and therefore can't link anything recent) is staggering. And selective moderation is something that tends to pop up a lot between randomers, in what I would imagine is either laziness or MOD bias.Copper Zen said:I'm in the Pub Club and they watch what I say pretty fiercely. I don't wish to come off as confrontational D:, but I remember the sour poster who had such a hang up against "Forum Celebrities" but he/she just ranted, and when someone else asked for examples he/she got nasty and spoke in generalities. I don't recall who it was but witnessing the whole exchange left a bad taste in my mouth.
